Sonic, I hope you do not mind, I talked your skinner into sending me a copy so I can also get it skinned for DFX. I told him I had beta'd Mail, Fusion and a few other things for you.
The plugin is a work of art from what I can see so far! Wow, you have outdone yourself of all of the calculations and such! That must be a lot of code to keep track of everything and calculate it all.... all I can say is WOW!
Now, if I may mention a couple things , from a skinners, as well as users perspective:
I entered an oil change for a test, and I have to say it took some time to go through all the screens
Enter the name of maintenance item:
Please enter the year of maintenance item
Please enter the month of maintenance item
please enter the day of maintenance item
please enter the mileage completed
please enter the interval in mileage
please enter the interval time
please enter the cost of maintenance item
please enter any additional notes
Didn't you mention that Blue gave you his numosk code for dates? that would knock a lot of time off being able to enter in 08-08-09 instead of 3 different screens. Also, when entering the info, there is a pretty good lag/delay as to when you can press the next button on the numosk/osk. I am using a mouse on my test computer, and that is much slower than tapping a touchscreen, and I still have to pause between each press.
Also, some of the wording is hard to figure out when you go through the screens. I had no idea what "please enter the mileage completed", meant the first time through. I was like,... Ummm I havent went anwhere This could be named "Maintenance interval in miles" (Miles and Kilometers wording can be handled inside the plugin based on the ISUNITS Variable). Then a couple of others.. maybe "Interval in days", "What is the cost of this maintenance" ect....
Could you make the instructions for each screen, a label instead of appearing in the entry text box? This is for a couple of reasons. First sometime the cursor goes in front of the existing text, and inserts, and secondly, that is a really small box to try to for wording such as "Please enter the month of maintenance item" into.
The same label name could be used, just swap out the label info as each item is entered.
This would allow for a "title" at the top of the NumOSK, something like this:
This is an amazing plugin, and something that RR has needed for a very long time. I mean it is a CarPC, and what better information to be able to keep track of on it!

Nah i dont mind at all.. everyone would have it if it werent for my fugly demo skin . As i told carputer in PM, the wording for the OSKs has been changed since i gave him the beta. I agree some of itwas confusing. I dont know WHY i didnt think to have a label on the osk instead of showing it in the text box... but thats something i will add before release. Add a label to your skin named RRVM_OSKTITLE and i will make the text box area blank.
Now for the date information.... i am using blue's dateosk stuff. His plugin does it the same way RRVM is doing it.. i just had to change the OSKTEXT to match instructions. The reason i didnt start off allowing date entry is because it adds too many screens(initially it was a total of 6 extra steps!). Blue's help cut that number in half. You have also consider how often you're going to be adding maintenance data and repair data too. It should technically be only once to set up all maintenance and then repairs as they come along. I didnt add date screens for fuel because its something that users will need to enter more often.
I'm glad you 2 like what you see so far

Ok, so the skinning continues.... May I ask why you use a different OSK than the skin one? I notice all the "commands" (Such as enter, backspace ect) are standard OSK "K" commands, but the numbers and letters are buttons. Skinning another OSK is gonna make people scream, as that is the WORST thing to have to skin.
Here is one screen, pretty much completed... There sure are a lot of buttons and labels to take care of

Because having my own osk allows me to do error checking DURING the data entry instead of checking the resulting values then making someone go backwards. Thats actually NOT implemented in the beta but i was futureproofing persay. If it sounds like its not needed i wont bother.

Ok, just finishing up this beast It's not that there are that many labels and such, the hard part is trying to find a sensible layout for everything, and all like items together ect ect.
I wanted so bad to do a real working style odometer, but decided just to do something that looks kind of like an odometer I had to incorporate "fix width" numbers, and increase spacing between them, into the DFXFont so they would line up all the time with the little boxes.
The button to the left of each of the odometer, trip and waypoint are the toggle to reset them. (Middle one is pressed in the screen cap)
On the odometer, I used the "calibrate odometer" code on button press, and the "reset odometer" on a press and hold.

the initial beta will not but as soon as i know i'm not looking at any critical bugs i will add support for metric units. Please note the LABEL names will not change.. but they're resulting values will change based on your rr.ini international settings (ISUNITS)

i'm lost.. there is no filter on the maintenance section... only the history section. I will check the source to see if i left any standard numosk stuff in there.
