Looks like John may need to soon add another GPS screen to his collection, Garmin's UMPC Mobile is coming out very soon!

I posted a few pages back about using T-Mobile in my truck for internet connection and how the weather and CNN are not updating. I did some more reading and searching but still no luck with this. I think I read somewhere that the weather info is coming from www.weather.com but I was wondering if anyone could explain how the skin is getting the info. I can use IE or Firefox to browser to the site and get locale weather but from inside the skin it just sits there trying to load. This also freezes RR for a little bit.

If this doesn't seem like a skin problem sorry for posted here. Just let me know and I will try posting somewhere else for help on this.

I had, well still do till I call and cancel, a Tmobile data plan, it was the sorriest connection I have ever seen, at least in the houston area, maybe where your at its better, but I couldn't get updates and such either. My T-mobile connection was rarely ever better than 50k, I signed up for ATT and with this little USB sierra 881 I have never connected under .5M and ussualy more like 1.5M plus upspeed is always up over 1M . everything works like it should with this.

I use an ATT usb sierra card too. Works good, 1.5down/.5up
In the case of ATT card, it installs an "accelerator" service. I just get rid of it because what it does is that it proxies the connections and messes with image compression etc.. Most likely it connects you to an ATT proxy to do the compression magic.
Make sure yours is not setting a proxy on the browsers that RR is not aware of.

Mine gave me the choice to install the accelerator service when I installed the software and naturally I declined.

Might as well make sure it's actually working before you play with anything else.

he already said it works outside of RR

I have narrowed it down. There is a variable autoupdateinterval (I believe that's it off the top of my head) that is used by at least weather and zip code locator. I set that to 0 which I believe disables it. Hibernation resumed working.

AutoUpdateInterval is the setting for the zipcode database lookup. That will set the labels for city, state, zipcode and county even without internet connection. This is also where the gas price finder takes your location (Internet required for this part) and finds the cheap gas stations close to your location.

Sometimes it helps if I read the whole post. I lost interest about half way though.

Edit: I went and deleted my retarded post.

I'm not sure of all the specifications and such, but it appears just to be a re-branded NavTeq map set, just like iGuidance. They have skinned it, which makes it look a little different, but it appears to be running on the same exact back end as iGuidance 4.0.

Ok...my translation...

His gas price finder used to work, but now it doesn't...he downloaded John's umpc patch, he has a internet connection in his car...

More information would be helpful...what changes if any were made before it stopped working...does the gas price screen not show up or does the gas station/prices just not show up...
