Thanks Guino. I am running Win XP Pro. I have DirectX 9.0c installed and DXdiag says its working great. All tests pass. I have re-downloaded the dll in question and re-registered it (in windows/system32) and reboted and tested DXDiag, still says everything works.... but I get the same response - which is RR at 100% instantly.
update: I downloaded and reinstalled the latest Directx 9.0c just to be safe and I even manually re-registered the dll, it said successfull. No love however. I realize this is problem is probably not skin related, but related to my pc and the latest RR. I'm running the Nov 2nd version btw.
2nd update - I found it.... I was in 800x600 32 bit.... I read on a VB/DirectX site that it might be my HW having a problem. Anyway, I lowered res to 800x600x16 and it worked right away - I'm running an older Intel board with Intel 82815 Graphics on board. in case anyone else has this issue.

i also can't get the history/playlist function to work properly. at one point, i did have a few playlists saved (by holding down the left playlist arrow and selecting individual slots). however, when i loaded up a new playlist in slot 5 and tried to save it, it overwrote the previous 4, and then they were all identical. also, clicking the playlist button brings up a list of playlists along the top with what looks like a library list below, but saving, renaming, or loading seems to serve no functions with these lists. the names of the playlists dont change when i try to edit it, and the list below is showing my entire library, not the playlist i have selected. maybe i am using the feature all wrong, but i bascially cant get it to save or load any previously saved lists...
in regards to your post about RRearth having issues, would a newer version of GE cause problems with weird embedding when clicking on the library? it seems strange because going to any other screen seems fine, but when i got to library it screws up at that time only. seems like more of a skin issue. ill try and get a debug file to see whats going on.
all is not bad though, and i did notice a GREAT feature when using winamp 5 with the media library enabled. i noticed that in the RR library, i now get an option to browse by artist, genre, or album. that's AWESOME!! and i would recommend anyone that is still using winamp 2 to upgrade to 5.13, activate the media library, and make use of this awesome feature, because ive been wanting to be able to browse like that for quite some time!!
mini command: The freezing when going to mini mode multiple times, then into audio is likely a Direct X issue with your machine.
it sounds like u dont have something setup correctly. The playlist features for the most part havnt changed since the last release. Because you are seeing your entire library on the playlist screen tell me that you dont have your path set for where the playlist files are stored, which is why none of the features that use playlist are working correctly. They all are looking for your $playlistpath$ which if doesn't exist then everything will fail that looks at that path.
You dont have to manually save playlist when u load a new one if that playlist is already stored in a slot.
On the PLIST screen the 5 buttons on the top row will show the 5 preset slot items or if in History Mode will show the last 5 playlists loaded.
The list below it should ONLY contain playlist files (.m3u files)
If it shows anything else, your not rr.ini is not setup correctly.
The only new feature or change to the playlist in 3.0 compared to 2.0 is the addition of the History Mode, which didnt require any of the existing code to change at all, the only thing i did was force a save everytime you load a new item from the Library.
So the code for the playlists features is almost 2 years old.
GE: If your only having problems with GE when clicking on the Library button, again its likely a DX issue with your box/video card. Since GE uses DirectX and or OpenGL to display the map, the Library screen has a list that uses DX. So there is probably an issue with your hardware that dosnt like switching to multiple dx apps.
Grab the new version of RR, there are some fixes for the DX stuff and ilist, see if that helps you any.

thanks for taking the time to respond ls. i'll look into said issues, esp with the playlists (can i just set the playlist path to whatever i want, or does it have to point somewhere?). im running an nlite version of xp, so its possible i am having directx issues, but i REALLY hope its not that.

He didnt took the file offline just to **** everyone out.. he took it offline because he wanted to do some bugfixes, so everyone wouldnt be posting that they have probs etc.
We just need to wait for him to give it a green light, upload a new version, and we all be happy again

ideally you should create a folder that is inside of your media library, and use that as the place where all your playlist files are stored. For my setup the name of the playlist folder is "-{saved list}-" with the dash and bracket so its always at the top of the list in the audio browser, as not every skin will support a playlist view screen like my skin does.
IMO using nlite or any other utility to gut windows is a bad idea unless you really know what your doing. And i suspect most dont, cuz if they did they really wouldn't need nlite to do it. It sounds like a great idea on paper, but im willing to bet the most users with any problems with any software are those with gutted windows installs. But the boot up time savings arent worth it for me personally when you take into account the amount of time you have to trouble shoot any said piece of software that isnt working correctly. Is it not working correctly because of my setup? Or because of a bug? Its hard to tell even on a stock xp install, and when its not stock it just compounds the problem.
So if you are having direct X issues thats the first place i would look. Install Road Runner and the skin on another machine that is not gutted and see what happens.

PS: here's my video skin files from 3.0 if that helps. Also my debug and rr.ini
in your rr.ini file you have a number of things not setup or setup wrong.
your background = line is not pointed to an actual image but just a path.
If you set the background using my skin, it saves the info into the skin.ini file so you maynot even notice or have a problem.
are your videos really stored in mydocuments?
no music path set
no playlist path set
launch path incorrect
i notice you are using iGuidance
your gpspath should look like this
gpspath=C:\Program Files\iNav\iGuidance\iGuidanceUMPC.exe|nowarning
you also want to set
ignative=TRUE
i dont even see that line in your file
your video settings look ok to me, but you are getting all those MCI errors in your debug file (only guino knows what the codes mean) but it looks like MPC is crashing on just starting. Have you ran it stand alone and configured it at all?
What version of MPC do you have? the one im using is 6.4.8.2
Do you have any other skins to test video on? If you were having problems going to the videobrowser thats definitely a skin issue, but the video player hasnt changed since the last version.
I would try to find out exactly what the MCI errors mean and go from there.

Is anyone else using a Silabs?
EDIT
New (smaller) debug file attached.
the first thing i see wrong in your bebug is this line
Error loading plugin: RREarth (ActiveX component can't create object)
if your not using google earth i guess ignore it, but if so it seems you have some issues with activeX and or DirectX since GE also uses DirectX.
now for the radio.
Since i do not have any radio hardware i dont know what any of those buttons really do in practice. But lucky for you when i click the Function button it also appears to hang RR on my end. Its not really hanging though, if you press the ESC key RR will come back. So it looks to me that its either waiting for something to load (thats missing) likely missing on my end also since i dont have any radio hardware. Or its failing to do something. Ill look in the skincommands and try to see what exactly is supposed to happen when u click that button.
****
OK, looking at the Skincommands, the function button is supposed to show the RADIO_MENU_FUNCTION.skin as a pop up screen.
The .skin file does exist and its just a standard popup with buttons. It looks exactly like the pop up you get when you click the top left button.
Doing some more testing , it seems there is an issue with this screen, i cant load it either. So im looking into it more right now, so stop looking into it on your end. This looks to me like an issue with the skin or RR, will know more in a bit.
