I had the same issue solved it by removing a character in the artist name...
Went from having a 250 kb to a 7148 Kb in my musicpath root
It should work..
And what character was this? I can't do checks or maybe handle this differenty if I don't know what you guys are finding and fixing without telling...

Going to see Journet, Heart and Cheap Trick in concert..... Gonna seem strange with the new Journey lead singer Arnel Pineda. It's SCARY Just how much he sounds exactly like Steve Perry....
Saw the same concert last night myself. Good concert. Enjoy.

I would like to know what character was removed also.
Oh well, I guess I'll get started searching for the rogue file. I've already searched through my 11,000 song collection twice to find two files that were causing the database build to crash during my first db scan.
I do have some .flac, .ape, and wma files in my library, will these files cause a problem?
Also, do I need to create the ratings playlist ( 1 Star, 2 Star, etc.) or should they be created automatically by the program?

Holding ANY info on files that caused a bad/incomplete builds to your self, isn't going to help others that might also have similar files nor help me to see if I prevent them from crashing the building process...

Current supported formats are 'MP3,MP2,MP1,M4A,WMA,FLAC,AAC,WAV,ASX,OGG'

No, the only reason that I have these two steps in there are to automate the importing of the older rating system by Sonic into the db.

I agree.... I still dont know the exact files that were causing my build to freeze. But I did find the folders that contained the bad files by scanning my library in parts.
What I did was move half of my library to another folder on my hard drive. Scanned. The build stopped at 33%. I then moved that half of the library to an outside folder, deleted the RRmediaDb.db and moved the unscanned half into the music directory path. Scanned again. Build completed.
I then added half of the other files (the first half that caused the build to freeze) into the directory. Scanned.... Soon and so on..... until I narrowed it down to two folders.
The funny thing is, when I scanned the bad folders independently , the build didn't freeze. But when I added them back to the whole library and scanned, the build froze everytime. The files in these folders appear to be fine (mp3s from ripped cd,) but I'll take a closer look at them and report what I find.

Hello John,
About the Google Earth Skin, what version I need to make it work with the GPS like as in the DFX 2.0?
... and FYI, the new DFX rocks... the screenlock and new gauge style is just AWESOME!

Would be a good idea to make note of it here and maybe a post in my thread pointing to your findings post to help remind me...

OK, I will. Well, I'm still at it, There seems to be three different files causing three seperate issues with the db builder.
The first type causes the build to freeze. I have these narrowed down to 7 files in my library. I'm adding them one by one until the db freezes again. Nothing irregular sticks out within these files or tags and I've ran MP3Test on them as well and found no major corruption of the files. When I'm done I'll send you the rogue file and let you analyze it.
The second type of file is causing the songs included during that certain scan not to be added to the db even though the scan shows completed. This was my main problem to begin with. I have this narrowed down to a folder with about 500 songs...
The third one is strange, It gives me some sort of COM error (LiteX.Statement.... or something like that). But after hitting OK on the error box, the build continues and the songs are added. I'll post a pic when I figure out how to do so.

update on the database problem I'm having (same one as ccwild):
My RRMediaDB.db file is only 32KB, so I deleted it and tried to rescan my files. During the new scan, i get a popup box that shows this:
When I click OK it says the "Database Build Complete", 2319 songs.
Also, I notice that when the error popup is displayed, the "FilesScannedList.txt" file exists in the RMDatabase\Support Files directory. However, when i click OK to the error popup and it says Database Build Complete, and FilesScannedList.txt is nowhere to be found.
In the FilsScannedList.txt, it shows that all the files in my music folder has been scanned.
I looked at line 2296 of the Scanned List and saw that it was:
Code:
Line 2295:20080609112358 Sorted\Xzibit\Man vs. Machine\Xzibit - Multiply (Remix).mp3
Line 2296:20080609112358 Sorted\Xzibit\Man vs. Machine\Xzibit - Multiply Remix.mp3
I thought maybe the database was getting stuck with 2 versions of the same song title (one with parentheses, one without), so I deleted the mp3 file referenced in line 2296, deleted the RRMusicDB file, and rescanned. I get the same error screen except the "Processing" line shows 2295 instead.
That's a good amount of information - I hope I explained it well enough for people to understand. Hopefully it will help get to the cause of the problem.

John, I installed 4.0 and the only thing I notice is the button for maps doesn't work.
Also, where do I find the Weather_Interactive.skin to modify it for my L&L? I did it for 3.0 and now it seems I have to do it again for 4.0, but I can't find the file. Must be the heat! Excuse me if my question is a minor one. I love the new database feature when creating a playlist. Now I can listen to all my songs without "manually" searching. Thanks Blue!
