I was playing around with the idea of 'hAv1c' since I'm using those skins as code donors.
(h=hacked, Av1c=1337 for Avic)

ok, the font webdings has a bunch of the symbols we need to do this. Here's a sample of the main screen with labels only:
it will work!

I do believe I am going to make a transparent skin with a empty .png file for all menus and just have different labels for all menus. Talk about optimized, it would be so small!

i think the audio player list needs some space befofe and after it, just to avoid the text to "touch" the buttons
something like 5 pixels will do the job

Thanks will for the suggestion, applied that to the skin and you were right, it looks way better not touching the edge.
Update:
slowly getting things plugged into the skin. added main menu skin, audio player, and browser. Beta release coming soon.

Fine basic work. Are there any chances to put a speedometer/compass on the main screen? Sometimes a nav program is overkill when going/coming from work because we know the route already, but want a way to readily visualize the current speed, which is way more accurate than the car's speedometer. Also, such data could be used to keep track of oil changes, tire rotation etc. Just imagine the posibilities. If you don't want to code all that, just take the MILAGE plugin and integrate it.
Keep up the good work!

i guess you could replace the album art with that if you wanted to. I won't probably have that in the beta release though. I guess someone could just open the skin in rrskineditor and add that if they wanted to.
Basic = uncomplicated, easy to read/use, and low memory use.

A small update; I designed the gps skin, which can be translated into any of the other skins that need more area; launch, video player, etc.
When this is all said and done, there will be very few images in the skin:
Main 1 (used for most screens)
Main Menu (common menu)
Exit Menu (only shows on exit)
Main 2 (used for screens that need more space for the app)
Mixer (I won't use this, but include it for those that do)
Weather (and weather detail)
OSK (I may be able to make this all labels, but it's not really necessary)
Wait (may just be a screen shot of the skin anyways)
For comparison, my avicz2 skin has over 60 skin images! Creating a skin like this creates a little more uniformity and ease of customization.

Update, added a few more screenshots, and beta release coming soon!
Still needed:
Weather Detail
Wbrowser
fix outlook not working
clean up folder (remove donor images)
maybe something else I'm missing...

I was wonderin if I can adapt your code (Change font color) to the DigitalFX Skin ? I just don't know where to begin.....but I understand how RR works and how to edit a skin.

Sorry that updates have been slow, my install project has been delayed a lot, and as such these projects have been set aside for now.
@VMTSquad - The code is released and you have the right to incorporate it in the skin if you want, although it would be a difficult task, you would have to change every text label color code to the new #FRed# #FGreen# #FBlue# etc codes, you have my "permission" to do with it what you want.

Not in DFX 2.x 'cause most of the fonts are graphics not labels.

Thanks treetop777, forgot that's how john made the skin...
The font changer code is available for anyone to use, and works with any label based skin. If you want to adapt the DFX skin, it would be difficult, because you would have to change the images to not have text, then add label codes, and it would really not be worth it. For label based skins, just change the label color codes appropriately, and implement my code.
