Looking at your debug you posted earlier it looks like the file that was downloaded with the postal code diodn't match the format the program is expecting, therefore it couldn't extract the zipcode.

Now putting the url into a webbrowser here gives me a correct format file.

So I can only conclude that the file you are downloading is either corrupt, the website didn't like your IP Address so has sent a non available type page or your firewall may have blocked the site.

Try putting the url into a browser and see what page you get (should be an XML format)

i do get an xml page, i had already tried entering in each url into a browser to see what i got. i dont even see an xml file being downloaded to any folder in the plugin, should the plugin be downloading the file, or does it open and read it on the fly? how does the plugin access the internet to retrieve the information, from an external browser/program or just connects to http with itself?

can you send me a copy of the xml you get?

the plugin downloads the page, sucks it up and then deletes it.

It downloads it internally (using a MS webbrowser control, so it's basically using IE)

i pm'ed you a copy of the xml. i think the problem may more likely be that i'm using a slimmed down version of windows xp, with minimal browser function. the browser operates for what i need it to, like i can go to google, and view web pages and such, but maybe there is a component that i am missing that your plugin requires. should i check for any missing dll files in the i.e. folder??

i have neither of those files. i checked my laptop, which has a full windows xp sp2 install, and the laptop doesnt have the files either. both are running i.e. 6.0

i downloaded ieframe.dll and placed it in the system32 folder, which didnt seem to help. i couldnt find ieframe.oca for download on google

EDIT: i also did a full reinstall of i.e. 6 using method 3 described here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378

The oca may just be needed for development machines. the dll is the important one.

updating to i.e.7 fixed the problem. however, i would much rather use i.e.6 for the ability to remove all the toolbars making it more skinnable. i might try installing roadrunner on the freshly installed laptop with a full copy of xp sp2 and i.e.6 to see if i can re-create the issue

Yeah, my development machines all have 7 on now.

I think I also had an issue with another user running the standalone petrol app. he was running 6 and an upgrade to 7 fixed it.

i guess i'll just have to use ie7 as i really wanted the gas function. looks like ie6 just doesnt want to provide the necessary tools for this to work right. now onto getting the gasnav to work.

thanks for all your help

If I had a PC with IE6 on I could probably do a version for that. But I don't at the moment.
