So I did a bad thing by upgrading to Winamp 5.54? It seems to work fine....so far.
How would I (or should I) download an older version of winamp?

Kudos gentleman, for all your hard work and great interfaces.

Mitch and I have discovered that using a newer winamp version creates issues with the the winamp.dll file that rr uses to talk to winamp. It has to deal with retrieving the tag data from the newer versions as something changed and the dll file can't compensate for it.

Sounds like an opportunity for a RR enhancement! I"d volunteer, but I have no idea where to start. What is the module/class/code in the source code that is tied in to the DLL that controls winamp? 5.13 was some time ago. I have noticed with the version I am using, the tag info is screwy. Everything else works fine.

The other reason for using the 5.13 ver is also b/c that seems to be the only one that will allow rr to properly embed the visual's in the correct location as well..

I don't have my exectbl file in front of me, but if you place the setvol command in the onstart line, it'll set the volume to that level everytime you start RR.

Yeah correcting wasn't my intentions, I more had a question of the right way to implement this to have it work correctly, as doing it the way I explained, or you doesn't result in it doing anything for me.
I assume this works for others and I am just doing something wrong?

I take it that the newer version of winamp, the playlist would not work right either? I do not see the playlist as built by the database engine, but at least it works, but does not create a playlist for me to play. Looks like I'll be doing some fixing this weekend to make sure all the versions are correct for optimum performance with RR and DFX 4.

Now THAT's what I'm talking about works perfectly!
Nothing I read had the "startcommand=" part which I either overlooked or just didn't know well enough to insert in there.

Thanks!

Other than the dll issues Blue mentioned, Winamp 2.95 does not work with the transparent visualizations. 5.13 works perfectly, as where 5.15, 5.17 ect ect MAY work, but most of the other versions, other than 5.13, when ran, do not lock the visualization in place in RR. It will appear 100 pixels or so over and down from where it is supposed to be.

If someone could test this out on their system, and let me know how it works for you at 800 x 480, that would be great.

Not sure if you got any feedback on this but wanted to give you my thoughts as I run 800X480 in the car.
It works great on the screens I have used except for the video screen.
The buttons seem to "droop" towards the right.

John,

Where do you reccomend I can download 5.13? I saw a site called winamp heaven. it has quite a few versions there. The difference between the latest version and 5.13 is that the latest version is twice as big!

it's too hard for me to dig all 169 pages to find out how to embed iguidance with digitalfx buttons around the map.
and when I add new songs to the database, the new songs wouldn't play, but some voice comes out, something like 'underscore...something.' how do i fix that?

It's not too hard, you're just lazy. At least be honest with us

Check out the RR help file, or this FAQ:

Also/or see the dfx help file, it will also tell you how to do that.

Open the config and uncheck the voice setting, to get rid of the chattering.

And if you've just dl this skin, you'll need to update the db plugin as the one that comes with the skin is now old.
