I've posted an updated version of the plugin:
http://www.rrdownloads.net/BETA/RREarth.zip
This version should have a fix for the GPS ON/OFF button working inconsistently and should make GE use 0% CPU while using other screens in RR (it will auto turn off/on map centering when leaving/entering the map screens).
@wfs1: It is VERY IMPORTANT that you run Road Runner with this filename: RoadRunner.exe -- DO NOT rename it to RR.EXE, delete the old file, download the new one and adjust your shortcuts. Also, please do this before trying again:
-Close any googleearth.exe running in the task manager (under processes)
-Run Google Earth outside RR (without having RR running)
-Delete any Network links you see under my places (including RR Earth - GPS Link) -- this link is created automatically and deleted automatically
-Close Google Earth, Then Launch RoadRunner.exe and try to start the plugin

Besides... the plugin really looks nice and it has a very very high -WOW- factor Keep it up!
Seems there's something wrong with your install, I start it up no problem with no internet -- it should give a message saying "can't login whatever.." but the plugin closes it automatically and the map should display with cached information. If you loose connection while driving (most of the time for me), it will also show a network error message which the plugin also takes care of. Please double check you have the version 4 installed -- I have never heard of that error you mentioned -- I've tested in a few machines by now, and use it daily in the car as of this time.

What I did:
- Downloaded the GE 4 beta from the link mentioned in this thread... and installed
- Did all the RR-work.
- I started GE with internet-link and moved around a bit to cache most of the places I go.
- Pulled out the plug and continued scrolling around the map (works fine, only no updates/better pictures)
- Closed/Restarted Google Earth (without RR) and I got that message and it wont start.
- Setup the skin and tried with RR... all worked well, but not without internet-link. It only works without an internetlink if it started with a link.
Also another issue (with the latest update you just added): The Toggle GPS isnt working right I think. It makes me impossible to scroll around, because it tries to send me back to my GPS location.
- issue 2, when trying to add location with a space in the street name, the only characters before the space will be entered.
Still... great looking tool!

That's weird, you need to figure out why GE won't work without a connection on your machine. It works fine here.
Check if pressing the toggle gps hides/shows the GPS icon propperly, it "should", I've had problem with that myself, GE is a bit *****y about that feature.
Where are you adding location with a space ? the OSK ? If the text you're typing is too long to fit the box, it will be accepted, just won't display in the skin (will break the text on any spaces).

i have a request for ya:
can you make it so that rrearth.exe checks for rr.exe (or whatever the .exe will be officially named now ) and if the process doesnt exists shuts itself down.

guino,
Thanks for all the work!
Now, I installed Google Earth, RREarth, etc to my CarPC, the Desktop that I was trying this on, I'll worry about later.
Followed you advice, When I call up the RRearth skin, then Google Earth won't embed into that skin or on either RREarth skin??
So I temporary added a clip to the same region defined in your Application region so I could see if Google Earth would display. It does but it isn't resizing.
Closed out RR and any Google Earth process, retested several times the same thing. I am seeing the GPS in the temporary places of Google Earth and the GPS-Icon is displaying with the zoom/rotation enabled, which I guess is correct and these entries are gone when you exit RR, so that seems right.
If I close everything out in RR/Google Earth, etc and go to the folder where RREarth is stored and double-click the GPS.kml file then it starts Google Earth and displays the GPS signal, etc.
The last version/upgrade of RREarth.exe doesn't seem to finish loading in RREarth skin, just hangs so I went back to the previous version and it does as described above..
This was done while have an internet connection..
It seems to be almost working on my system.

been able to do some testing with the latest beta. I'll be the first one to admit i've never used google earth before this so i dont know much about its functions... but for some odd reasons when i enter the addresses and hit get directions the directions show but them a few seconds later the screen jumps right back to the first fly_to location (somewhere in europe). Here's the skins i made though.

Sonic I seen that when I didn't have a GPS signal and running it out of RR.. Except mine would float to the Great Lakes area.
I noticed that in the my places (google earth) there are entries for all over the world, Thinking about deleting them so they are not so easy to activate from the small menu bar.

If RR itself closes down, RREarth will also close down -- its existance depends on RR to create its main object, so as soon as RR shuts down, it will delete the object and basically close RREarth, if that's not happening you probably have lingering roadrunner tasks running -- you need to make sure you do NOT have RR.EXE in the machine (you should only have RoadRunner.exe -- the FILENAME IS VERY IMPORTANT).

That's why you need the button to toggle the GPS ON/OFF -- otherwise GE will keep zooming into the GPS position (even if the GPS isn't connected). There have been a few issues with that button not working, so if your toggle gps button doesn't hide the GPS icon, please re-download the plugin and try again -- I've made some updates.

@wfs1: I don't think you have it setup propperly:
1-You should not see any menu bars
2-You should not need to clip any areas of the skin
3-You should not use the LOAD command to start/show the maps, you should use "GE_START" only.
4-Double check you've deleted RR.EXE and you're running RoadRunner.exe (with that FILENAME) -- the one posted on the BETA site.

www.sonicxtacy.com/freedomforrrearth.rar Decided against the script, to go back out of full screen mode just touch the blank space under the song title.

Nice Skin sonic, thanks
I would like to know how well the latest beta version posted is working for those who tried the plugin.. it seems to be very consistent and very functional on my tests here.
Next, I need to know what else you'd like to see in it:
-AutoZoom Control (According to speed) ?
-Tilt control (Preset or + and - buttons) ?
-Goops Support to Display your friends (Requires Goops cooperation) ?
-Not sure what else is possible to do, but maybe you have suggestions.

its working on my home system quite well. I cant use it in the car yet though cause i dont wanna give up the latest phoco beta .exe . The system i'm on now is a 1ghz with a gig of ram and yea.. not even CLOSE to usable lol.
Autozoom based on speed i'd consider a must. Tilt control as a present would be a pretty nice little feature. As for goops... dunno a thing about it
