There's been a lot of discussion of this and I'm not sure the cause has ever been determined. I had the problem also and was pulling my hair (what's left of it anyway) out trying to figure it out. Finally, I did something - I have no idea what - and it has worked ever since. Best as I could tell, there was some sort of conflict between how Blue's RRConfig and the DFX skin were handling this. I can't remember for sure, but it seems to me that Blue may have recently updated his RRConfig program to address this somehow. Maybe Blue will chime in or you can review the last couple of pages of his RRConfig thread for some insight.

The master JohnWPB don't agree but i also believe the above is true - you have to chose which either RRConfig or DFX you want to handle that function. I chose RRConfig and disabled DFX's (in ExcTBL) and all work fine. There are a few tweaks you got to do to IG's volume, the wav volume and the main volume but in the end it work fine. There is a thread about that but i don't remember where.

See this is what happens when John makes us wait :P
On another note I got myself one of those Silabs USB Radio things it should be at my door when I get home tonight. Is there anything special I need to do to get this thing hooked in to RR/DFX?

It should work fine once you set radiomode=7 in rr.ini. You're probably gonna want to solder in an antenna adapter to get acceptable reception.

HELP w/GPS Status Screen
I switched over to using the DFX 2.0 skin and I'm loving it. It has alot of options/features that I can use (adding more pieces in my setup). However, I am having an issue or don't know how to make this feature work.
*GPS Status screen. This uses Flash Gauges (included) to display gauges for speedometer, compass & Satellites Acquired. lots of other info also from RR Labels
I can't get the Speedometer, Compass, SATs, Longitude, Latitude or Altitude to work. I am using iG3 and the information is there. Also, I am using GPSGate as my virtual port.
So, how do I get this part to work? I don't know what to do....
Thanks for your help and GREAT SKIN!

navputer, try this

1. Download Xport3 (previous post).
2. Open iGuidance outside of RR. Go to Tools/GPS Options/Autodetect. This will tell you what port your GPS Receiver is using.
3. Load Xport3. Go to the input section and choose the com port determined in 2 above. Then go to the output section. In the first output block choose any available com port from the list. Remember the number because it will be the com port setting that you use in iGuidance. In the second output block pick any other available com port. Remember the number because this will be the GPS setting that you choose in RRConfig. Click the enable service box. Leave Xport running (you should include Xport.exe in your startup folder so it always loads upon startup).
4. Open iGuidance outside of RR. Go to tools/GPS options/Com Port. Designate the com port number that you chose in the first output box of Xport. Exit iGuidance.
5. Open RRConfig. Hit the GPS tab and in the box labeled "GPS Port" type in the number of the com port that you chose in the second output box of Xport. Save and exit RRConfig.
In a typical scenario you should now be able to run iGuidance and the speedo in any RR skin. I have found Xport to be finicky at times so you may have to open Xport and just make sure it is shown as enabled and everything seems to be working. If Xport is receiving the information from your GPS receiver the NMEA data will be shown scrolling at the bottom.

GPSGate uses the same type setup and I have a setting in iG3 with a com port and the main one in RRconfig. I use 3 different GPS software with different com ports but a main one in rrconfig.
In IG3, I see the GPS data with Sats, speed, etc. but in the skin, I don't see it carrying over. Is there a place in the skin I need to set something?
Thanks for your help

When you say 'main one in rrconfig' do you mean the 'real' com port if so that is not the right approch you want to use the tool xport or whatever it may be to spilt the 'real' port and use the virtual ports in your applications for example if the GPS is on COM PORT3 use xport3 to split to COM PORT 4, COM PORT 5, COM PORT 6. in iGuidance use COM4 in RRconfig use COM5 etc.. never actually use COM3.
Also a side note from my understanding you are better of using VIRTUAL COM PORTS < 10 in iGuidance as it does not save the COM port information if it is greater.. I could be wrong but I think that is the case.
If I misunderstood your post then ignore everything I just spent 5mins typing.

set up a virtual port in gpsgate (same as you did with ig3 and your other software), then use that port number in rrconfig.
