I can use IE or Firefox to browser to the site and get locale weather but from inside the skin it just sits there trying to load. This also freezes RR for a little bit.

If this doesn't seem like a skin problem sorry for posted here. Just let me know and I will try posting somewhere else for help on this.

Hey guys, I am having a similar problem with my weather too. And, yes I read the helper files...

I am trying this from my desktop, so it's not an Internet connection issue (cable modem). Looks like all the folders are where they belong. The radar, sat and temp maps work fine and are updated, but there is no display on the 1 day and 5 day maps. I have a GPS hooked up, configured the port (2) and can see 12 satillites locked in the gauges skin, so I know it's connected and getting a signal, but that's not needed for anything but GPS (GPS button) weather, right? Or, do all the tabs work off a GPS signal? Basically, the 1/5 day weather function no workie for me.

The cursor goes from hourglass to mouse pointer every 2-3 seconds or so.

I tried to click on the west palm, etc, header buttons, and set my city/state in RR Config. I even disabled my Norton AV, nothing helps. I also set weather and net check to "allow" in Norton.

Lastly, this is the same GPS antenna (earthmate) I had on my carPC machine, and it worked fine there. Haven't tested it yet with DFX3.0 on it, but I'm not sure that is the problem either. Just thought I'd configure RR on my desktop then copy the files to the other machine when done this way it's all set when I do the install.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this?

1. Everytime I go an click on the icon for GPS it opens GPS MAP but it is not sized correctly in DFX SKIN. I kinda thought it would be FIXED inside of the GPS PAGE. (Kinda like how when you click on music or photos or the web nothing moves just stays in one place.) So if i click by mistake just below the map window, the map window disapears and i have to reload rr all over again. John, I watched your video and in the video you say if you save the screen even if you get out of it, It will still be the same as you set it. But it doesn't stay. Did I miss something?

2. And when I click on gas prices, weather, and gauges, nothing works. Example, Gas prices will only find the nearest gas station if i put in the zip code. (WHAT IF I AM SOMEWHERE I DON'T KNOW THE ZIP RIGHT? LOL) Gauges, the compass on the gauges does nothing other then read NORTH all the time. do i need so set something for the GPS to correct this? WEATHER, at the top right of the weather, it reads GPS Weather, does this change on location of the car? I will be driving to TX in two weeks and was wondering if this would change as I drive?

Thanks if anyone can answer these questions that would be very cool!

Thanks again
Phil

I am sorry to have to say this, but read the help manual. It covers everything you just asked above, with illustrations and specific instructions.

I am not trying to be rude, but I just do not have the patience or time any longer to answer these same questions for the 10th time sorry........

Make sure, you don't have X-Port(if using it) for both applications. Iguidance needs it's own COM # as well as RR. Lets say 13 for Iguidance and 14 for RR. If they are set the same one or the other will not work. If you have an internet connection at all times in your vehicle then yes the GPS weather should update. If not well...Again, pick the help file and threads apart, it's all there, 10 times.

I have found the problem with iLists not getting disabled. Not all plugins are following the on/off rules.

Like Jukebox:
Code:
IL,CL,transparent.bmp,sel.bmp,end.bmp,1,70,50

I have a way to fix it so all people who cant use iLists can still use these plugins.

Is there a way to do "if then else" in a skin?

Example:
Code:
If $iListStatus = "on" Then IL,CL,transparent.bmp,sel.bmp,end.bmp,1,70,50 Else LIST,CL,transparent.bmp,sel.bmp,end.bmp,1,70,50 EndIf

If not, can someone point towards what I could use to do this?

I will then update all the skins that are not using the "ilist status" and post them up here.

Thanks, Lew

P.S. This will also allow me to use all plugins via RDP by simply disabling iLists first. Then enabling them when I am done.

kinda covered that already....

and I believe I read in more places than one that IG needs to have an assigned port that is lower than 9...so setting it to 13 as your example suggests may cause problems for some. Also, I think GPS weather has nothing to do with having an internet connection...not positive...but the name GPS WEATHER, to me, implies that the weather info is coming from a compatible GPS receiver, and you can get weather without a internet connection...correct me if I'm wrong

John,

I know your not being rude, but you have to understand one thing, It is one thing to read the manual (and I did indeed read it) But it's another thing to understand it. You and pretty much everyone else on this forum have been doing this for years and some of you are even programmers by trade. So when people like me that don't do this kind of programming on a day to day basis we have NO clue what we are even reading. Well, can't say that about all of us, but I know when I read the manual, I had no clue what to do about setting up my pictures. I had a good hunch i needed to point my path to the image file, however i would of never knew that i had to go into note pad to change and edit to get the correct photo's to work.

All i am saying is, until we learn as much as you guys all do, just cut us some slack and PLEASE stop thinking all of us newbie's are just begging for help, I know I speak about myself when i say this, but when I am looking for something I do search it, and read tons nightly. I been doing this for months now! So to me it is a slap in the face when I get someone saying hey we not spoonfeeding you, I am like damn just asking for some help thats all!!

Thank you and hope you have a great night!

Phil

This is something that is also another fix in the next release...there were probably some screens that John missed in the mist of getting everything together. iLists will be able to be turned on/off in the skin as a whole.

Exactly! I have all the right to "run" my mouth.... I only have TWO things left to be ( looked at/addressed ), so my end should be done at the same time john finishes up his little tweaks(I starting to wonder too, if they ever do stop myselft )

First Post for me...Hope its ok!

Hey guys, i have been lurkin around on here for quite sometime amazed at the whole CarPC thing. I am an IT Technician in my everyday job so I love this kind of stuff. I have a 95 Trans Am, and will be putting a CarPC in it now!

I have read and read and read and still cant find a straight answer to this, so I hope you guys can help me. I dont have the PC in my car yet, but I configured RR with DFX3 on a laptop to mess around with it, everything works great.

My question is, I am going to have 1 Amp hooked up to my car door speakers, and 1 amp hooked up to 2 (12" subs). On my current Pioneer HU I have 3 sets of Preamps, so I can turn the subs on and off whenever i feel like it.

Where in DFX3 would I be able to control wether I want my subs on or not? Or is it even possible? I would like to rid of the pioneer HU, but thats my obstacle right now is this, because i dont want to have the subs on all the time, i use them 50/50.

Thanks so much!

Matt

This seems more of a hardware related topic than a topic for the DFX3 skin, you might find more help in either the RR forums or the hardware forums, one thing that comes to my mind is to check out the fusion brain because unless I'm wrong you will need something "hardware related" to control this. you can find info about this in the hardware forums.

That's definitely hardware and which soundcard solution you ultimately go with.

Thanks I posted over in the hardware and already got a few good responses.

So any idea when the new DFX release is coming out with the virtual CD Changer? I messed around with many many skins for RR and it is by far the best one ever! I think that virtual CD Changer will be the coolest, i cant wait to get my hands on it!

DFX has the most "toys" incorporated than pretty much any other skin other than possibly LSX Void.

Yeah thats exactly what I like and need. The more toys to play with the better! I like the fact that there is ALOT of customization you can do to it as well as far as your own wallpapers, colors, pictures, icons, without actually having to use a skin editor.
