Couple questions if i may: i can't seam to figure out what the little speedo looking graphic in the top bar is supposed to do or indicate. Also, looking inside the skin i see warning jpg's for like when you're about to delete a track..but i can't find a button (for deleting a track) in the audio player nor audio browser.

Superb skin. Background graphics are in good taste and subdued enough for people not to notice unless you point it out. Thanks.

The speedo graphic is to indicate, eh, um, arrgh, eh, oh yeah speed. (if you run FreeDrive, MapMonkey or have RR read your GPS, then the speed will show next to it).

The warning jpg's are for Phoco, if you delete contacts, I believe. It is not for deleting a track. Although If I ever add that I will probably use those jpg's for that as well.

Oh! OK. I'll check my settings 'cause I'm running IG3 splitting the ports with xport but nothing is showing.

If you are interested in a tag editor i can let you have this one when I'm done.
It's an adaptation from the "simple tag editor" by EL CAMINO.

Hmm, there's no actual allowance for running a com port splitter. IE if you have chosen iGuidance in iDrive config it actually removes the entry for speed, as I have no way of getting the speed from iGuidance. (maybe I'll get it to default to getting the speed from RR)

Be careful about using the skin editors with iDrive, they can mess up iDrive config. (at least the original ones did).

LOL so that's what happened! I was looking inside the skin with skin editor and after i saved and ran RR again everything disappeared, nothing but the background graphics would show up! LOL

BTW, I do have IG selected in config. so that explains it.

Actually, just looked at the skin file. It's already set up topull the speed info from RoadRunner if iGuidance is selected.

So if you have a comport splitter set up and RoadRunner is getting the NMEA string then the speed should show need to the speedometer. It should also display the GPS co-ords top middle and tell you how many satellites are connected.


Am now having a sneeky look at El C's tag editor.

I can see the number of sats right next to the (satellite) graphic but no coodinates or speed.

Took her out for a ride, the only thing worked was the sat count. Looked in external_gps.skin; every thing is commented-out except the iguidance portion but there are no labels defined to pull the speed nor coordinates (nor sat count although it works); maybe that's the problem.

No big deal, just would like to enjoy the full capabilities of the skin

I'm a noob to all of this so it's probably a noob mistake / something I'm missing. I'm using iGuidance 4 and although the GPS info (sats and speed) are showing in the GPS screen they aren't showing at the top beside the sat and speedo icons. I looked at the gpstop.skin all the iGuidance section looks normal (all other sections are remarked out). This hasn't worked with previous skins also so I believe I'm missing how to enable it elesewhere.

Unfortunately there is no way to get the info out of iGuidance, so if you want the info at the top it will have to come from RoadRunner.

In order for RoadRunner and iGuidance to both access the GPS you will need to use a COMport / GPS port spltter. Look for something called Xport by curiosity.

It don't work that way either. I'm splitting ports with RoadRunner but the information still will not show in the skin.

When the gps mode goes full screen and i click in the top right (where it says 150 in the screen shown below) It crashes with the error: Runtime error '438'
Object doesn't support this property or method.

Well I've just checked the cose in the two 'top' skins and they are set to show the GPS Speed and coordinates as long as RR is getting them

The onl;y thing I can think of is maybe RR has the same problem with the GPSSPD label that it has with the map monkey speed label.

open up gpstop.skin and/or top.skin, under iGuidance you should see a line with GPSSPD in it followed by ,"RIGHT", delete the RIGHT leaving just "" and see if that works.

I'm sure I have seen this mentioned before with RoadRunner but I can't find the thread.

This pink square at the bottom usually indicates that a skin jpg is missing, but I have checked my copies here so I doubt it's that.

Which version of mappoint are you using?
