Ok lets see if i can get this somewhat understandable. Assuming you installed both the original overlay and the LSX mod, all you have to do is assign the command to one of LSX's buttons, this is how i did it (BTW the way djmicky did it works as well):
Possition a button you will never use where you want the garmin button - i placed a "sirious" button in the lower left of the skin.
Now open exectbl and change the following:
/,-----------Step 1 add or modify app command------------Main Menu Top Buttons-Commands to Start Apps-------------
/default main menu 2 buttons
"AP18","RADIO"
"AP19","XM"
"AP20"," SIRIUS" - Change to "GMPC||GMPC_OVERLAY||RUNGMPC"

"AP22","RRCAM"
"AP23"," ||CDRIP"
"AP24","SENSOR"
"AP25","JOOST"
"AP26","CONFIGOPT"
/,------------Step 2 add app Button Name---------Main Menu Top Buttons-Labels on skin----This will be the label you see on your cutom button---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That should be it. When you restart the skin, the "sirius" button should now read "GARMIN" and shoul fire up the overlay.
ALTERNATIVELY, you can setup the button command like djmickyg did.

First off Im not sure what you mean by LSX mod, but anyway I followed your instructions and all it does is fire up the overlay but not the program.

Post 123.
Everithing to make it work is posted so if it don't work it's something you are not doing right. Maybe you should try with less complex skins - try it with Mav1c or Hav1c (MonkeyRacer's skins) that are fairly easy to modify.
Good luck.

I feel I have followed the instruction, posted my config files and everything. You all have seen how I have it set up so I can't be that far off. Im not switching skins, that would defeat the purpose of doing this whole setup if its not the way I want it.

treetop777 was suggesting to see if you can get GMPC to embed in hAv1c+ or mAv1c since they are a lot more simple than LSX, DFX, etc. If it works there, then there's an issue with the LSX settings.

One more thing to post then, can you post the contents of the menu.skin from your LSX folder?
I think you may be missing components of the command on the button.

change this button:
Code:
B03,313,39,158,77,"MAINBT3",@HOLDMAINBT3@
to this:
Code:
B03,313,39,158,77,"GMPC||RUNGMPC||GMPC_OVERLAY"
That should work.
Let me know.

Ok now the overlay loads when I hit the button and so does Garmin ONLY if garmin is already loaded in the background. Yet when I go to spell a city the keyboard does not show up. Here is a video once again...thank you all for your help so far I know this is getting old but I promise I'm trying.
I hope the quality is good enough I took it with my phone.

Ok, we're getting closer;
In rr.ini change this:
Code:
[General]
garminpath=C:\Garmin\GarminMobilePC\Que.exe
to this:
Code:
[General]
garminpath=C:\Garmin\GarminMobilePC\
notice the filename is purposely missing, since in the exectbl.ini you have this:
Code:
"RUNGMPC","RUN;$garminpath$;!CDP",GMPC.skin
Also, you have GPSPATH incorrect, as treetop777 pointed out, but it's unnecessary to change it since this uses it's own path.
also, to activate the keyboard, you need to press the top left corner of the overlay on the area labeled "GARMIN RR" to hide it, press the same area. basically this is two overlays, when you press that area, it closes the first overlay, and then loads the second one (with the OSK) and vice versa when you press it again.
I think this will help. Let me know.

Ok As far as the overlay and the keyboard...they work. Still though If I do not have Garmin loaded initially before starting up road runner it will not start when I click the button. If it is loaded it comes up just fine, except the bottom volume bottons and the grey bar along the botton are up to high so they are covering up a little bit of the buttons in garmin itself. (I used the 800x600 files which is what everything is running at)

What you are describing sounds like RR is not embedding the program. Did you make the changes I posted two posts ago? (#144)
It should just work. The button should open the gmpc.skin, then open que.exe, then load the overlay.
one other thing to try, open up GMPC without RR, and drag the lower right corner so that GMPC is as small as it will allow, and then press the Maximize button in the top corner. Then keep GMPC open and start RR. Do the bottom buttons line up better?

Yes I made that changes to rr.ini. After I did the thing with Garmin that you told me and started up RR when I first clicked on the button it loaded up Garmin but it wasnt exactly full screen(there was some space left at the bottom) and once the overlay loaded it stretched Garmin to full screen and it became no longer lined up with the overlay. Now when garmin first loads and it still has that space at the bottom it lines up perfect with where the overlay is going to be but once it pops up like I said garmin goes full screen and its off sync.

Any idea if there will be an OSK option set up for those of us NOT using RR?
I'm using FreeIce right now and don't need any of the audio controls as CDRSkull made FreeIce embed GMPC perfectly inside the FreeIce window while still retaining the bottom control buttons (media control, volume, etc). I have a keyboard hooked up at all times in the car, but having an OSK would be great. Just haven't found one for anything other than RR yet.

Negatory. I grown to love FreeIce too much. Especially with how nice GMPC looks/works with it. Guess I'll have to keep the keyboard handy.
