Either I severely missed someone mentioning it or its just now coming to the table??? IDK! But at least its now fixed...

Actually I did mention it way back when but the way I posted didn't point out WMA directly. I was *****ing about how RR lists all my music fine but RR Media was skipping songs and I had a big "Unknown" folder...I later come to find it's all WMA's...No fault of your own, glad it's figured out.

Daaaaaang. I'm assuming you just stripped out the movie and compressed it, otherwise 2600 x 4 GB >> 2 TB...

Yes and no...There is software out there and certain files have limited embedded information. Video has seemed to become more of an "associated type tag" if you will. Adding XML, jpegs, etc.. within the root folder of the movie file.

Avi's can be tagged with software.

Gonna tic ya off blue...

Multi album disc sets...I have them structured as follows.. ie Dave Matthews Band/Live at Red Rocks/Live at Red Rocks Disc 1, Live at Red Rocks Disc 2 so on..

In rr media it only reads the tags, so I suppose I need to tag my music albums according to Disc #? Or is there something I can do to make RR media read the folder?

ya, go into folder view...

That's probably how most others would organize them too, myself included. Other that what you proposed, is no current way to distinguish between them in the other views.

Maybe this is the place for some suggestions? I was preparing a big post on music organization with some suggestions, but I think maybe you have too much to do already?

Some suggestions:

1. Composer organization: for those with a big classical collection, composer is as important as the artist. A big button composer would suffice.

2. I have like 20K+ artists I think. So I can only laugh when RR offers the ability to sort by "artist"...not useful at all (how many pages on a 7" screen is that?). One thing RRMedia/RR could do is to offer the option to list artists with 10+ songs only (or whatever number, set by .ini file).

3. This is important, IMHO: sort complete albums first; so those with say at least 12 songs should be more easily reachable than others.

4. Some form of nested navigation could be useful: like if you hit Bach, your next option should be artists, but THEN when you select artist, of course only those songs that artist performed from the previously selected composer would be shown.

eg: Bach -- Boult
-- London Orchestra --- cantata 1 (from Bach only)

But if you go artist:
Pearl Jam
-- Composer -- pearl Jam
-- Jimmy Hendrix (click Hendrix, and then you'll see only PJ versions, etc.)
DJ Tiësto
-- composer -- himself
-- remixes

That would be so cool...maybe Guino and Mitch could chip in and help integrate this, or something like it, into RR.

Yes, I ripped the DVD's and converted to Xvid, The movie.avi's are around 800 megs each.

Thanks for your help.

I'm using a subset of all my files to get under 31k...testing with the carwings_lite skin...this is great.

I don't know if you guys know this, but CF3.0 dropped playlist support. No playlist import, no playlist creation, there's no search button anymore, it's hidden on top of the "artists/genre lists". Supposedly this is going to be handled by a plugin from now, but the work hasn't even started yet. Yeah, I know funny.

Well, never mind, I think this plugin has the potential to unleash a lot of good things for RR, no doubt. I'm going to see if one can use the audio skin to go directly to this. Working very well so far, can't wait for the 1.3 updates.
