If I recall correct, it does need of the latest beta...

Why have you registered it twice? Use regsvr32 -u rrk8055.dll to unregister it, delete the copy in system32 and register again the one in the RR dir... Should work that way... Btw have you checked that the kit number is 0 (shorted SK5,SK6) ?

I have one of these K8055's sitting around somewhere. How would I go about performing a different command based on an analog input value?

I want to use it for steering wheel buttons on a 2-wire resistive circuit. Would I have to connect one wire to the A1 and the other to GND, are any voltages required or is this handled by the K8055?

You will need to put one wire to the analog in (channel 2) and the other wire to a voltage that makes the voltage on the analog in between o and 5 volts depending on the button pressed. You could use a 5volt source but probably a 12 volt source with an additional resistor will do the trick aswell. The ground has to be the ground of the power source you supplied to the second wire. Can make a drawing if you wish.

Many thanks.

You will need the latest beta for the indicator click functionality and the sliders for the analog in and outputs. The skin will not give you an error if the board was not found. Please check the jumpers on you board. By default is board address 0 (both jumpers placed). Check if the RRK8055.DLL and the k8055d.dll are in the roadrunner dir and register them using regsvr32.exe <dllname>

Hope this helps

What I'm thinking to do is wire my 12v reverse through a relay to a digital input of the board. When it is triggered I'll have a MUTE command but when it is released is there a way to issue a MUTE command again?

The same goes for the car's doors.. Mute when open, unmute when closed...

Cool idea. Will add it to the functionality. Be patient...

So can you confirm that i just need the rrk8055.dll registered in the RR directory, and not have the k8055d.dll registered at all. If so, why can i not unregister the k8055d.dll, i just get the attached error.

Plus i have downloaded the latest beta (06/11/06) and this doesn't even load the relay.skin where the official release did.

Any help appriciated.

Thanks for the previous help (the on/off command), just thought I could slightly help someway ...

and while you are at it, could you please also add a long-delay command? This could double the inputs !! Just a thought....

On my computer I had just installed the K8055 software from the supplied CD in the program files directory. This should also take care of the registration of the dll. Test the board using the demo program that's om the same CD to check everthing is working. If so, copy the RRK8055.dll from the plugin to your RR directory and in a command window go to this directory and register it using regsvr32 RRK8055.dll. This should really be it. Let me know if it worked for you.

If you receive a activex error, this indicated the RRK8055.dll was not registered correctly. If you receive an automation error the K8055d.dll was not found. If noting happens, it might be the problem that your skin is not loading the plugin because the X,RRK8055 is not in the skin using the K8055 functionality.

The latest RR beta does not have native K8055 code. Guino removed this because the plugin made it obsolete. With this the RELAYS command was also removed. You should load the relays.skin as you would load any custom skin e.g. "LOAD;relays.skin" from a button.

Don't know if it is a problem but I just saw that in the relay.skin I deliver in version 1.4.0 there is a lowercase x instead of a uppercase X. It should be X,RRK8055. Maybe this fixes the problem.

Thanks for the wiring tips. I understand what you mean, so a drawing shouldn't be necessary.

As for the first part of my question, how do I make the plugin issue a different command based on the value of the second analog input? So if it was 1V, PLAY, 2V, SKIP, etc?

Sorry for being such an electronics n00b, but can you please help me figure out what voltage I can use for the analog input going by the attached schematic for my steering wheel controls?

Thanks,

best thing is to hook up a multimeter/voltmeter to the wires and then press each button in turn and take a note of the readings.

Also try pressing more than one button at once and see what readings you get then.

I dont have the head unit in anymore, so the two wires running to the steering wheel controls do not have any voltage running through them. I tested the resistance and it matches what the drawing says when buttons are pressed.
