John,
Just wanted to say thanks again for the menu screen you made for me a while ago. It works great and the effort you are putting in is very much appreciated
Happy thanksgiving, Peace

Q&A & VBRuntime Files

[quote=05MaXSL;967853]Just wanted to say thanks for the awesome sking and give you a glimse of what it looks like in my car;

Wow! I like the clean install! That looks great! The blue seems to work in your car very well! Thanks for sharing the pics!

Even with a totally fresh install I still can't get the IG auto change to work and the open playlist still flashes on the screen when I load the browser. Since nobody else seems to be having these problems I'll have to keep playing with it. Neither issue is really a big deal to me.

Ok I am a bit puzzled.... where are you seeing the speed and altitude on the menu's? I had started to put them above the clock, and decided against it, as it looked to cluttered. I don't THINK the version I posted had this....

yea, the browser was an oversight on my part. Have a look a couple posts back for a fix till the next release.

I am chatting with LiquidSmoke as I am typing this and he had a good suggestion. Try downloading the latest version of the Microsoft VBRuntime and install that. With the issues you have been having over the past posts, something is definately not right somewhere. This MAY help, but I can't guarantee anything, but its definitely a good idea to try.

Below the clock on both menus.

I meant the web browser. For some reason the current playlist takes over the screen as the browser is loading.

I'll give that a try.

Love the new ver, it corrected the problem with my show map button. However there are a couple things I have problems with that I thought I would let you know.. Dont know if its just me or what but here goes:

1 when pressing GPS on menu one it loads the gas finder page and has iguidance opened ontop of it.. have to click the back arrow to get the actual iguidance menu back..(Used a single click with mouse, dont know if this has anything to do with something you said about pressing and holding the button down to go right to gas finder)

2 when in iguidance i go to system info and gps stats it shows me as having 0 sats. however if i close RR and open iguidance it shows 3/4 (im in the house)

3 when i go to menu 2 and click gps stats it locks up and have to end task it

I dont know if any of these are cause of my system personally or not but figured I would share.. Thanks for the great skin! love it!

1) This sounds like Road Runner issue, shome how with your setup. I just don't know what. try downloading the VBRuntime linked in the previous post and installing it. I say a system problem as I have check the code against Road Runners syntax, and it is left to Road Runner to handle the button once pressed. Tapping it should take you to GPS, and holding it for one second is the stats.

2) This is a typical GPS problem that can be caused by a couple of things. Open the Blue Devil Help file and go to "How Do I.... / Use more than one GPS device". If this is not the issue, check THIS POST for another possibly remedy

3) There is a 90% change this is being caused by a flash problem. THe system isn't really locking up, it just appears that way. The gauges are done in flash, and the processor is probably pegging out at 100%. To test, go to the GPS Status screen, end task and go to performance and check the processor usage. If it's at 100% you have found the problem. To fix it, check the BLue Devil help file again under "How do I... / Make the gauges work"

Let us know how it goes.

BTW: as today is a national holiday in the United States, I will be charging double for technical support till midnight.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Quick question on the PSD file. Are all the menus included or only the top level menu, because that's the only one I see.

Admittedly I've never used PhotoShop before and will have to figure it out, so maybe I'm doing something wrong but I just can't find any other menus.

Thanks, Z

This is a questions I can actually answer !!

In photoshop there is a layer table. Just click on the checks for the different layers you wish to turn on or off for the different menus. All the menus are in different layers.

Thanks, morris_the_cat. I had played with the layers a bit but thought I might be missing something.

So it looks like only Menu1 and Menu2 are included in this PSD?

Thanks, Z

Photo Shop questions

In the Menu's psd on the download site, both menu's are in that file (The main menu, and the secondary menu) in Photoshop, in the layers palletee in the bottom right, click the little "Eye looking icon" next to the layers to either make it visible or hidden. By default the 1st menu is displayed when opening the file. To show the 2nd menu, Click the eye icons next to menu 1 text and menu1 icons, to hide them then make the eye appear next to menu2 icons and menu2 text. Hope this makes sense to you

What about the PSDs for all the other skins? Do we have to reconstruct these from the 2 PSD files?

If you get a spare hour (hahahaha) do you fancy doing a BD skin for the TrafficDetails app?

As a Brit I have to ask, what is "Thanksgiving"?

I will look at that and see if I can do something for the BD skin.

Wow, thats a tough one, I am no historical scholar, but heres a brief explanation:

It started when the first Pilgrims from England had settled in the new land in the early 1600's. They had a successful harvest in the new country (Now known as the United States), and it was a celebration, and giving of thanks, for a prosperous harvest. It became known as "Thanks Giving" and a tradition that was celebrated every year, and continues here to this day. It's a day to be thankful for your country, family, prosperity and anything else that is positive in one's life.

Hey John,

I tried the new version today and even though I really like it...its almost unusable for me . I don't know if its my computer(its 1.5 Jetway with 1GB ram) or something else but it CRAWLS specially at the main screen.

When I click(touch) on GPS button, after 5 seconds or so the screen changes and gas finder screen comes and that stays for few seconds and then finally the GPS screen shows up.

And if I go to main screen from there again....same thing happens. Most of the time the main screen stops responding.

I think I should go back to the older version cuz it was much more stable and I had ZERO problems with it and specially since I'm on a road trip GPS is my life line

Where can I download, older version ?
