I tried this following the instructions to the letter and still had refresh problems. I know I have one of the slowest systems and slow internet, too. So what I did was add "||reloadskin||load;weather_Temperature.skin" to the end of the "ConvertMaps" line of the exectbl.ini. Reloading the whole skin resets everything and all maps are up to date when viewed. This also automatically sends me to the temperature screen after all the updates and the reload is done.

Traffic and Weather
I recently completed the build on my PC. Against some opinions I read on this board, I went ahead and installed Vista as the OS. I love RR and the Digital FX skin as I have tinkered with them on my XP desktop and hope that I can eventually load them on Vista. In the meantime, is there any way to access the weather and traffic through a shortcut without going through the browser and picking up all the ads and other crap? Sorry in advance if this is a noob question, but I am clueless about reading the code in RR & DFX. Thanks!

I am not really sure what you mean. Both the weather and traffic are features in the DIgitalFX skin, and the info is pulled from the net without any ad's ect. It just scrapes the sites, and displays the information in the skin using plugins.
vicky_obee: As for Phoco, I answered your PM that you sent yesterday.

Yeah, sorry for being vague. What I meant to ask is what you said: Can I install the plugin that scrapes the sites and displays the info without RR and Digital FX. Like I said, I hope to one day be able to use RR and your skin with Vista. For now, I will just use Windows as the FE and hope you guys find it plausible to make it compatible with Vista down the road.

Well, without using RR as the front end, there is no real way to parse/scrape the pages and such, so the simple answer is no.
On the other hand, what is the problem that you are having with Vista? I chat with Liquid Smoke frequently, and he has been using Road Runner on Vista for the past few months, and says he is having no problems. The only thing that I know not work correctly, is the mixer with the way Vista handles volume control now.
Actually, Vista would be a great OS for a car, if it just were not quite so resource hungry. With its "hybrid hybernate mode". The system goes into stand by and also saves the memory to disk. Thus if you return before the car battery goes low, you can resume instantly from standby. If the battery goes too low, it will shut down, and then you will just come out of hibernation. Unfortunately, most CarPC's just are not up to the specs to run Vista.
EDIT: Just had a chat with Liquid_Smoke. He says that you can not control the volume in RR in vista. This could be set, and just use a head unit to control the volume, as that is what I do now anyways with XP. Also to run RR under Vista, he said that you need to turn the Aero interface off. When I tested RR some time ago on Vista, I also noticed that RR would look funky and some screen half cut off with the Aero interface turned on.

Visulization not working.
Can some help with this issue. The visualization is not embedding nor is it transparent.
I followed the instructions in the DFX2.0 helper files. I am also running WinAmp 5.13
Thanks!

DigitalFX Video
Here is a link to a video I just did showing the DigitalFX skin in action, and some of it's features. I could not demo the Radio, XM, Phone and such, as all of that hardware is in the car, and I did this video here on my desktop PC.
EDIT: Sorry, it was a free service I was using, and they only allow 2 Gigs a month in transfer. It appears that it was used up in a matter of 6 hours!

Look at post 1069 for transparency fix. Make sure you have "AVS Window" selected in rr.ini
A version of winamp (don't remember which) don't embed correctly no matter what you do - try dropping down to ver 2.15.
EDIT: You also need to set your ID3 tags (rr.ini) to "mix V1 with V2" so you get rid of those strange characters in you song titles
