Whew, audio issue sorted.

Now it's back to just the original video not palying in main video screen. Damn MCI errors............

Might there be a .dll that needs to be registered that I missed?

Anyone?

Thanks LS, radio skin now sorted.

A quick question or two.

Is it possible to go from listening to radio to listening to audio with one click?............Does that make sense?

Also, I'm probably just a bit stupid but I can't get the hang of playlists. I've created some in winamp and saved them in my music folder but how do I use them in the skin?

hmmm......seems I'm not alone with the video issue........

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/soft...oadrunner.html

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/rr-b...video-bug.html

It also seems it might not be a void issue. The problems mentioned above are the exact issue I'm having.............

*edit* So, it's pretty much narrowed down in my mind. It's a problem with the internal player (or rr integration of it). If I use MPC everything will play, but it integrates into the skin like crap and all kinds of weird things happen (black screens, unresponsive, etc). But it will play. If I use the internal player, nothing works. Nothing. And I've tried loading codecs, etc in an attempt to make it work. I can't wait until Vlan gets integrated into the skn as an option.........too bad it's so much work and low on the priority list (if I get guino's posts correctly). Sigh, I'l just have to live without video playback til then..................

*More sleuthing-I do have the mciavi drv in tne windows sytem 32 file. there's got to be a "mishandling of data" here somewhere.............

*Ah, another possibility just cropped up. c:\windows\system32.dll was loaded, but the dllregisterserver entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered.
Could an unregistered mciavi32.dll file be my problem? hmm............

possibly. Glad that its confirmed not to be a skin problem. Ive tested the video on at least 5 different machines since release and they all run video fine, internal or with MPC. Was going a little co-co trying to repro that bug. So even though it looks to be a RR problem, there has to be something in common with all those having that issue. The only video problem ive seen recently is that the video wont pause automatically when going into the video browser.

Maybe try to download that dll from somewhere and register it, sounds like the one u have may be damaged?

if you run winamp standalone and point it to your media library and let it build the database, when you Run RR you will get the pseudo itunes browse method.

Ill take a look at teh smart playlist, but i think i did at some point in the past and didnt like the way it worked, i think it dosnt work on your media library but on playlists or something. There is a database thing comeing up thats looking interesting and i think it does the smart list thing and more.

Hmm, downloaded the .dll rom serveral sources, won't register.

Anyways, as I understand it (lots of reading), the internal player is just windows through the mci (which is a legacy API). mot sure if mpc even comes into play here.

Would sort of explain why everything will play in the "preview pane" (starts mpc to play) but won't in the main video screen. I'm thinking it's a rr bug. Maybe it has something to do with wmp11 being on my system.

I'm watching those two threads now to see what develops............

Untill then, no video for me

I'll update if I run across a solution.

Cheers

building the media library in winamp has been the best way ive found to get to play a certain artist, album, or genre. only thing i miss is not having a search button, but with the ilist, scrolling through is easy. i have seen some other skins that incorporate a search button along with it (i think digitalfx) so you can search for a particular artist or album. i hate to say it, but to date the best and most easy to use audio/video interface has been with centrafuse, because it builds its own media library (including videos) and allows you to search by song name, genre, artist, album, or filename, and then brings up *every* media file containing the keyword. you can either then choose a certain song out of that list, or play the entire list of songs containing you keyword. the playlists are also nice because it automatically saves up to 10, so you can cycle through easily. i guess thats similar to the history feature in this skin but im still trying to get it to work for me.

i agree, media manager in CF is nice. Using a database opens a lot of options. The history option does work like that to a degree, its still a bit rough around the edges im finding though, you may want to go into OPT>General Options>Audio Plaayer CFG and set it to use playlist mode instead of history. It will work the same way except it wont automatically save the list for you. If you tried 2.x thats the way it worked in there.
Speaking of CF, a lot of things in CF are really nice. The biggest downside though is its lack of customization and this is where RR is leaps and bounds above anything else you will find anywhere. But the way RR handles audio and video could be improved a lot.

i really think that incorporating a media player into RR instead of having dependencies on winamp and MPC is the first step. but then again, this is an awesome piece of software worked on by people who do it for free, so who am i to complain! setting up the media library in winamp at least makes things tolerable, without that, things would really stink. right now i guess the only thing not possible is to search directly by song name (but maybe digitalfx has that feature, and didn't your 2.0 skin as well?)
