Before I release 1.02, i want to find a good FREE font editor. I have glyphs of the characters I want to add, I just need to assign them to the font.
Anyone know of a good free one? or maybe a trial version I haven't burned through yet?

Edit:
I found a font editor program, so I will have a new font released soon. (I'm going to change the name to something other than Webdings 3) so that will be included in the 1.02 release and it's own release on my website.

Still working good. The progress slider is nice. Thanks for the update.

She starts without a background and text; while you can edit skin.ini to give it a background, you can't do anything with the text but to hit buttons hoping to hit the right one. Perhaps making that one button always visible and not controlled by the color changing code..maybe.

Also, when in the text color chooser, the "background" button when pressed does nothing.

I know about the background button being blank in the color chooser, originally it was to go to a font chooser, but I didn't implement that, and for some reason, the button isn't coded the way I thought.

I'll make an invisible button that defaults the text color to white, and sets the background to a default burgundy one. It's a button that will only be needed the first time it starts, and after the skin is changed in RRSkinEditor. (Check the first post for new download, version 1.021)

A button to set it to the default if something happens? Ya, that would be a good thing for sure. If there was an easy way to default to something like this in RR's code that would be even better.

Nice work, your audio screencap background pic is from shock skin, which is a picture I snapped last year on a Hawaiin cruise

I think I got those pics from the shock skin download right when the transparent version came out. my GF just went to hawaii (she has family there) and the pic she took is now my desktop background.

I really like this skin, so far it's my favorite out of all the ones I've designed. It's the best looking, and easiest to use, and it's just a nice solid light (5mb) skin which is perfect for CarPC's.
The next step is getting into flash skins, but my flash creator is from when flash 5 first came out, and I don't have the serial number anymore to get the update. So, I'll have to find a way to get it cheap. I have an idea for a skin that would be pretty cool, but only if I can get a flash creator.

ok, update 1.03, it was bothering me a little that the mixer was the only screen left over from the hAv1c skin, so I changed it to match this skin. This now makes the total skin only 1.8 MB total!

The next thing I am going to work on for this skin and the 1.04 release is embedding Windows Live Mail (wlmail.exe) since I use Live for my JC Auto Design email.

There will be a few new skins:

WLIVE.skin - Shows the main view with all your folders and messages, etc.
WLIVENEW.skin - Embeds the compose new email screen and allows access to the OSK
WLIVEREPLY.skin - Embeds the reply-to email screen and allows access to the OSK
WLIVECONTACTS.skin - Embeds the contacts screen, and adds the contact to the email.
WLIVEMAIL.skin - Opens the currently selected message and embeds in full view to be able to read it better.

These will all use the same .png as the video player, so the skin size will remain small.

Also in the release is going to be minor housekeeping with button codes.

These methods can probably be applied to outlook the same way, so someone using that will be able to easily use their email...

Here's a few teaser screen shots of where the development is at. I've got the label shadows working on all but the bottom center song title. Not sure why but it won't show the label below it. Similar issues with the ilists.

As soon as elcamino gets label support on the overlay plugin, it will be a much more dynamic skin.

Now, with the custom font color changed to a standard green:

Notice in the first shot that it says "Muted" the label changes from the icon to muted to show that is why there is no sound. Also, the volume level is represented in the top left by a slider under the current time.

Since the overlay plugin doesn't support labels yet, the text is part of the overlay image.

I've gotten most of the labels duplicated for the shadows, and I've gotten the volume slider on every screen. But what would be more preferred; slider under the time or under the shufflerepeat indicators?

For the 1.04 release, I am not going to implement the e-mail plugin.
I've added a new screen that displays if a feature is not supported yet:

man.. amazing.. all this features and still less than 2 meg.... That's impressive..... it's like a girl saying, i eat whatever i want, but i only weigh 90 lbs all the time... That's bull****... but this, i see it with my own eyes...

The reason most skins are huge is there is usually 3 jpegs for each screen. With all the features that most skins have, that usually adds up to over 50-60 jpegs. I've got the images saved in .png and I reuse different images for similar screens, and I don't really use the "on" image.
A lot of skinners can apply these principles and drastically reduce their skin's "weight" without excersize or crazy diet pills.
