my first completed skin - Clean N Clear
hi all, i have just finished my first skin. my intention was to keep it clean, have transparency, be able to do the main things i do,and be easy to use. i think i have accomplished all of these, so i am going to release the skin (and psd's so you can add/change as you please)
here's the link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?d3ljdm0cxnn
here are some screenshots:
menu:
audio player:
audio browser:
video player:
video browser:
skin browser:
background changer:
gps (ig3):
mixer:
i wont be adding xm/sirius, phone, or radio, but if anyone wants to use the psd's and make the screens yourself, i'll be happy to update the skin and include them as long as they follow the general theme of the skin. looking forward to any comments/suggestions
david

Looks great!! I would love the PSD files to do an XM skin.
Is is "Equalizer" or "Equilizer"?

thanks, here's a link, the file has the skin, and in the skin folder are the psd's if you want to change anything.

just tested it
love the design
but here are some improvements/bugs
1 - the center logo REALLY needs some work (i know we can change it, but for a official release, a nice logo would be fine)
2 - no default background on skin start. it showed a little bit weird
3 - the background changer isn't intuitive (skins->color?!?! why not background??)
4 - (and the real problem here) It's missing a lot of mais buttons. u can't leave gps screen. nor the skin browser... the only way i've found was closing RR with the task manager than restarting it
the desing is cool, but lacks some flow control

1: which center logo do you think would go best? i am not entirely happy with this one either.
2: do you happen to know how to set the default? if so, i'd be glad to update.
3: honestly, i would have put background, but i was trying to keep the buttons in the same places for the most part, and background wouldn't fit without the text being tiny.
4: i forgot to mention in my first post that there is a hidden button in the upper left corner of all the screens that is the back/exit button, sorry for the confusion.

1 - maybe some photoshop on this one. but there's a post with lots of logos u can use
2 - one of the latest RR updates was a backgroundpath variable. maybe that's the way to go
3 - you can always use abreviations like BKGND
4 - nice! never opend the skin files itself. that's a nice idea, but u have a blank space in the same area. u can put a back button there (maybe just an arrow)

2: i have a line in the skin.ini that says background=E:\Road Runner\Skins\Clean N Clear\backgrounds\Black.jpg
this is where the background gets saved when it is changed, where does the backgroundpath variable go? in rr.ini?
4: i would put a back arrow there, but that kinda defeats the "hidden" part of a hidden button . i like to keep skins pretty clutter free, so i try to implement hidden buttons where i can, but if the general consensus is that it needs a non hidden button then one will be made.
any input appreciated
david

A logo/clock like DFX's would fit right in there IMO

well, since i have begun modifying the skin to include back buttons, i figured i would add another feature. i have begun making a screen for the coverflow browser, it's a work in progress and i have yet to try it on my carpc, but i don't expect it to have any problems
here's a screenshot:
