black bar
I am having the same problem as Ramanator in post http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/1048524-post788.html
It works fine on my desktop machine - which is why I brought my carpc in.
The rr.ini has been updated and only has one entry for fastmode=-1
I tried both the 2.0 and the 2.1 from a couple of hours ago.
Ideas?

7 Seconds between screens??! Something is really wrong somewhere. Try using the Digital Clock and Digital time settings, as I think that Flash may possibly not be working right on your system.
John, I already use the digital clock with the compass at the bottom. I did the flash forced downgrade using the flash8.ocx file. I'm not sure why it was taking so long when I added the coding from the original Digital FX Skin.

Wow! What is the deal! I put the mirror up hoping that BOTH of the sites wouldn't go down at the same time.... I don't get it.
When you say the main site is down, you mean JohnWPB.com, or the download links? I just checked and my site is up, and both DL links are working....

Something to try for those having problems grtting this wonderful skin 'up and running'

Wow, I have not see that happen here, so it is really hard to troubleshoot. Make sure you have the fastmode=-1 in the rr.ini file. Also make sure that you are using the latest Road Runner.exe from This Link

You mentioned you are using the compass at the bottom, the compass is a flash applet.
Try this:
With RR running, with the time and the digital compass, press CTRL-ALT-Del and see what your CPU usage is. If it is really high then:
Try using the Digital Clock & Date (No flash is used then) , go back to the main menu and see if you have just the time at the top, a static logo in the center, and the date at the bottom, if so restart RR. Restart RR and see if things work more smoothly. Now look at the CPU usage, if it is lower, and the skin seems to be working better, it is definitely a flash problem in that case.

Hmmm I have been checking it over the past 10 minutes after your post and it is coming up fine here, even clearing the cache, and then even in Internet Explorer (Yuck!).
Is anyone else not seeing the JohnWPB.com site coming up? It must be working, as I can sit there and hit refresh, and see the numbers changing meaning someone is on the site clicking the download links. I would check and see if you have some sort of firewall, or something else preventing the site from loading for you.
EDIT: I just checked the server logs, and see no outages or lapses in times between page views. It has to be some strange thing between your computer through your ISP to the site or something.
Here is the direct link to the file on CarPCNet.com

Do you have this line in RR.ini ?
picspath=C:\Program Files\Road Runner\skins\DigitalFX 2.0\Backgrounds
I can cause it to do the same screen if :
1. no , " picspath=C:\Program Files\Road Runner\skins\DigitalFX 2.0\Backgrounds "
2. no , Fastmode=-1
3. no, rr.ini
I'll see if I can delete some other stuff to cause it.

I noticed when I downloaded the 2.1 that the file name is still named "DigitalFX2.0 Installer." Is this correct?
Thanks,
Jarred

I was able to get to the site without any issues, whatsoever.
John, I just went out and looked at it, I was wrong. Since upgrading to 2.0, I was using the time at the top, mustang logo in center, and date at the bottom. I just installed the newly updated 2.1, but when I load RoadRunner, it's at 100% Usage and I can't do anything. The logo is like a moving moon. For the moment I went back to DigitalFx 1 until I can figure out what is going on with 2.1 or just reinstall 2.0. Digital FX V.1 is so much quicker than 2.0, but I have the lack of color schemes. Hopefully I'll figure something out to accomodate a little of each.
