GpsLockout [ UPDATED 10/16/09 ]

************************************************** **********
RideRunner Extension Plugin for GpsLockout
************************************************** **********

General
=======
This is a replacement for the old outdated MotionLock plugin by festy. If you used
the motionlock and changed the default settings then you'll need to transfer them
over to the GpsLockout.ini. There are no 'Mode' or 'DisableScreen' settings.
There are some additional notes for the settings at top of the ini file.

Labels
======
"GpsLockout_Engaged" - Shows 'Disabled'\'Enabled' depending on GPS speed is above/below
the 'stationary' imit

Indicators
==========
"GpsLockout" - Indicates that the Plugin is Running

"GpsLockout_Engaged" - Indicates that video screens\cmds are locked out

Events
======
"GpsLockout_ONMotion" - is fired in place of the original issued command if already in motion(moving)
or if on a locked screen when starting to move, will close it then issue event

Included* in the Screens folder is an example screen that you can use. To use, just
copy the files from there into the skin folder that your using.

* screens are from festy's MotionLock plugin

I've added the screens from the carwings skin that were edited by pierrotm777 below.

Questions and Requests

Q1. Does this use the same screens and commands as festys.

Q2. Why did you stick this in the wrong forum?

R1. Can you (and I will ask this of other plugin authors) also release it in a non installer version.

It was posted there, as it takes a mod to move a plugin to the released plugins section He PM'd me and asked me to move it to the released section.

Aren't you, I thought you were.

Yes and no.

If I want to be able to skin a plugin, but don't want to actually install it, I need it in a non-installer version.

It is a VERY simple installer, that just copies the files to [Your RR folder]\Plugins\GPS Lockout. The only skin needed is "gpslockout_denied.skin" or what ever you want to call it actually, as it's set in the ini file. So, yes, you can use the existing skin from Festy's plugin, and nothing is then needed to be skinned if you have that skin in place already.

The list of skins that are not aloud are set in the .ini file:

Quote:
################################################## #############################################
#
# Settings Explained:
#
# Speed --------------- the max speed consider as 'stationary' - anything over that and access
# to the configured commands/skins is blocked
# cmds --------------- a list of commands to block while moving, space seperated
# skins --------------- a list of skins to block, space seperated again
# DisableScreen ------- the screen to call when above speed limit setting
#
# * To test, set speed to -1
#
################################################## ##############################################

[Settings]
Speed=3
cmds=dvd video
skins=external_DVD.skin video_player.skin windvd_player.skin
DisableScreen=gpslockout_denied.skin

Well if I had a scrap machine set up I would, but I don't at the moment.

Besides afetr using Carputer1's skin installer which has caused all my lists to become Italicised I am wary of using installers now.

I prefer to know exactly what is being installed, where it's installed and what changes are being made. The I can make the choice on whether to install it or not.

As for virtual machines, tried that, find them too slow for what I want, need to set up a really big power rig, but never around to doing that.

You could use an unpacker like innounp, the Inno Setup Unpacker http://innounp.sourceforge.net/

Thanks for the plugin!

carputer1 will become famous soon enough
i may be going OTT , as video while driving is mostly Illegal ,in most countrys,
i think either skinners should release this with thier skins default , or rr releases as default, and its down to the user to de-activate, at least the authors of skins or rr are covered. and done thier bit.

its not like its hard to de-activate is it now
