Ok, posted another update (same link). This one has tilt control support and autozoom support (I did NOT update the skin yet -- check skin commands.txt and rrearth.ini for details). Let me know how this works.

I just did an upgrade on my CarPC (one of my home machines had the MB shot so I got some spare parts). I first ran it with 8Mb of video and 256Mb RAM and it had less detail (maps) and was pretty sluggish.. then I added another 256Mb and changed in the BIOS the shared memory for video to 32Mb.. now it has better map detail and runs pretty nice too.. My work laptop (where I develop), is a 1.2Ghz with 512Mb Ram and it works pretty decent too.. this one has a nice 128Mb video card though.. with less then 32Mb video you can only display high detail maps of 256x256 (center area of the screen) and the rest gets blurred out.. with 32Mb you can display 512x512 .. At some other level you can get it to display the full maps at high quality (don't know exactly what number that is).. those are settings in GE you can set (it enables/disables it according to the video memory available).

quino,
I have tried to find the reason for this not to resize or embed into the RRearth screens. Is there something in RR config or maybe window that I am overlooking??
If I don't clip then then this will happen, the google earth is behind the rrearth screens. If I open task manager and task from RR to GE then back again it will try to resize there but as soon as I touch any part of the GE program it goes fullscreen and covers the RRearth skin. Also when I go to RRearth2 skin goggle goes fullscreen and if I toggle using taskmanager it will try to resize but none of the commands/buttons work.

I'm running this on a 2.4 P4 with 1-gig memory but my video is only 16 meg and I can't change or share it in the bios. I setup GE to use directx as they recommended..
Lost again..

Guino - had work travel today wish I had seen this sooner spent 5 hours round trip over to Indy with a rock solid RR trip ;-)

Just grabbing this now and will report in --- I tested the early goops stuff but was messy - this looks pretty interesting especially with the cache features in Earth...

Thanks for this!

Guino --

I stepped thru all 4 pages of the thread, to the tee. I get the skin to load, no embedding occurs but I see that googleearth is loaded as a process with task manager.

1 - Copied beta RoadRunner.exe to my RR path
2 - Using BMV fresh skin - added new skin files and assigned a button
3 - Unzip'd files to RR path and ran the .exe there as you indicated
4 - Installed GE 4 made sure no links as you mentioned.
5 - Added the x, ... to the menu skin file.

Double checked this all quite a bit but sure I could have missed something?

Anything else I may be missing.... I am going to try another clean build. Looks fantastic - would love to see it.

?

3-You should not use the LOAD command to start/show the maps, you should use "GE_START" only.
4-Double check you've deleted RR.EXE and you're running RoadRunner.exe (with that FILENAME) -- the one posted on the BETA site.

Guino - update...

Correct me if I am wrong, and don't think this should be the case. But if I run GE 4 before RR, it appears to embed properly and is showing and operating within the skin. I don't think this is the desired approach here but just an update on that.....

Ok - ditto on speed comments below and well warned Guino, but I did get it working in a clean RR build - so it loads and all is well. I am using local and simply need to see if it would be usable in my cars - and also the features a bit more. Not sure exactly that I know enough about how I would go about using it but the directions piece I would like to figure out.

Thanks again for the work. There is no doubt this it tied in beautiful - very embedded from my view - fantastic job. I just need to understand the app and how to better use it (or how you would other than wow which is kewl by the way), how to cache better (is tool only option), and how the GE directions piece works.

I will mess with all of this and sure folks will chime in.

Thanks!!!

Autozoom based on speed i'd consider a must. Tilt control as a present would be a pretty nice little feature. As for goops... dunno a thing about it
