LOTS of questions!

I reported it to John a couple of weeks ago, but it may have fallen through the cracks due to all the other things he's got going. I never use scan in XM so it's not a big deal to me.
Wow, I have been out of the forums a few days, and the questions certainly back up
The XM scan bleeding over to MP3 is an internal RR thing the way it handles the scanning. There is not much I can do about it skin wise.

I have noticed a few things that may be bugs, or problems on my end. I am not sure. All of these are using the BM scheme.
1 - The AM/FM button doesn't seem to do anything (HQCT)
2 - The Left Seek (or decrease channels) doesn't seem to do anything (HQCT)
3 - Importing routes bombs the program. When pushing import routes, it ends up back at the desktop with a black bar down the middle of the screen (MapPoint 2006)
4 - Saving a route doesn't seem to save anything (MapPoint 2006)
I realize I am probably one of three people using MapPoint, but...
All in all it is great and I will continue to use it!!
All of the buttons on the Radio Skin are set according to the SkinCommands.txt file. They should be standard for any radio that Road Runner supports.
As for Map Point, I will have to dig the disks out here somewhere and install it and see what is going on, and get it fixed.

it's like rr/digital fx wants to unmute the mic whenever you change the volume in the skin.
my mic pics up the sub which makes it sound like there is a lot of bass. very annoying.
This is a windows issue. I have had it happen to me in the past using other programs besides Road Runner. Update to the latest sound card drivers. One way I have fixed it is to mute the mic, and reboot the system. Sounds crazy but somehow, for some systems, it helps Windows "remember where the setting should be.

It looks like a lot of hard work went unto this skin and all of the extra features, but its very integrated and well built. My only suggestion is to make all your script files have relative paths instead of absolute paths. I never have a default RR install and it was a bit tricky to get all the functions working. If your scripts are located in the Digital_FX folder and reference say ../scriptfile.exe - instead of c:/program files/road runner/skin/Digital_FX/scriptfile.exe
This may or may not make sense but if its possible i think it would be easier to get your masterpiece up and running for the newbs.
Lastly is it possible to change the font color? I was thinking a green skin would be nice and match my interior lights but I think the dark brushed skin (what im using now) would look really hot with green lettering. Any chance this is do-able?.
Other than that, thank you for sharing your leading edge work. Excellent software.
I am in the process of changing all of the scripts to have relevant paths, and anything Internal to Road runner will use it's $RRPATH$ and $SKINPATH$ variables.
As for changing the font color, you can actually load the .skin files into notepad and do that. The RR text that is, not the buttons and such. I decided to go with white text on the buttons and such, as it works with any of the colors released.

Any help appreciated.
Also any chance of supporting MapMonkey?
Thanks:
I skinned FreeDrive quite some time ago for the Blue Devil skin. It will not be a perfect match, but will be close tot he DigitalFX Blue. You can Download the freedrive skin HERE

The skin is great. I'm using the brushed metal version and I love the the way it looks and the over all feel. Only trouble I've had with the install is the spectrum analyzer plug-in (doesn't actually start the analyzer, just uses the typical AVS displays over the album art), but I'm not overly concerned with that.
I do have one suggestion. On almost every screen the buttons are in a different place. It seems that since there's almost always a bar on the bottom that it would be ideal to have volume, play, next, prev, close/back always on the bottom bar. That way I wouldn't have to remember which screen I left it at and go hunting for the volume button or skip button. I can probably make this change myself, but I figured I'd mention it any way.
Thanks again, and keep up the great work!
Thanks for the comments! There is a detailed section in the help file that explains how to set up the spectrum analyzer. It is not the easiest thing to get working for sure, but is worth it when it does
As for the button locations, 90% of the mars on the bottom are the same on all screens. I have done my best to keep the buttons in the same place, but on some screens it is just not feasible. For instance on the weather screen, other buttons are needed, Same with the Satellite Radio skins, there is no need for a next and previous track buttons.

Damn! You guys are getting to know me too well!
well....
- The Ratings plugin is working perfectly now, thanks to Sonix fixing a couple bugs he found in the scripts.
- File copy utility to browse to any location and copy and paste files to any other location (Great for copying music from a thumb drive, USB HD ect to the Car PC)
- A Full Screen iGuidance screen with a translucent button in the top right to back to the standard view
- Just finished writing a small script that Ping's Google, so the Online indicator will update every 20 seconds, but ONLY when a REAL Internet connection has been discovered.
- New cleaner look to the Blue version. The buttons just looked kind of "cartoonie" to me, so I redid ALL the images on the Blue skin.
- in the works is a voice memo recorder by pressing a button on the screen to start recording, and once again to stop recording.
- Skinned a "Scribble Pad" app to match the DigitalFX skin.
- Fixed the MapPoint skin that was not working correctly (Forgot to skin one of the screens... Hell MP has like 8 different skins and 24 images!)
that about it... hopefully will get it out for release in the next day or so

Outstanding as usual. Looking forward to the next release.
FYI - The "BM" install on post #233 worked flawlessly. Hopefully, this could be incorporated onto the other colors..

John, can't thank you enough for all your work. Digital FX is sweet!
Now of course the obligatory question. I can't seem to find where i can have the gamma control automagically reduce screen brightness based on the time. I know i saw this before (pretty sure it was in Blue Devil). Any ideas?

Glad to hear it civic, thats a relief!
Setting Auto Gamma is done through the RR.ini and the RR Config utility. Currently this skin only has manual buttons to press to adjust this.

I think I know why some guys are getting the error in the installer, you HAVE to extract the contents from the compressed folder into an uncompressed folder before trying to install this... otherwise you get the file not found msg.
if this has already been mentioned I'm sorry, but I just tried this on a new machine & found this out, once extracted installed good.... you do have to click an ok dialog quite a few times, but it goes quickly...

PLEASE let me know if this is the case! I know I install a lot of programs through WinZip myself. Most of the time this works well. There are occasions that WinZip reports an error to a "File Not Found". When this happens I simply close it, extract the archive to a folder and try again, and then it works.
PLEASE let me know if this is where the problem is originating from, as I have been going crazy here trying to determine the problem.
I hope I am making sense here It is my birthday, (Well on the 24th at least) and have had a very long day, and must admit, a LOT of drink as well (Thats what friends are for...... right? )
For any of the rest of you with January birthdays, you probably know this already: (Or at least have friends going through this)
Wow, this is almost as bad as a Digg.com "top list" but here we go........
The top 5 reasons to not expect anything for your January birthday are:
5) its the beginning of a new year, and I made a vow to put more money into savings
4) I made a vow to quit smoking and the cost of the classes are killing me!
3) I made a vow to lose weight and the cost of the classes and the mandatory food cost is killing me!
2) we are such good friends, that you never need to expect a gift from me!
1) Christmas was a month ago, and I combined your Christmas and Birthday gifts together.
Hehehehe I need to stop rambling, get some sleep, and continue working to make this skin better!

Dude! I had no idea other people would be up at this hour!
I forgot to mention a thread using "Teamspeak". I have never been one for chat, or voice chat on the net. I followed a link the other night in this thread and was impressed! Liquid Smoke, and about 4 other people were in there TALKING. We were bring up ideas of additions to skins, improvements to Road Runner and a lot of other stuff. If any of you guys want to suggest someting about this skin, Road Runner, or just want to talk, PLEASE drop by! we were cutting up jokes and just having a good time over the past couple of days with this. This is a VERY small program/client you can download HERE (Link at the bottom of the page) Drop in and join in on the conversation!
If you are not aquantied with Teamspeak, it is a voice chat client that ALL of us on the forums can drop in and VERBALLY talk about skins, as questions, discuss problems with skin features and ask for future improvements or enhancements. I have made a point to leave it running in the system tray on my system. If anyone drops by, and I do not answer, I simply am not at the PC. (Thats maybe 10% of the time ) BUT this dosent mean that others are not in the room and ready to talk.
So find that desktop mic or headset that you already have, and stop by!
After you Install TeamSpeak, simply Click on this link to join in. teamspeak://66.221.110.68:8767 Its that simple!
Once you have the client installed on your PC the above link will take you directly to the CarPC VOICE chat. (If you want just save the above link as a desktop shortcut if you want) Using a Yahoo! widget here, I have found that this program uses LESS than 5k of bandwith, has no adware, ad's, or any other types of spam to use, You do not even need to provide an email address to use it!
Sorry if I seem looks like I am promoting this, but it is just simply a good way to comunicate and ask questions and get answers LIVE for anything CarPC related. It is far better than a post that may take me a couple days to respond to, or a PM, where you sit and wait for an answer. I am sure it may take a bit of time to become popular, but I have a feeling that it will......... and then some.

OK, you got me I have been dealing with my strange sleep pattern since I was like 7! I personally do not have a problem with it, but I have gotten a lot of flack from my parents, friends, siblings ect over the years. Oh well..... bottom line....... I'm just me, so deal with it!
On the other hand, I guess I could go back to a "normal" routine, and just not work on or update the skin that often and such...... that is a good possibility actually. Let me know what you guys think.
