Question

Hi LS,
I've been a long time user of the original lsx, loved that skin.
In fact, it was so good i downloaded lsx void expecting more of the same excellence.
I seem to have a problem though. It's probably something simple that I just can't see.
When I run RR with the LSXvoid skin, I get an error 13 type mismatch from RR. I uninstalled RR completely, removed the original skin, reinstalled RR from guino's site and then ran the lsx void installer. Same result, error 13. RR doesn't even get past the opening screen, it starts winamp and shuts down.
I even loose the taskbar on the desktop.
Any ideas of where i should look?

Skin looks nice from what I have seen so far though.

Cheers

BJ

what i did to make sure everything was current and fresh.......

download the RR installer that has bmv2 and all the paths all in it.. then install the lsx2.x then switch the skin inside roadrunner.
Its easier if you use the installer with the bmv skin and paths all setup for you. Try that and see if it works.

I'm trying a fresh install as we speak.

BMV2 skin? Is that the one on guino's site?

is there a way to make it so that the button is not highlighted when the mouse is over it?

My problem is that when I say, hit the close button on the GPS, Audio, or Video screens and it goes back to the main menu screen, the button in the bottom left screen remains highlighted red. I was wondering if this was avoidable

Got it.

There was a few left over files which, after deleted, works fine.

Just need a couple days to play with it now.

A few newb questions so far:
The flash "compass" leaves a large white box behind when turned off and I do not prefer the large blue bar in the middle of the display when turned on. Is this normal? Is there a setting in order to let the back ground show through or will I have to get into editing something? Perhaps I'll change the blue bar to charcoal or tranparent.

*EDIT* Aww crap, just re-read the thread. never mind, post 103 and 105 seem to adress the issue. I'll check it out. *EDIT*Just checked, I'm using flash player 8 and have the white box when the compass is turned off. *EDIT AGAIN!* flash player 9 fixed the white bar problem, apparently 8 doesn't work properly with the skin. Cheers.*

Also, the day skin seems to be the night screen but with black letters on the black background. All the other day skins are bright (grey vice black). Has a skin been installed into the wrong folder or is this normal? *EDIT* stil haven't sorted this one out yet.

Can't wait to see how this skin lends itself to the customizations that I like! It seems pretty good as is so far, just a little rearranging to better suit my uses and prefs.

LS's skins always amaze me with the amount of work that goes into them and then he just gives them away! And supports them too!
My hat's off to you sir, Well done!

Cheers

BJ

just a bit too dark...

What an amazing skin. I am impressed by your artistic skills as well as your coding prowess This is definitely the direction that most skins should move towards: easy utility, easy configuration, adaptability on the fly.

I am also impressed with how well it works on my epia mobo!

I just downloaded/installed the 2.01 release from the first page and my only "complaint", if you will, is that the DAY skin is too dark for me to see... I looked for a setting to make it brighter, and even looked thru the skin folder to see if I could manually change it to one of those nice grey backgrounds (instead of the really dark grey bg), but no luck so far. It almost looks like the night skin was left in the day skin folder given that it doesn't match the rest of the daytime skin.

Am I crazy or just missing something simple? Everything looks great on the rest of the pages (Sirius, Music, etc) in the bright light, but the main screen is so dark I can't even read what the buttons are.

Thanks so much!

EDIT: I just went out and verified that the text on the DAY screen main menu is in black, as if it were expecting a nice gray background behind it (the same that works well on all of the other day screens). Is there a quick fix for this?

EDIT2: FIXED - I had found a background image that looked proper to use (menu_alt2_off.jpg) but it didn't work when I edited the main.skin. I then realized that comments (/,) do not work in the upper lines of the .skin file, and so it was still loading the night time images that I had commented out. I removed the old line, and replaced it with this, and now it works fine:

menu_alt2_off.jpg,menu_alt2_off.jpg,menu_alt2_on.j pg,menu_alt2_on.jpg

I suspect that this is still something that might be worth fixing in the installer though.

thanks

Great,
I saw those files also but haven't gotten around to messing with it.
Thanks for doing the leg work, I'll give it a try!

This was a screw up in the last patch that by default the main menu for the daytime skin is using night time images.
2 files need to be replaced, or rather they need to be created as they dont exist for the day version.

Little background:

On the last update, i added a new feature or new main menu choice.

There are 11 main menu's you can choose to use. To access them and choose one. From inside the skin click the OPT button, then go to page 2 (right big arrow).
CLEAN is the newest choice but there is not a version of this choice for the daytime menu. I was going to just post the 2 image files later to enable this choice for daytime, which was fine and dandy until I made the mistake of making this menu the default choice in the last update by mistake.

The quick fix: Simply load the dayskin and go to OPT>second page> and choose a different main menu. "BIG VIS opt1" is the default, "BIG VIS" and "SMALL VIS" are the default looks from the previous versions of this skin.

Ill update the links with the correct changes shortly

also posted a manual install version, read LSX_VOID_MANUAL_INSTALL_README.txt for instructions on how to install by hand.

LS - amazing work...

LS ---

Absolutely amazing work on Void 2 --- LUVIN the DAY skin and your artwork simply takes that cake. I have been so busy - that I did not have time to really mess around offline with tweaking, so installed this fresh in a CarPC (as you would hope would be the case) - assigned buttons, was GOLDEN. My sincere thanks to you for amazing work.

Again - been very busy so just keeping my eyeballs open lately and had a question for you. Have you ever tested or integrated the GAS-NAV stuff into VOID? I can't seem to get that working in other skins so maybe I am missing a step - I did all the Reg Hacks and misc - but don't think you added this. Could you not get it to work either?

Last question was did you make a new ResHack of IG3 for this purpose?

Thanks again - more curious than anything sir but wonderful work.

Thx

VOID2 and SkinEditor...

LS -

I assume this is since you are using Var's for the fonts - but is there any way or trick you found to have Skin Editor understand the .txt file so it shows the fonts vs odd characters --- I am using the new RR Skin Editor and need to see if the old version did this too.

Just curious - or perhaps we need to live with this one.

Thanks ---

thadude is an unknown quantity at this point
I just want to say that I love your skin.

But I am having one problem. When listening to music, the play list doesnt switch to the song I am listening to unless i change screens, ie if i am at the main menu and select audio it will reflect the correct song, otherwise it will have the wrong song selected.

I am guessing this is a flash issue, but I have did the flash work around, (flash.zip) I have also lowered my video hardware accelaration.

I am using a sp13000 mobo

Thanks,

i got a little confused on the gas stuff because of the two separate versions of the feature, one a plug in and the other native to RR. I only integrated the native version. Im not sure of the full specs of the native version and if it will send a route to IG for you or not. Ill look into it today and see. If there are some features that are missing in my skin for native gas ill add them.

I havnt started the next IG3 res hack yet, the 3.1 update pretty much put that on hold as now ill have to redo the reshack from scratch and it takes a lot of time and is very tedious. But its coming.
