Now when garmin first loads and it still has that space at the bottom it lines up perfect with where the overlay is going to be but once it pops up like I said garmin goes full screen and its off sync.
Bumpin this, still has that problem but for some reason this morning when I turned it on it won't even throw up Garmin inmore. Just the overlay and a blank screen.

Ok monkey my RoadRunner will still not work so Ima post it publicly(in case someone else can fix the problem before you get back on).
Just to let you know when I load roadrunner it said it cannot find a skin or somethinglike that. The error started coming up when monkey made some changes to try and fix my overlay problem with the menu.skin file.

This seems strange to me since the only thing I changed was what I posted in post 142:

Code:

That should work.
Let me know.
Then I sent the file back to him to be saved over the old version.

Hmm man I dunno, I will try and delete all those files, replace them with the original, then try yours again. I'll let you know tomorrow.

/EDIT Nevermind, figured it out, works absolutely perfectly!!
I wish you would have posted where/what you changed Lord Nikon. I have no idea how to find the button to change.
Can you or someone that knows what to change in DFX let me know?

Sorry guys, i should have posted what changes i made to get it to work...
Ok, for getting the overlay working in DFX 4.0...this is what i did:
Firstly, to make sure that you are getting Garmin Mobile PC to load, make sure you have these 2 lines in RR.ini:
gpsname=Garmin=C:\GarminMobilePC\Que.exe
garminpath=C:\GarminMobilePC\Que.exe
Then in your DFX4.0 skin folder, find Exectbl.ini and you need to make a few changes:
1st: Find the ------Embed External Applications------- section and make sure the Garmin/Gps line says this:
"Garmin","LOAD;Garmin_GPS.skin;!CDP_FIELD_WND;C:\G arminMobilePC\Que.exe;!CDP_FIELD_WND"
2nd: Find the ------Dynamic Menu Buttons------ section (down the bottom of the file) and make sure you have this line:
"MyApp53","GMPC||GMPC_OVERLAY||RUNGMPC"
3rd: Find the ----GPS Section By BlueZX3 & JohnWPB----- section (VERY bottom of the file) and then add these 5 lines:
"GMPC_OVERLAY","RUN;$SKINPATH$ElcosMenu.exe|GMPCOL .skin"
"GMPCOSK","RUN;$SKINPATH$ElcosMenu.exe|GMPCOSK.ski n"
"X_OVERLAY","SENDMSG;ElcosMenu;Exit"
"GMPC","LOAD;GMPC.skin"
"RUNGMPC", "RUN;$garminpath$;!CDP"
When i was looking at how all the files talked to each other in DFX4.0, i noticed that it was all done in the ini's and not the skin files like the other skins. So if you have made any changes to the skin files, restore them to original, make the changes i listed above and it *should* work...did for me (wonderfully i might add)....and i am very grateful to Monkey for initially creating this...

YAY! Got it working, dunno what was up but I took the computer inside uninstalled everything and followed all the instructions you guys have posted and it works. Only problem is there is still a off sync problem with Garmin and the overlay, here is a screen shot and that you all that have helped so far!

oh thats an easy one :P That is because im assuming you installed the 800x480 skins for use on your car lcd, but running RR on an external monitor it defaults to 800x600 so the skins aren't quite lining up. If you put the 800x600 overlay skins on it will be sweet. Or you can just take your computer back out to your car and im pretty sure you'll find it will be just fine.

RR is set to 800x600 and I used the 800x600Overlay files.

"RUNGMPC","RUN;$gpspath$;!CDP",GMPC.skin
WOW! Thanks for this! I was scouring this thread trying to figure out how to get GMPC to load.
I guess I got confused about gpspath and garminpath. I'm an RR noob.

hi monkeyracer, i tried to install this garmin overlay skin, but "nothing" appear on screen...i use DFX4 skin.
these steps i did:
1. L10,563,240,167,31,"GMPC||RUNGMPC||GMPC_OVERLAY" (added to c:\program files\roadrunner\skins\digitalfx4.0\garmin_gps , this button position i found from skin_editor, indicated button 6 that i assigned to run GMPC)
2. "GMPC_OVERLAY","RUN;$SKINPATH$ElcosMenu.exe|GMPCOL .skin"
"GMPCOSK","RUN;$SKINPATH$ElcosMenu.exe|GMPCOSK.ski n"
"X_OVERLAY","SENDMSG;ElcosMenu;Exit"
"GMPC","LOAD;GMPC.skin"
"RUNGMPC","RUN;$garminpath$;!CDP",GMPC.skin
(copy all above code to c:\program files\roadrunner\skins\digitalfx4.0\exectbl.ini)
3. garminpath=C:\Garmin\GarminMobilePC\Que.exe (added this to c:\program files\roadrunner\rr.ini)
4. copy all skin file (800x480) to c:\program file\roadrunner\skins\digitalfx4.0\
5. elcosmenu.exe and garminsendkey.exe copy them to c:\program files\roadrunner\digitalfx4.0\
Please help, any other step to do or i did wrong?
**my garminpc software installed and work OK.

The first step you changed the label for the button rather than the command the button performs. Find the Line that starts with B rather than L, and change that command and let me know if that works.
