I am happy to announce that version 6.0 of the shock skin series has been made public. this is by far the most feature packed version of shock to date. Thank you to everyone who has contributed code, tips and ideas for further development in the shock skin v5.0 thread! The skin would not be this far along without your help.

Shock skin criteria has always been small, lightweight, simplicity, consistency and rock solid. This version is cleaner (art and code) than any previous release and all of the menus, although similar have been changed for the better in some way. You will really see a difference when you upgrade from v 5.0

Please note that although fully functional and working great the HD menu (radio_player.skin) is at this moment in beta form. This is partly due to the actual RR code, not the skin, but it is to be expected as this tuner is so new. I am working to resolve the known issues which include :

-Presets not saving after entered. (FIXED)
-Station frequency resets when navigating away from the HD menu. (FIXED)

If you can help develop the HD menu further please post your code or solutions. Its not like me to release anything beta but I know that this menu will develop faster if its public.

Here is a quick run through of new features:

-HD radio support
-New art on all menus
-Transparent iList on every list
-Script to install directx7 for iList
-MediaLaunch integrated
-WiFi connect menu
-Working background.skin with preview
-Additions to settings.txt

There are some more small things that are new or have been changed and you can find them all in the _read_me_.txt included in the download. Please read this document as the skin will never work right unless you read what the requirements are, plus there are helpful operation notes.

Have fun with it, tear it apart, love it, hate it, let me know how it works for you.

Without further a due here is the Shock Skin 6.0

Please Visit www.shocknet.us for download link

I would like to start out saying that you have done a great job with the write up of your install and this skin. So far I was able to test out the HD Radio (Visteon) and no problems here. I did find that when I try to set the background there is no preview showing up. I'm running RR Ver : 12/13/2007 if this helps.

Tried it last night and followed the instructions the readme, and the skin/RR hung when attempting to enter the background menu. The buttons were also invisable until passed over with the mouse, although I know this is linked into not having selected a default background. Catch 22! Got it working by altering skin.ini to change to my preferred background picture, although this did not solve the crash issue.

Any ideas?

Mine is not crashing but i'm struggling to get the BG list and preview to show-up. Altho i manually input the BG .JPG in skin.ini, i can't change it other than manually. Both background path and picspath point to my BG folder. ????

Hey guys make sure that this is in your Exectbl.ini

Code:
"ONFILECLICK","SETVARBYCODE;imgfilename;LISTTEXT",background.skin

I'm pretty sure that's what wingnut's problem is,

Also here is the important entry in my rr.ini file.

Code:
backgroundpath=C:\backgrounds

Please note that the variable is backgroundPATH in rr.ini

In skin.ini the skin writes the code as background=c:\backgrounds\1.jpg

Not sure if anyone has the two mixed but once the background menu is configured you do not manually edit skin.ini. The background.skin automatically writes the changes when you switch.

Also delete any resume.ini files in the RR root folder before launching

I'm baffled! I created a ExecTBL.ini within the skin; double checked my backgroundpath; deleted resume.ini but still the list nor the preview show up.

Can anyone else change background from within the skin?

The ExecTBL.ini file is located in the roadrunner root folder it does not go in the skin folder. Probably should have specified that. The code is good to go, its working on my desktop and its been moved over to the carPC successfully. In order to understand whats going on better I am going to post the code for further examination.

Code:
RoadRunner Skin RRScreen background menu_1_off.png,menu_1_off.png,menu_1_on.png,menu_1_off.png /Labels INC,settings.txt L,698,3,100,45,#TOPBAR_RED#,#TOPBAR_GREEN#,#TOPBAR_BLUE#,#TOPBAR_SIZE#,#FONT#,#BUTTON1#,"CENTER" L,584,3,106,45,#TOPBAR_RED#,#TOPBAR_GREEN#,#TOPBAR_BLUE#,#TOPBAR_SIZE#,#FONT#,#BUTTON2#,"CENTER" L,464,3,110,45,#TOPBAR_RED#,#TOPBAR_GREEN#,#TOPBAR_BLUE#,#TOPBAR_SIZE#,#FONT#,#BUTTON3#,"CENTER" L,350,3,108,45,#TOPBAR_RED#,#TOPBAR_GREEN#,#TOPBAR_BLUE#,#TOPBAR_SIZE#,#FONT#,#BUTTON4#,"CENTER" L,232,3,107,45,#TOPBAR_RED#,#TOPBAR_GREEN#,#TOPBAR_BLUE#,#TOPBAR_SIZE#,#FONT#,#BUTTON5#,"CENTER" L,114,3,110,45,#TOPBAR_RED#,#TOPBAR_GREEN#,#TOPBAR_BLUE#,#TOPBAR_SIZE#,#FONT#,#BUTTON6#,"CENTER" L,5,3,101,45,#TOPBAR_RED#,#TOPBAR_GREEN#,#TOPBAR_BLUE#,#TOPBAR_SIZE#,#FONT#,#BUTTON7#,"CENTER" L,607,322,128,33,255,255,255,#BUTTON_LABEL#,#FONT#,"=APPLY NOW", L,4,60,57,32,#MAIN_RED#,#MAIN_GREEN#,#MAIN_BLUE#,18,#FONT#,"VOLUME","LEFT" L,186,60,398,32,#SC_RED#,#SC_GREEN#,#SC_BLUE#,18,#FONT#,"AUDIOTRACK","SCROLL-LEFT" L,68,60,106,32,#MAIN_RED#,#MAIN_GREEN#,#MAIN_BLUE#,18,#FONT#,"GPSSPD","LEFT" L,593,60,80,32,#MAIN_RED#,#MAIN_GREEN#,#MAIN_BLUE#,18,#FONT#,"TIME","CENTER" L,680,60,114,32,#MAIN_RED#,#MAIN_GREEN#,#MAIN_BLUE#,18,#FONT#,"DATE","RIGHT" /Background Change Code B,553,291,219,92,"SETVARBYCODE;LISTTEXT;LISTTEXT||SETVAR;background;$backgroundpath$\$LISTTEXT$||SAVETOSKIN;background;$backgroundpath$\$LISTTEXT$||RELOADSKIN||Load;background.skin", /J,555,85,223,157 SD,00,03,,,"$backgroundpath$","*.jpg",0,,,,,,, S01,90,104,426,290,255,255,255,0,0,0,255,255,255,255,255,255,255,255,200,#TOPBAR_RED#,#TOPBAR_GREEN#,#TOPBAR_BLUE#,false,#LIST_SIZE#,#FONT# IL,DL,transparent.bmp,selBK.bmp,,0,50,60 /Buttons B,6,316,70,81,"PGDOWN||SETVARBYCODE;imgfilename;LISTTEXT", B,5,250,70,59,"DOWN||SETVARBYCODE;imgfilename;LISTTEXT", B,5,102,70,84,"PGUP||SETVARBYCODE;imgfilename;LISTTEXT", B,4,188,70,59,"UP||SETVARBYCODE;imgfilename;LISTTEXT", B,703,405,102,78,"EXIT", B,601,404,100,78,"SHUFFLE", B,501,404,99,78,"NEXT", B,400,404,102,78,"PLAY", B,300,404,99,78,"PREV", B,199,404,100,78,"MUTE", B,96,404,103,78,"VOL-", B,-2,404,98,77,"VOL+", B,695,0,106,60,#B1_FUNCTION#, B,579,0,116,60,#B2_FUNCTION#, B,462,0,116,60,#B3_FUNCTION#, B,347,0,114,60,#B4_FUNCTION#, B,228,0,117,60,#B5_FUNCTION#, B,110,0,116,60,#B6_FUNCTION#, B,0,0,109,60,#B7_FUNCTION#, /Indicator I,202,469,97,10,"MUTE:b" I01,536,110,247,168,"FILE;$backgroundpath$/$imgfilename$:a" END

The last line is the one that shows the list which is a modified version of Sal's code. Do me a favor and try taking out the "/" in that last line of code and see if it works for you.

How is everything else working? I know you will get this background.skin conquered treetop

Not true. It can go in either but the one in the skin folder overrides the other. This skin is working great over here so far. Was bummed when my suggested changes for the weather skin weren't there but thats easily fixed on my own. Been playing a little today and really like the new layout (I always forget where the mixer is in previous versions). Keep up the great work.

hi all, i have the list and preview working perfectly

first, so i could see all the buttons, i selected a background, and manually put it in the skin.ini file.

then what i did was create a exectbl.ini in the skin folder with the
"ONFILECLICK","SETVARBYCODE;imgfilename;LISTTEXT", background.skin
code.

then in rr.ini, i added "backgroundpath=f:\roadrunner\backgrounds\" under the [extras's] section.

to get the preview working, i changed the code in the skin to this I01,536,110,247,168,"FILE;$backgroundpath$\$imgfil ename$:a"

here it is:

after all that, it works perfectly, and looks amazing. thanks a lot for the wonderful skin.

david

I think david nailed it. The forward slash vs. the backslash. Changing or removing that slash will most likely solve your issues. Sal said the code should work without the slash but it would not work for me that way.

Thanks for the info about the ExecTBL.ini I should probably make a copy and place it in the skin solder for ease of setup. I was not aware it could be read from the skin directory.

Qizmo, the weather changes are still in the works, I have treetops code but I am still working on the new art for this. I will post a patch when its done.

Thanks guys for the testing and the support!

Also forgot to mention this in the readme, but the date setting should be DD:MM:YY to fit the info bar properly. Here is a screencap of menu_2 with media launch detecting a USB drive. Info on the right pane. Also a modified a couple numbers form the settings.txt for a completely different color scheme.
