Skin.ini has my background path when you first unzip the skin.

You must select a new background and apply it (which will write your background directory path in skin.ini) or just go into skin.ini and type in a legit path.

Example of what skin.ini should contain if you have a default RR install:

background=c:/program files/road runner/skins/shock v3.0/background/53.jpeg

Important, You most likely need to reboot your machine after installing for all changes to take effect.

Maybe you guys can post some screen caps of the skin running your backgrounds.

I know you essentially said "mod at your own risk," but using the following skin code for the radio_player.skin moves the buttons around a little and adds the radioart.

What is the radio art? Never used it before, might have to try that code out. Thats the "J" line if im not mistaken.

Another thing I am wondering about RR skins is if they are faster with no comments in the .skin files. I have never put comments in the .skin files but I notice many people do. Im wondering it having comments slows the skin down at all?? Seem to me if the files are larger with more lines (ever if rr.exe just skips over them) it will take longer to read the skin file thus slowing down operation of the skin. May only be 1 second but hey when your running a viam10000 every second counts

Right! Radio Art is alot like album art but the .gifs go in your "C:\Program Files\Road Runner\RadioArt" directory. (I go to my local radio stations websites and copy their stationID banners). Then whenever you switch to that frequency its banner is displayed. The gifs have to be named for the frequencies, i.e., 106.5 FM would have a gif named 10650.gif.

Interesting, I like this idea, RDS info works good in my area so it just spits out my station call letters but having the banner is nice.

Lets see your screencap GizmoQ

Playing with the new browse by album cover slider code. Just so you know this menu is not included in the download, I'm testing right now and it looks to be pretty resource heavy since its flash based, and all shock skin releases are 100% flash free. It does not hurt to try it out though.

I think RR is probably the best, most flexible frontend ever. I mean you can just keep 'building' your frontend everyday. If I want a new feature its just a matter of adding it in. Long live Open Source software!

I'm having the same problem as 4dtoys?

I've copied the fonts, edited the .ini files (both in the Roadrunner folder, and the one contained in the skin folder) to fastmode=-1, and changed the skin.ini to reflect the background path (I use F: instead of C

Still no luck?

..and you know without a doubt you are running the latest version of RR?
Some have reported that while having the new version in the RR folder, their shortcut still pointed to the old version or "hooked" another RR.exe stored elsewhere on the computer; other than that, make sure the DLL is registered correctly.

That's neat. Does it have any functionality other than showing album art?
Guess i need to go read the other thread!
Will you include this in a patch or the next release?

"Long live Open Source software!" - Amen!

grahm read the read_me very carefully!

This goes to the other having problems also. Put your .jpeg background in the folder 'background' found inside the skin directory. Using the background selector menu then scroll to your background and Hit apply. This will write the new line to skin.ini and you will be in business. The background menu list code looks like this:

Code:
$skinpath$\background\*.jpg

So this looks for all files named .jpg, in the current skin (defined in rr.ini which is shock v3.0) and then the background directory regardless of what drive you have it set up on.

After you can see your wallpapers in the background browser, hitting 'apply' is what starts the scripts to write the path to skin.ini and process the actual background change.

So those trying to trouble shoot, get your background choices in the background directory list first. Hit 'apply' from the menu and everything will be taken care of for you, by the scripts, and you will have the new background.

The skin really is coded to read from the 'background' directory inside the skin folder, I should have mentioned this as just modifying the skin.ini may not yeild results you want as I have not tested any other paths to the backgrounds besides the one specified in the code.

I know a pic is worth a thousand words so:
