Nissan CARWINGS skin : In Developement
Currently working on a more OEM styled interface for the Nissan/Infiniti owners out there as well as anyone else who likes it enough to use in their cars. At the end of development I'll include a separate dev-kit with the original PSD's for those who wish to expand upon this skin. I'm building it for some basic functionality now but intentionally left lots of room for expansion as there are a lot of people more capable than I out there, especially considering this is my first skin.
Menu structure: (As of now, possible changes as development progresses)
AUDIO (WinAMP?)
-CD
-MP3
-EQUALIZER (Full EQ)
VIDEO (WindowsMediaPlayerClassic?)
NAVIGATION
-GPS (iGuidance)
-FUEL (Plugin?)
-TRAFFIC (Plugin?)
-WEATHER (Plugin?)
TELEPHONE (FreeFone)
TUNING (CONSULT)
SETTINGS
-POWER (Reset)
-BLUETOOTH
--New Device
--Enable/Disable
-DISPLAY
--Brightness
--Contrast
--Day/Night (Manual)
--GPS (settings/satellites)
Current iteration examples:
Examples that skin is inspired by:

Looks like a theme that has potential.
Good luck with it
Actually looks like it has quite a few bits in common with the BMW iDrive that is in the 6 series

Mmmmm... I say it looks more like FU. But I like that 3-D GPS view with the trees and the buildings.

Looks like a terriffic looking layout and yes it is familiar with FU and my skin as well. That shouldnt discourage you at all on completing your work. Just remember some of rr's limitatins will prohibit your skin from mimicing the nissan skin... particularly the fact that RR does not allow custom application (A) shapes and doesnt allow any part of the skin to hang over a portion of the (A) window.

That makes me sad. I'll have to get creative on that one then.
EDIT: I may have a way to still make that somewhat work in appearance using the day/night skin features and just working the background with whatever application I'm embedding within the square 'application area'.

Quick question -- what would be the best way to integrate Tissy's logo/clock/speedo function into a skin? I've never intermingled flash objects or anything like that before so it's new ground for me.
Thanks,
-Kris

add it to your .skin file.. simply add in this line
F,0,0,0,0,"clock.swf"
Change the zeros to the coordinates of where u want the clock shown.

Looks like I'll be taking a step back in order to take two steps forward. I'm going to take what I've done so far and start working it into flash as I realized today a lot of my goals will only be realized if I do so.
I also need to read more into interfacing flash with RR as well as embedding iGuidance and some of the other tools out there like VLC or WMPC to make sure they work smoothly. It'll take more processing power but I think overall it will be worth it.

Thanks, it's going to take awhile as I want to do it right, after all some of the recent skins have really raised the bar on what one should expect but I want to meet those levels as well as satisfy my personal needs in maintaining the 'OEM but better' feeling. Flash is the key to it and I'm glad I saw that now instead of later.
Tzunami, I agree with Mike -- I didn't initially mind but I've been sent a few PM's commenting on your skin because they thought it was development on mine. If you wouldn't mind removing the images I'd appreciate it -- on the flip side of that I highly suggest you make a thread to showcase it as there was some positive interest in it from the PM's I received.

Keep up the excellent work. I look forward to having this skin On a side note, what GPS software is that? I saw the Iguideance support, though looking at the software have to wonder if thats one hell of a IG hack, or something else.
