Shock Skin v4 Transparent Released

I'm proud to announce that Shock Skin v4 has been released. Following the Shock Skin roots this version is faster and smaller than its predecessor, yet has increased features and menus. I know it seems to good to be true but I am working in an embedded environment so new features are worthless to me if they bloat the software. Coders will be happy to know that the code base in v4 is extremely tidy and well organized making changes a snap. The complete change log, notes, and other useful information can be found in the _READ_ME_ as usual.

All users are asked to read the _READ_ME_.txt FULLY. Its not for my benefit, its for yours. Reading the entire document will save you time on the setup and get the skin up and working proper quickly.

This skin is an ongoing development. v3 can be found here

As all releases, Shock Skin v4 has been extensively tested on my Desktop and over 700 miles on my carPC and is rock solid and stable.

With that all being said here is the link to the latest code. Try it out, let me know how it works for you and most important, have fun with it!

DOWNLOAD Shock Skin v4 - 6.7Mb download.

Nice one!

Will test after work today - now I just need to get my damn carputer running!

EDIT: Now home and testing, and run into a few problems I hope you can help me with. They are:

1. The playlist directory doesn't show my 10 odd winamp playlists - these were ok in V3. I have changed the playlist path in pls.skin as requested to E:\Playlists\ . I have also kept the quote marks as requested.

2. Not entirely sure what the .M3u page does. I assume you can create new playlists with it? In which case..any chance of a quick guide on how to use it? All I end up doing is clearing my currenty playlist and getting stuck!

3. The winamp visual plug-in doesn't seem to work for me. Placed it in C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins , and switched plugins so in winamp prefs so it is the default. On starting RR, and selecting visual, nothing now happens? The standard plugin works for me, although I used to be able to rightclick it while in RR to change effects etc ...I can no longer do this - any idea why?

4. The mute "blinking bar" doesn't appear when I press "X" to mute. Any idea why?

Hopefully I've given you enough to go on - if you need further details please let me know!

Thanks again - this is getting better and better!

Can I also ask - can you "do" anything with the OSK, or will this come later?

The M3U menu is for saving loaded files in the audio_player to a xxx.m3u playlist in the path you specify in rr.ini as playlistpath. The reason to edit the pls.skin is for the directory browsing of the M3U files. This just lets the skin know where to look for displaying the contents. I would try creating a couple new playlists with the skin to get the feel for how it works before trying to load older ones or files generated with another skin. The audio_browser is a directory browser for all your files to load them in audio_player.

The osk works for the applications menu, web and M3U menu. Load a list and try saving it with M3U menu, it will launch the osk and prompt you to enter a filename for the playlist.

Upon first launch the analyzer wil often hide behind the EQ or another window of winamp. Move said window to reveal. You can statically configure it from there.

The blinking bar is on the bottom of the X button and is somewhat hard to see if you have a very dark background. It is present on every skin though.

Hope this helps C4DAO, I know you got shock v3 running good so this should be a piece of cake for you

This is one skin I never got working on my pc when it was up and running (didn't have time to mess with it..) Maybe I'll try again w/Version 4. It looks like a pretty slick skin. How well does it run on the m10k? Anyone?

If you change the SD line in pls.skin from:
Code:
SD,Left;Left,"01",30,30,"d:\playlist" .

to:
Code:
SD,Left;Left,"01",30,30,"$playlistpath$" .

The directory will be pointed to what is defined in rr.ini. No more users hand-editting the skin.

It is designed for and ran on a M10000. That is my carPC mobo.

Thank you sal! Very helpful tip, I will most likely change this and update the download archive.

Love that background Area3.
