Hey John!

Awesome changes - I just downloaded the latest version and the new help file. Did you hide the psd's somewhere? I looked on the first page and in the help file and you didn't mention them.

John, one thing I noticed on the BlueDevil skin and now on the digital series, is that when you go to the "music" function, you are taken straight to the browser. Is this done for a reason? Personaly, I would rather go straight to the "player" skin instead of having to hit the button at the bottom of the browser skin to get there. Once my play;ist is loaded, I generaly don't need the browser skin unless I want to change. Maybe it's just me.

i had a profound idea. Is there a way we can implement an easy way to switch navigation software via skin? So if we are using IG3 and wanted to use mappoint for the poi's we could just switch it in the skin.

Just a thought.

Speed Fan Configuration

Boy, setting up the Speedfan configuration is a little tricky. One suggestion that I would make, John, is that you indicate in speedfan.skin which line is for which setting. I had to go through the X/Y coordinates to figure out what buttons I needed to reset.

I also have a couple of questions:

1. The diagnostic screen is showing that I have total memory of 479, that 144 is free and that 62% is remaining. That doesn't seem right since 144/479 = 30% remaining. Am I missing something?

2. Speedfan shows me five different temps, temp1, temp2, temp3, temp4 and HD1. Obviously, I know that HD1 is the temp of the harddrive, but how do I figure out what the others are for? Is it safe to assume that the highest one is the chip temp?

This is kinda a personal preference really. I am open to suggestions on what people think though.

If you go into the RRConfiguration program, you can choose GPS "Menu". This will pop up an on screen menu to choose from the GPS program that you want to use. You can have 4 GPS programs (or more) installed and have access to all of them. You will just have to edit the button codes on the "GPS_Menu.skin" file.

I agree 100% that it is definitely hard to set up, no doubt about it. Unfortunately there is no way to put comments in the skin file right now, as the editor removes them when the skin is saved.

To get my temperatures, I had to run drefrag on my Hard Drives, to watch the temp go up a little bit to know what HD was what

As the the other temperatures, the highest one is usually the CPU, and the next highhest is usually the case temperature. It will vary from system to system, but this is a good rule of thumb.

I wish I could make the set up of this easier, but there really is no way that I know of right now. The bright side is, once it is done, you don't have to do it again on that computer.

I don't know if this messes you up or not, but since you can't make comments in the speedfan.skin file, maybe you can rearrange the code lines so it's easier to tell what line goes to what button. For example, maybe left to right, top to bottom as follows:

Line 1: CPU Temp
Line 2: CPU Fan
Line 3: CPU Load
Line 4: Case Temp
Line 5: HD1 Temp
Line 6: HD2 Temp

and so on. A big part of the effort for me was trying to figure out which lines went to which buttons so I could change the appropriate codes.

Also, do you have any thoughts on my first question in post 128?

Math is 3x your normal rate, right?

Also, you're exactly right that the diagnostics are really neat once set up. Nice work on the skin!

I didn't like it that way either, so I edited the music button in the menu skin file to go directly to the player.

I will probably do the same, but figured I would mention it incase John wanted to consider changing it for future releases.

Audio Player Screen Issues

The problem with manually changing the name of the skin to load is the "Audio" commands is an internal command used to load music, and the default "Audio_Player.skin". Changing the button to call a different skin, and not using the "Audio" command circumvents certain Road runner check sums.

For instance, if you are listening to Satellite radio, and return to the main menu, the playback continues. This allows you to go to GPS, the calculator ect, and still listen to the Satellite radio. Pressing the button with the "Audio" command, tells Road Runner you are going to go into MP3's, and to stop the satellite radio playback. Loading another skin manually with the button on the first menu, "Load;Audio_Full_Player.skin" will allow BOTH audio sources to be playing at the same time, as RR doesn't "know" that you are going to another audio screen.

To set it up properly the skins them selves need to be renamed, and then changing all 4 (including the Audio GPS screen) of the buttons on the bottom of the audio screens to call the correct skins when pressed.

Ah, forget that! I will leave it alone for now and hope you get enough demand to change it.

Also, and this is probably a problem outside of your skin, but I have had an issue with XM. If I am listening to MP3 when I shut car off (standby), when it resumes, I can hear the XM over the MP3 and need to go into the XM skin and then go back to the MP3 to stop the XM sound. If I am listening to XM when I shut down, there is no MP3 when I resume.

I researched it some, and I have my mic setting muted on the volume control before I start RR. I also have the mic in set as the line to mute in RR config. Any suggestions?
