No offense, but those red screens remind me of my old apple IIe mono monitor. To each his own, but give me color!

Glad to see you back, I thought you switched over to CrystalBlue Sorry to hear about the computer! I have been there myself before!

It's no big deal if you have a reason because I can edit the skins manually, but I thought I'd point it out in case it was an oversight.
Also, I thought I'd remind you that you're using a different font at the top of menu 2, which has been previously mentioned, and let you know that you're also using a different font at the top of the minimized GPS skin, which I don't think anybody has yet mentioned.
I will add the extra tags for the next release. I will also check the font and see where I forgot to fix that at

Those screen look really nice! Please do not take any offense to this, but I think you should start a new thread in the skin forums. It is just so different than the DigitakFX skin, its not even related I REALLY like the look, and think it would make a great skin for sure!

If I may jump in here John in regards to the errors some of us are encountering using your installer.
Being a newbie, I need to get a custom to all these gadgets. Anyways, I've been receiving the same errors listed time and time again on the installer when trying to install the Red. I installed the blue version with no problems at all. Do you need to first install the blue version, then the other screen versions? Could this be why some of us are receiving those errors? If not, I guess it's just a freak of nature.
Of course I didn't read the manual but the blue version I d/l'ed (yesterday) I did not see any logos in the folder. Do I need to get them separately?
Thanks for not flaming, errr hoping!

Ok, I wont flame you TOO bad
The installer in question is the the whole Brushed Metal skin a page or so of posts back. Give that one a try and let me know if it works for you. When I get that working, I will update all the colors of the skin with the installer.
As for the logos, that is in the help file. Go to the second "main menu" and choose settings. From the list on the right, choose the logo you want to use, and click change.
NOTE: As mentioned in the help file, you must .exe to the music file types in the RR config utility. This is soon to be fixed, as Guino just released a beta that will allow the skin to determine the file types. Down go download it just yet though, it appears to have messed up something with the internal RR clock. With the Beta the time looks like "9:10Am?R0A1?"
He will probably fix this very soon.

Will give it a shot in a few hours.

I did go there, clicked on DigitalFX settings and choose the logos directory but the directory is empty on the skin (I went to that directory using explorer and the files are there)??!?!?

Unless I set this (which I don't recall doing so) or it's a default in RR, I didn't touch anything and as soon as I loaded the skin, bam my mp3' were playing; if it ain't broke, don't touch it..

XM then music in "scan mode" : Anyone else seen this? I have not been able to pinpoint the exact way to make this happen but it has happened to me a few times now: when switching from XM back to Music (local that is) sometimes my local music ends up in scan mode. What I mean by scan mode is that function in XM where it plays a station for a few secs then moves to the next.. it does this for my MP3's.... I never use the SCAN function in XM when this happens BTW. Also I am running the BM version from a few posts ago.
Script issues: I had none btw on my XP Pro system. This may be a stupid answer, but I did have a problem the first time when using XP I tried to run the VBS straight from the Zip file versus actually extracting the files then running it. Since Xp integrates Zip folders.. it is possible some people are doing this as I did? Just a thought.
Finally New to XM: What are the buttons for on the left of the skin? I get the up/down channel. The favorits and the +/- with a page on them don't seem to do anything useful for me. I checked the help file, no details there. Can anyone who has used them tell me what the heck they are for? Maybe I am just not using them properly. thx.

Yes, it happens to me as well. If I go into scan mode in XM and go back to music before turning XM scan off (the scan button is a toggle) the music will also be in scan mode. It's then necessary to go back into XM and turn off scan to stop the music from scanning. I reported it to John a couple of weeks ago, but it may have fallen through the cracks due to all the other things he's got going. I never use scan in XM so it's not a big deal to me.

Bugs?
JohnWPB,
It turned out wonderful. The most versatile skin I have tried thus far.
I have noticed a few things that may be bugs, or problems on my end. I am not sure. All of these are using the BM scheme.
1 - The AM/FM button doesn't seem to do anything (HQCT)
2 - The Left Seek (or decrease channels) doesn't seem to do anything (HQCT)
3 - Importing routes bombs the program. When pushing import routes, it ends up back at the desktop with a black bar down the middle of the screen (MapPoint 2006)
4 - Saving a route doesn't seem to save anything (MapPoint 2006)
I realize I am probably one of three people using MapPoint, but...
All in all it is great and I will continue to use it!!

Absolutley bar none my favorite skin. Period. Thanks for putting all the time into it and adding another skin to the few already out there which show what a good interface should be.

anyone else having this issue?
mute your microphone in windows
change volume in digitalfx
go back to your sound and microphone is unmuted.
it's like rr/digital fx wants to unmute the mic whenever you change the volume in the skin.
my mic pics up the sub which makes it sound like there is a lot of bass. very annoying.

Ok, here are my findings:
Related to me not seeing the flash logos, I reinstalled Flash but even though I can't see the logos directory files via the skin, I double clicked on the logo via explorer and that got the logo I wanted to display.
D/L'ed "BM" skin as per your request John and I received the following error:

wow john, really nice work! Had this skin up and running in about half an hour. Perfect combination of design, layout and functionality. It looks like a lot of hard work went unto this skin and all of the extra features, but its very integrated and well built. My only suggestion is to make all your script files have relative paths instead of absolute paths. I never have a default RR install and it was a bit tricky to get all the functions working. If your scripts are located in the Digital_FX folder and reference say ../scriptfile.exe - instead of c:/program files/road runner/skin/Digital_FX/scriptfile.exe
This may or may not make sense but if its possible i think it would be easier to get your masterpiece up and running for the newbs.
Lastly is it possible to change the font color? I was thinking a green skin would be nice and match my interior lights but I think the dark brushed skin (what im using now) would look really hot with green lettering. Any chance this is do-able?.
Other than that, thank you for sharing your leading edge work. Excellent software.

John, I know I had made a donation on the Blue Devil thread, but I have enjoyed the DigitalFX series so much, I had to send you some more beer money. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
To everyone who enjoys this skin as well, I am sure we can only imagine how much time John devotes to this. IF you can donate, it would certainly be a nice way to show your appreciation, IMO. Even a few bucks counts!

Hey, I just wanted to thank you for the work you've put into this and make a few comments.
The skin is great. I'm using the brushed metal version and I love the the way it looks and the over all feel. Only trouble I've had with the install is the spectrum analyzer plug-in (doesn't actually start the analyzer, just uses the typical AVS displays over the album art), but I'm not overly concerned with that.
I do have one suggestion. On almost every screen the buttons are in a different place. It seems that since there's almost always a bar on the bottom that it would be ideal to have volume, play, next, prev, close/back always on the bottom bar. That way I wouldn't have to remember which screen I left it at and go hunting for the volume button or skip button. I can probably make this change myself, but I figured I'd mention it any way.
Thanks again, and keep up the great work!
