Don't fret...

its only 10:00pm in Chicago...Sunday's not over yet.

LS did say he was out all weekend, and wouldn't be able to do anything till late Sunday. I'm hoping for a nice surprise in the morning!

Ive been in Wisconsin all weekend and unfortunately i left my power cable to my laptop at home so it sucked pretty bad, esp since there wasn't any wifi at the hotel (not that i could have used it anway) and no 3G reception on my phone (stuck with slow as edge speeds all weekend). So there hasn't been any movement on my end at all.

Plans for this week are to make sure everything is in order, issue a beta to those who are already expecting one for a while now and if there are no outstanding bugs release 3.0 (night version) this coming weekend, most likely on sunday as that is the usual release day, if that window gets missed it automatically goes to the next sunday.
If that goes as plans, i will begin work on the day version shortly after, which should have a very short turn around, maybe 2-3 weeks tops.

Then i will begin work on something i call Ether.

yeah, Ether is something ive been wanting to start for a long, time. There is even a locked thread waiting for me to open once dev for it starts.

Ether will likely be my last skin for RR, as it takes a significant amount of time getting things just the right way. It will not be built ontop of VOID. VOID has been updated and rewritten, converted etc originaly from LS2.0 the first RR skin i did which followed LS3.0, then VOID 1.0 and now at current version 2.x So there is some fat that needs to be trimmed still.
VOID will still be used as a base for the new skin but more as reference for code than simply just making new graphics. Ether is still easily 6months away and a lot can change with RR in that time frame.

There may even be a VOID 3.0 SE before Ether. Which will focus primarily on users who have allways on internet in there car. An area that is significantly lacking in pretty much all frontends.

what OS are you running (just curious). Do you have any mods like tiny xp etc.

Ive only seen this problem on a very small amount of users, under 5 so im not sure what would stall the installer. Do you have any anti virus soft active that would interfere with the installer? Try to disable them if you do.
If you have another machine, try to install on that machine and see if it goes. You can copy the install from another machine. Just make sure copy the rr.ini from the machine you install from to the new one. Or follow the directions in addtorr.ini.txt file.

Let me check on the ftp there may also be manual install version available, i cant remember right now, at work. Actually, i wouldnt be able to check the ftp till i get home. Send my a PM with your addy and ill send you a link to the manual installer version.

Hi there, I've finnaly finnished my car pc and when i took it out for a test drive today I noticed that the compass doesn't change from pointing north and the speed at the top doesn't change as well. When I'm in iGuidence the compass and speed on that screen work just fine but then when i go back to the main screen they don't do anything. Any ideas why this might be? Thanks!

Hi,

This is a full XP install (my work laptop!) and I will try to actually install it in the car tomorrow and see if it works.

And yea a manual install version will be great!

your comm port for the gps mouse can only be read by one device at a time. However, there is a great solution called xport, which will split your comm port for you so lsx can point arrows and tell you have fast you just sped by the trooper.

You need to split your gps feed with a "port splitter" program.

Or you can just turn the compass off and you only have to deal with no speed displayed. Again, a port splitter will fix this if you really want it to work.

Just tried to install it in my car PC, and yay it works!

One question though - is there anyway to set it up to use it for resolutions other than 800x480? Ideally I want it to run at 720x480 as my K301 screen strangely doesn't remember its settings at 800x480

You can change it in RR.INI if I recall...........

BUt the skin may look a littel distorted at the that resolution.

Try 800x600, the skin is set up for that too. You can even select it with the "setup" menu in the skin.
