Since switching to Ride Runner, I haven't been able to load Garmin in this skin. Pressing the Navigation button does nothing. Looking in the debug file, it mentions trying to run destinator.
I looked in the exectbl.ini and it has different names for the Garmin bits than the old Ride Runner used to. I mucked around a bit with the button commands on menu.skin in Nav2, but although I was able to get the overlay and the OSK to show up, Garmin itself would not load.
This is probably a configuration issue on my end as I have an issue with launching Garmin in the Carwings skin. Same thing happens, I get the "loading nav..." screen and nothing happens.
However, if I launch Garmin before launching Ride Runner, THEN launch Ride Runner, selecting Garmin works just fine (i.e. it embeds in the window and functions like it is supposed to). That means the commands I think are supposed to launch Garmin are not doing so. I've checked the paths repeatedly and I am sure they are right.
What am I missing?

Ensure the window name is
Garmin Mobile PC
path is H:\GMPC\Que.exe or similar.
Needs to point to Que.exe
The current version of my skin doesnt really do anything special to launch Garmin. Simply the GPS command should do it. It doesnt use an overlay for the GPS screen anymore unless launching the OSK. This was done to lower confusion when trying to get this thing to work also so that I could add additional features to the GPS menu later on.
Try downloading the most recent version of this skin. Do not change the button commands and see if it works. If not it is something with your configuration is incorrect. Make sure the GPS mode you selected is External

Hi Thunderstick!
I have just finished changing my skins to handle Garmin Mobile PC instead of nRoute, and then I found your thread here! Looks good, so may have to have a closer look at your handywork.
Meanwhile can you answer a few questions please?
1. What OS are you using? XP? Vista?
I liked the text to speech in Vista. Set it all up in Vista on the carputer laptop, but when I installed it in the vehicle the Fn+F5 keys would not switch the display to the external monitor. Seems many people have the same problem with laptops that originally had XP installed. So I'm now back to XP, without GMPC speaking street names for turns.
2. Have you been able to get rid of the warning "I agree" nag when GMPC is fired up? If the warning is ignored, it goes away by itself after some time. Need to shorten that delay time somehow.
Thanks,

I use XP, seems VISTA is too bloated and just not what I need. XP works great and I have no problems with it.
No the nag is there for everyone. I suppose a script could be written so that when you open it for the first time it would automatically hit the nag button. But it is easy enough to just hit it with your finger anyway.

Thanks a lot Thunderstick, I am a Garmin fans, just found this thread.
Downloading and still needs few more minutes to try it on.
For those of you like to have TTS (speak street names) in Windows XP, just grab it from ht**://www.mediasemantics.com/MSMikeMary.msi
This TTS is only for XP (Speech API runtime-SAPI 5.1) and for Vista using SAPI 5.3 that TTS Anna has already integrated.
As alternatives TTS voice on GMPC accepts Microsoft Mary,Anna and Male voice Mike.
Try to edit string "Name" at registry from Microsoft Mike to Anna.
Such as :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech\Voice s\Tokens\MSMike\Attributes]
"Gender"="Male"
"Language"="409;9"
"Name"="Microsoft Anna"
"Age"="Adult"
"Vendor"="Microsoft"
Now you have two choices TTS Voices:
1. American English - Mary (Speaks street names)
2. American English - Anna (Speaks street names)
Enjoy
Big Thanks

This release contains a complete re-write of the speedzone plugin. This new plugin allows you to have unlimited speedzones, Compiles them for use for display in an iList, Lets you delete a zone from in RR, add a description to the zone, displays an optional popup for when you enter a zone, executes a command upon zone entry (rr or command line), changes the speed limit to the preset zone speed limit upon zone entry then returns to the default speed limit upon exiting the zone, detects the zone according the direction your were driving when you setup the zone. The speed limit pluggin is also much less reliant on RR so it will not interfere with the performance of RR. It uses it's own variables taken from it's own INI so there is not much constant communication with RR at all. A BIG STEP FOR THIS SKIN
In this release I also eliminated the slider which indicated the speed monitoring and replaced it with indicator LED's at the top of the menu screens. The first LED inidcates it is monitoring and will blink. The second indicates visible sattelites, third that the car is moving and the fourth that you are in a zone. The first led blink ever 1 to 2 seconds to indicate it is working.

Hey ThunderStick,
It's a great update than I love .
-When i exit RR, speedlimit.exe (riderunner.exe in the task manager ???) are not killed and stay on the tray bar .
-I am french, and some speedlimit's messages are in english.
Can you add other settins (skin.ini i think) to set any message in any language .
by exemple add that:
SLSPK5=you are now in a speed zone
SLSPK6=your speed and position ???? monitored
SLSPK7=the default speed limit set is xx miles per hour
Thanks again for this very nice skin

WIth the current release it doesnot use the SLSPK messages.
As far as any language it depends on your text to speech engine. You can change those messages to anything you like. As far as the announcements, possibly in the future I can set it up so that it will use messages saved in an INI file so that they can be changed to any language.
As for now though NO CAN DO.. sorry
I do like the idea and it probably wont be too hard to impliment so this will probably happen. Though is completely new and I just wanted to make sure it works well before I went ahead and added a bunch of additional features.

Looks great! I like the track scrolling. Resizing to 1024x768 screws up labels for me.
But where did "video" go? No player or browser skin.
And what's with the backgrounds? Your readme.txt says:
"(*1) Make sure you have images in your (RRPATH)\Backgrounds folder"
and I do but the background skin reads $picspath$ and then tries to load the pic from $Backgroundspath$; I'm confused. To top that off, every time I change the background, another instance of speedlimit.exe is loaded in the tray.
Need to wait a couple days for it to warm up again before I can test radio and XM.
