Garmin RR: Overlay and OSK for GMPC Updated 11/09/08 - Page 16

I am having problems where garmin won't open. If I open garmin first, minimize it, and then go into road runner, it will work fine, but it can't open it on its own. It's just stuck on the loading navigation screen. I triple checked all of the instructions and even uninstalled road runner completely and installed it again. Any ideas?

reply with your exbl, rr.ini. and menu.skin files please

I wasn't sure how to attach them, so I just renamed them all to .doc. Hopefully you can just change the extension back and they should work.

hey the exbl file you posted is that the one inside RR root dir or in DFX directory?

nevermind i see your not using the dfx.. the exble is that all thats listed or did you clip it.. i think you got it in the wrong execbl location..not sure if you got this in the skins directory or RR directory.. the one you posted looks too basic to be the skins execbl.. that would certainly cause you not to load within your skin..

thats the exbl in my elite lite directory. I didn't modify it. Maybe i'll download the elite lite skin again.

Im at work now but when i get home I'll check my elite skin folder also.. did you try it in carwigs? what you explain as your problem is RR is'nt catching the command to open it. but once it's open it embed correctly it just is'nt sending the command to open.

It's missing "GARMINPATH= <path to garmin>" (without quotes) in rr.ini "EXTRAS"

those are exactly my symptoms. I didnt try it in carwings yet. And i have the garminpath under gps, does it need to be under extras too?

I saw "gpspath" not "garminpath" - they have different purpose. Add garminpath right under gpspath and it should work.

Hi Guys,

Awesome job on the osk, monkeyracer and the other guys.

I've finally managed to fix the overlay issues I had, and thanks to LordNikon on the steps to follow in his post (#157). For those of you who are trying to get this overlay working on the digitalfx4 skin, please do take note that on post #157, the scripts have some typos if you're trying to cut & paste into the "exectbl.ini" There were a couple of spaces in the script that didn't get the OSK overlay working for me. After fixing it, it was GREAT!.

Anyway, many thanks to everyone here. Below is the part of the script that worked for me.

Make sure though, that there are no spaces in between lines like "GMPCOSK.skin". The forum may be inserting unwanted spaces automatically. It could be inserting a space break automatically after a period sign.???

"GMPC_OVERLAY","RUN;$skinpath$ElcosMenu.exe|GMPCOL .skin"
"GMPCOSK","RUN;$skinpath$ElcosMenu.exe|GMPCOSK.ski n"
"X_OVERLAY","SENDMSG;ElcosMenu;Exit"
