i agree with LS on Nlite
it is really not worth it .especially when you can get a 15 sec boot time without nlite using stock xp. like i have. mostly reg changes and shut off a few services and start up files.
have a look at the optimizing xp in the main forum menu.

i did only shut down the services and remove certain components such as IE and WMP and games as per the recommendations on this forum (not RR, but mp3car). i dont think with my p4 1.6 i can get boot times of less than 25 seconds even WITH nlite. i'll look into it but i dont think i disabled anything graphics or dx related. i guess i can run a dxdiag and see if any files are missing.

if not for boot times, then what really is the point of nlight? Just to have a smaller install in hopes of a more stable system? Personally i just dont see any of it as being worth the effort. I dont mean to pick on you so please dont take it that way. This goes for anyone using nlight or any other app that guts windows. IE and WMP are so tied into the OS i would never remove them, what for? Not bothering anyone. And IMHO WMP11 is by far the best media player out. It may not have the same file format support as something like VLC (done on purpose, similar to itunes) but as far as everything else its way better than winamp, itunes and all the other crap out there, but it took a long time to get to that point cuz wmp sucked *** for years.
But the point im trying to make, is once you start removing system files from the OS, your kind of on your own as far as support goes for the OS and any apps you install on it. I can help you with some things (as far as the skin goes) but ultimately there is only so much im going to do as i have no idea what kind of system you have setup. Ive spent hours with people in the past (multiple times) trouble shooting issues only to find out they have a year old install of RR. When you throw in a stripped down OS, who knows whats really going on. I dont. And you likely dont either.
The best thing to do is not to even mention nlight. I know, sounds crazy coming from me, since basically im telling you to lie to me. But once i hear nlight or anything like that, im taking a step back and whatever issues u may have arent at the top priority as they would be for someone with a stock system. First isolate your issues and make sure they are not related to your OS in anyway, then ask for help.
The best way to isolate something in regards to RR skins, is to try another skin and see if the same thing works there. That one thing tells me right away its an issue with the skin and not RR or your sytem. If the other skin dosent have that feature then try to explain in great detail whats going on. Try as many different scenarios as possible and list those things when asking for help. It helps others help you a great deal.
Again this isn't all directed at you, but just to everyone in general.
When the download for the skin comes back online, ill also provide a copy of my rr.ini file and any other settings so others can see how i have things setup on my end so people can compare them to there setups.

i completely understand where you're coming from. theres no way you can troubleshoot an issue if there are so many variables. i did use nlite to improve my boot time as well as speed (less services running), because without nlite my boot time was like 45 seconds.
anyways, i think what's best at this point is to wait til you have whatever bugs worked out that you wanted and post the installer back up. then when other people download it, we can see if multiple people are having similar issues. if its just me, then of course its something i've got to fix on my end. anyways, no offense taken, its completely understandable, and we'll just wait and see how these few issues play out. i havent even been able to install the newest 11-2 RR yet so maybe that will solve some of the ilist problems automatically.
p.s. do you think running a dxdiag would allow me to see if all my dx components are working properly, or maybe ill just download the dx9 installer and reinstall all of it.

that sounds like a plan to me.
as for the DX , i think doing both of those things are good and should make sure your DX is at least installed correctly and no missing files.
also, i would take a look at your videocard and make sure you have the latest drivers for it. Those three things should set you straight for the most part as far as DX goes and the rest lies in the hands of guino and me to an extent.
Also if you have a spare machine testing there will help alot with DX issues.

yep, i appreciate the advice. unfortunately my main pc is a mac, and i do have windows running inside parallels desktop, but i beleive it has dx issues because the audio screen causes a lockup (giving a dxinit error in debug.txt), and in the playlist screen the ilist window is blank. all other skins and features seem to be working fine, but then again this is the first skin i know of that uses the ilist feature.
oddly enough, software like google earth, all the winamp visualizations ive tried, and every other piece of software ive attempted to use works fine on both my home(mac) and carpc, and im pretty sure GE as well as some of the winamp visualizations (milkdrop) use directx for rendering.
anyways ill keep you and guino posted and hopefully the ilist issues can be worked out (it seems like many ppl are having the same issues based on the thread in the main forum), and i bet that all the skin issues are directly related to that. thanks for a wonderful skin and the support you're providing for it.

Hello all,
FYI:
As I said in previous post, I first installed LSXVOID on a French Windows, I had then some 4, 8, and & displaying as Play, forward, and rewind buttons. I reinstalled my French copy but with everything set to English, and it works fine.
I can't remeber the post and searched, but since my MP3 are filed with Itunes, how can I set the LSXVoid playlist to read the ones created in Itunes? And, has Smart List been adapted to 3.0?
Thxs

early birds got the worm and you thomass are a very late birdie. Its gonna rain again pretty soon, so another worm will surface from the earth. This time i think there will be enough warms to feed all the hungry birdies.

glad u got that english/french thing squared away.
as for itunes, what i think you are asking and correct me if im wrong.
You want the playlist that are inside of itunes to also show up in the skin?
Ill try to answer your question as best i can. I just got a ipod touch a few weeks ago, so although ive used itunes before, its just until now that im actually FORCED to really use it ( and ill take this time to say once again, iTUNES sucks monkey balls!!) so bare with me.
Afaik, there is no way to export the playlist from inside of itunes to a standard .m3u playlist file that winamp and Road Runner can read. The only options i see is to export the playlist as a txt file or xml file. In either case, another piece of software will be required to process the files and remove all the crap thats in them. The txt file it exports looks like a spreadsheet with rows for each item and the xml file has a standard xml tree which may be easier to process. But in any case its not a simple matter.
Now depending on what kind of ipod you have and what version of itunes, you should be able to hook your ipod up to your carputer and RR will read the music from the device natively. I dont know the specifics of this as it doesn't work with the ipodtouch or iphone.
Hope that was some kind of help.
as for smart list, what smart list are you talking about? The one in itunes or a RR plugin?

i planned on doing it today, but on Friday i had an emergency with my tooth. One of the fillings in my tooth came out and exposed the nerve ending in my tooth (OUCH!!), so ive been pretty doped up the last few days. Today im good for the most part and not in pain anymore.
Right now looking over the recent post to make sure i havnt forgotten anything. Will prob re-release this week. Have a few work related items that are taking priority over the skin today.

Yeah....I suspect that some pain killers had to do with this response.
