OK i think i understand what happened.
its a problem with Japanese Windows.
See when US PC uses the \ for directory, japanese PC uses a different symbol, thus everythign stops working.
Thanks for the help BlueZX3!

Have you (manually) changed anything in the skins exectbl.ini file? Next, are you using the supplied newer button editor as opposed to the one from dfx 3.0? you should have swap and delete buttons in the top right corner area if its the correct one to be using for 4.0.

Should I assume that error message appears when trying open the editor?

Hya - sorry for the delay in my reply - i've been busy playing with scripting.
I had alook through my system, and decided to do a fresh installation on my new ITX unit ( i've been playing with VB6 the past few weeks on the test rig) All is now fine. I have no idea why it wasn't working, but I don't care - it works now.
One thing I have realised, though, is that the DVD and Video apps lock up RR.... is this just a path problem, or have I missed something in the apps ?
I've Got Garmin Mobile PC to work now, and Destinator 7 - which I'm quite happy about. Altough GMPC does open up too high on the screen, blocking out the x and - buttons, but I can live with this for the time being.....

John and Blue, just made a small donation to you both to say thanks.
I live in UK, and I'm trying to get the weather sorted, but there seems to be no weather_europe.ini file in my \DFX4.0\weather\ folder, My DFX 4.o installer was downloaded on 9th August, which should be the most recent version according to the JohnWPB site. I know there were mentions of a patch, to replace/update modified files but can't find it, or it maybe that nothing has been released yet, if so I'll be patient
Can anyone advise ?
Thanks, Phil.

Try a couple of things:
1. Change the folder name to Road Runner (with a space);
2. Make sure the button editor is in the DigitalFX 4.0 folder;
3. I believe I may have had the same issue a few months ago and eventually figured out that I was using an older version of the button editor. I seem to remember that there were two versions and the older one gave me trouble. The newer one is included with the DFX download, but for some reason I was using the older one. Try using the [ ADDED BY JohnWPB Latest one from 09/23/08 in the FAQ (post #3 in this thread) ].

Reason: Changed the link to point to the latest version of the button editor

This fixed it for me. Thank you.
