I tried it manually, following every instruction to a T, and when you load road runner its fine, when you go to skin and try to load the skin you get an unexpected error and RR closes????

Sorry, I am just not understanding what you are saying. You say that RR loads fine. but when you try to go to skin RR closes? RR will not load unless there is a skin in place. Open RR config, and make sure that you have set the path to the skin correctly. I am not sure what else that it can be.

As for the installer errors and such, please bare with me just a little bit longer. I am not going to "repair" the installer script just now. I am about half way through converting all the skins over, and plan to do a major revamp of the installer, as there will just be one single skin, and one single installer script to deal with. I hope to have it done and ready in a week or so, so its not that much longer down the road.

DigitalFX 2.0 Coming soon!

Ok, I had today off, and this was driving me nuts to get it done! I spent the past 14 hours working on converting the skin! (Started after diner last night around 6:00PM or so, and finished around 8:30 this morning) I left the computer to go to the lou a couple times, and to get something to drink, but that was it. I have been wanting the transparencies for so long, and just wanted to see it all come together.

All 80 of the skins have been converted, and saved out as PNG files, VS the old Jpg's. In the process I found a way with the layering, to use just 2 images now for each skin instead of 3. The way the layers are done now, there is the standard OFF image, a mouse over(on) image, and a combination of the 2 layers when pressed to make a DOWN image. This gives a bit of visual feedback that something was pressed. As a side effect of the mouse over(ON) image, the ability to use a wheel, or arrow keys to navigate the skin is now possible for those not using touch screens.

In the process, I found a few other items I want to fix:

1) Weather icons made transparent and Hi-Res so they will work with any color Background (Done!)

2) Update the GPS gas icons to PNG files that are much higher resolution and cleaner looking

3) After the release, updating the XM art to PNG's and making them Hi-Resolution as well.

4) Make the image icons (Like on the settings skin) more transparent, to take on the color of the BG of this skin, and not the blue that they are now as a remnant of the DigitalFX Blue original skin.

I also created a new skin, (Button linking to it is found in the "Skin Settings" screen). This new skin will allow you to browse the background color's and images, and get this, heheheheh see a LIVE preview of what the skin will look like in that color! It does this by showing the BG image, and over the top of it, a transparent image of the main menu. You can dump any image into the "Background" folder, and it will become available to use as a background for the skin.

Here is a preview of whats to come!

If I dare say, I believe this is the first skin that will completely change colors simply by picking it from a menu. Even the flash skins out there just change the colors of the background area's, and not all of the buttons and all text area's throughout the entire skin.: dance:

Once all completed, I have a few things I want to add to the skin, that some of you have asked for, such as RRMobile, Traffic, and a few other things.

Stay Tuned!

Great work so far! I can't wait for the final result. BTW, what are the colors that will be available? I only ask because I didn't see Black and/or Brushed Metal in the screen shoot, which are the two colors I am interested in using.

Brushed metal and black are packaged with the skin (Alphabetical ordered list, so they are off the top of the list in the screen capture).

But, keep in mind, you can use ANY color or texture. If you have a perfect shade of green in mind, open up something as simple as MSPaint, make a 800 x 600 canvas, and paint it that perfect shade of green. Save it to the Background folder, and it is immediately available.

The same goes for any texture, Wallpaper, or whatever you can think of! You can dump your family photo album into the Background folder if you wish, and use any any picture you want. Guino coded the ability to take any size image, and resize it to the background on the fly. So you can use a 1920 x 1080 resolution photo if you so wish to do so

If I run the installer script it shows the VB runtime error.

So I tried installing it all manually as per your instructions in the info file.

When I run rrconfig or rr itself, and try to change the skin, the small window opens in white in the top corner of the screen briefly then road runner shuts down

Hope that makes more sense!

btw he skin looks bloody awesome!

Will there be an browser added to 2.0 that will allow browsing by album art or have I just been missing that skin?

I would really like one.

thanks
Cliff

Im really not sure whats going on with the problems you are describing. If you can hold out for a few days, I will hopefully have the new skin packaged up with the new installer and all.

Yea, you missed that skin........ and so did I I started working on that some time ago, and got side tracked. Not sure if it will make it into 2.0 or not, but its definitely on the "to do list".

A couple of other features that will be in the next release are:

1) The top right button on the weather screen, will no longer be "programmable". It will be the button to access the weather at your current location, and will be labeled automatically based on what city that you are in. MANY Thanks to SonixExtacy02 for adding the code to RR to allow this!

2) The Radar & Satellite images in the weather skins, will now both be animated. I have wanted this for a while and finally got it working. When I look at a radar image, it dosen't do me much good if I can't see where the rain is coming from, and where it is going on a static image.

3) Hi-Res, transparent weather icons.

Here is a screen capture of numbers 1 & 3:

And Here is an example of the Animated Weather maps: (The map is a LIVE view)
To see the below image correctly, you will need to change your Forum Preferences since the forums updated, and started the "Click to see full size image" crap. To fix it so you never see that again, go to the top of the forum, click on UserCP, and choose OPTIONS from the pulldown. About half way down the page you will see a section "Images in posts", use the pulldown menu, and select "Keep Original Size". Scroll to the bottom of the page, and SAVE OPTIONS.

John -

Is there any way to to load 2-4 weather locations at on time. So that when you don't have a internet connection . You can still see all the weather ( 2-4 ) locations.

I drive a lot. in one 2-3 hours, I can drive through 4 states. I would like to know if I can see the weather in the other preset locations I have. with out a internet connection.

Right now I can only see one location without internet connection.

thanks for the great skin. I know you put a lot of time and hard work in to it.

Thanks.

Ditto that for me - as much as this skin has become a part of my day I'd say it's worth as much as the roadrunner base itself...

Any chance it could also read from imageviewer' predefined folder?

Bravo on the new features, you never cease to amaze me.
