Having some issues with Garmin RR and the iGoBMW skin... I followed all the step to install. When I click the GPS button I get:
And it stays forever (as far as I can tell) unless I click on "Garmin RR" in the top left of the overlay and then it switches to:
From there, nothing. I can 'touch' any button (mouse click, didn't try keyboard) but nothing shows up and I can get nowhere else unless I exit back to the main menu. Any thoughts on the problem? thanks!

1. The steps you've taken to try to resolve it.
2. The skin you are using.
3. The version of RR you are using.
4. Attach a copy of your rr.ini and exectbl.ini, as well as the menu.skin (open it in notepad, and save as menu.skin.txt so it can be uploaded) from the skin you are using.
Without this information, it will be very hard for me to help figure it out.
Sounds like your button is not sending the full command. Post the files mentioned in the troubleshooting above, and I can see what is missing.

Contrary to the above suggestion, to get GMPC to actually load I had to use the following setting:
Code:
garminpath=C:\GarminMobilePC\Que.exe
So i guess your instructions are correct. Your comments above confused me though. I suggest for anyone having trouble getting the garmin app to load, check the garminpath setting. Mine was incorrect and this was causing my problem.
RR seems to be closing GMPC on exit so all is working well.
Simplistique skin
RR 13/12/07
GMPC 5.00.50
Next step... I want to ditch all the overlay buttons and just have one button that turns the OSK on and off. I run my GPS apps full screen, and have physical byttons on my LCD for next/prev/vol+/vol-/menu
I assume I can just jump in photoshop and remove the buttons from the PNG files and then their definitions from the skin files?
Thanks for this App by the way. I look forward to not using destinator any more

What I meant to say was that there's a new version that will include pictures, rather than text only. It will be a lot easier to follow, and should prevent a lot of the issues posted here. My free time has been dedicated to finding a job, and now that I've found one, my free time will be taken up with work, so getting this much needed update has been long overdue. Also, my skineditor is trying to install AutoCAD, so I'm having fun troubleshooting that too.
You should be able to load up Photoshop and chop off the buttons you won't use. But I'll be releasing the PSD's with the new update, so it will be even easier to edit everything. Then you'll want to remove the definitions in the .skin files.

New version uploaded, as well as user guide and PSD's on first post.
Please let me know if there are any issues with this version.
The user guide will need either powerpoint viewer (free) or powerpoint (not free) to be viewed.
The PSD's will require these two fonts to work:
JC Auto Design's CarPC.ttf
and
Bank Gothic Medium

Those are VERY clear instructions in the ppt file. Thanks for posting them. However, slides 6 and 7 are identical, which means the special instructions slide for skins like DFX4 aren't there.
Hope you can add them, I love this overlay and am looking forward to using it with both DFX and LSX skins!

 Very well done! It feels like it's missing an ending tho, sort-of like "close and save all changes - reload your skin" but that's minimal.
The answer to the next questions should be

The actual slide images are in the User Guide folder, and labeled, so while I fix the slideshow, you can view the instructions by opening the Special Instructions.png.
I may add a slide in between 6 and 7 that has shows how to test to make sure it works. And a credits slide too, with a link back to this thread possibly...
Basically, any question asked in the 170+ posts in this thread are answered in the User Guide. If I missed something (not impossible) then I'll add it.

wow - great work!
I have modified the skin as I mentioned previously, but I cant get the buttons to work.
Is there any reason this code shouldn't work? I am running 800x600
Code:
RoadRunner Skin
RRScreen gmpcol
gmpc600.png,gmpc600.png,gmpc600.png,gmpc600.png
/POSX=000
/POSY=000
/, B, x, y, w, h, Command;COMMANDCODES, Tooltip
B05,0,1,300,50,"X_OVERLAY||WAIT;0.5||GMPCOSK",
B01,650,1,149,40,"X_OVERLAY||EXIT",
END
I have chopped everything out of the gmpc600.png image, except the bar along the bottom (wasnt sure what it was for so left it there)
I have never played with this overlay stuff before. If the image is transparent at the area whre the button is defined, will the button still work? I suspect this is my problem. I judst want an invisible button over the GARMIN logo so when i click it it switches the OSK on...
I have attached my modified skin files. Thanks for your help.

The way the overlay works, the clickable area must not be transparent. So you would have to have SOMETHING there.
The bar along the bottom was just to hide the hotkey designations, but I left it out of the new update. I've included some .PSD's if you want to chop those up, just make sure there is something under the button you want.
