Hi guys, long time lurker here. I've been looking at installing a CarPC simply for the fact that I can use WMP11 in my car. I realize that RR (and most other FEs) uses Winamp to play music, but Winamp lacks a key feature that I would require. I have over 1500 RATED songs (about 80 hrs of music) on my PC. The ratings are globally stored in each song file so I can transfer just the song to any other computer and not have to worry about some "ratings master" file. That is the ONLY reason I use WMP and the ONLY reason I don't use Winamp. I really wish the Winamp guys would fix this, but from what I've read it doesn't seem like they ever will. I've used Winamp and I thought it was awesome. It boggled my mind as to how they can put so many features into that product, but leave out a very key one. But the fact is, I don't have 80 hours to re-rate all my music. And then what happens if the master file with all the ratings gets deleted somehow.
All I require in a FE is global ratings support, lossless audio support, and a sort by Album Artist function. I can't seem to find that in any RR skins. I've downloaded a lot of skins and I was really impressed with all the awesome features. There appears to be a lot of talent on this forum. All I want to know is anybody planning on making a WMP11 based skin for RR or am I going to have to learn to code myself (I did take a C++ class back in college
)? Until it happens, I think I'll be better off using WMP and nav software without a FE
( I already do that with my laptop). Regardless, I do appreciate all the work and creativity you code monkeys put into this stuff. Thanks.
