cmdRR - Tall Skin

Alrighty, well I've been working on this for quite some time, and just recently I've had some time to sit down and really get to work on the look and function of it all.
I'm using this in my Hyundai Elantra with a 12" screen in portrait mode.

Currently hooked up and working:
OBD*, GPS, Audio, Phone*
*still working out bugs

Not all screens are complete, but I've got the major ones at least functioning.
Here's a screen shot I took from my work computer, so no data is being pulled from the OBD

Plugins that are being used:
OBDMPG
Mobilephone.net
soon RRVM

I've been designing this for my use, so I'm sure there are better ways of doing things and making them easier for the future, but it seems to be working for me so far.
Once I get the look of this one about right, I'll be duplicating it and changing colours so it matches my blue gauges at night.

Input welcomed.

Update:

BETA RELEASE!!

Here's a link to download it and give it a try.... for all (1) of you tall screen users
http://ssarge.net/cmdRR.zip

When I update some more I'll update that file and post an update to my changes.

To fix:
audio player
audio browser
mixer

To tweak more:
gps (reg and full)
mobilephone
mobilecall

To create my own:
exit menu
dimmer
jump to

To create:
audio playlist
launch
others...TBD

**Thanks to those that created other skins that I've 'borrowed' from... some more evident than others.
I will be creating most everything myself in time... just will take time, as I'm working on priorities.
*if you are reading this and don't like me including a portion of your skin let me know and I'll adjust that.

Not sure what to say really. But lets begin.

Good to see a tall skin, as you said not many around.

It looks very simple, which can be good, however to me it looks like you have squashed a normal skin into the top third and let the OBD stuff take over the other 66% (mixing my numbers to make sure people are reading carefully)

Be interesting to see some other screens, Navigation for example.

Also just had a sneak look at your install thread, that's a big screen.

yea, I've made the top section pretty standard on all screens... I mean 12" is alot of space to fill... and may have the top section a little busy, with the audio info I enclosed up there.

I did some reorganizing and removed some things I had on that screen and think it's pretty damn bare... might just have to put a picture browser or something there with pron haha
I'll take more pics tonight.

The GPS is basically the entire bottom with the exception of buttons down the left side. for quick access to favourite locations and stuff... I'm using iGuidance.

Not too fond of the icons on the buttom but everything else looks good. I would take the time to do on/off graphics for the shuffle and repeat buttons so when you touch the button, it changes color inside the button; that would preclude having the indicators show-up somewhere else.

That looks very appealing! I never considered using anything but 50/50 on the sizing for the separate sections. I think I'll play with the 33/66 on my skins this weekend. Can't wait to test it in my cars! Don't forget to include an optional full screen for Nav (I've found it to be invaluable when navigating in an unfamiliar city.)

consider that done... and made the clock/date larger and removed the CPU %

I've got one section on the top that needs to be filled with something, or I'll just redo the top buttons to make them a little larger.. guess that's one idea.
As far as the top being cluttered up... yea likely, but since this is replacing my stereo I'm keeping the audio controls for most screens (except for background and pluginmgr ones). I'm slowly putting my 'styling' into everything, so those logos will be gone and I'll see about even adjusting the flash gauges on the bottom.

Here are some more pictures for your viewing pleasure... yes I know the audio player one is messed up and not finished. Any other ideas keep em coming!

I don't know if full screen GPS would change much... it's pretty freakin huge!

Also I don't know why, but on my test machine the GPS isn't fully embedding nicely, it's leaving like half a toolbar across the top... Though it is truly embedded with iG Native mode on.

I'm back at it... well never really stopped.

Running into a slight bump. Trying to get an indicator showing up on any screen that's relating to the mobilephone.net plugin.
The indicator works well on the mobilephone.net screen, but not on any other screen. Do I need to work with some variables or am I missing something more simple?
It's not just with the phone. I moved the obdmpg reset buttons to a tools screen and they're no longer working.

okay, scratch the indicator issue... it helps if the other screen on images have something to indicate

any ideas about the button though?

Should I share what I've got created so far to be ripped apart?

I like the idea of the tall screen... for a larger screen like you have it works great!

Nice gauges BTW

Umm... yea.. Thanks!!
Was gonna ask you once I get other things sorted out if I could possibly get the flash files to do a colour change on them. Or I might actually have a stab at my own gauge to match the car more.
Those icons being used may look familiar too I don't claim to have designed it all... just putting it together.
