Working skin for MS Streets and Trips embedded in RR
Working pretty well anyway, if I were you I would not go out and buy it based on this setup but for those of you that already have it, it's workable.
The full write up is here http://www.hypersprite.com/auto/tech-z-008/
The short how to is
Set your RR to Hide:Taskbar
Change your "GPS","GPS" on your menu.skin to "LOAD;STREETS.SKIN;Streets;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Streets and Trips\Streets.exe;Map - Microsoft Streets & Trips","Streets"
Download and copy the files found here http://www.hypersprite.com/auto/tech...eets-night.zip into your skin folder.
and it will look more or less like this

and
To get full functionality, information, go to the first link on the full writeup so you can modify the GPS pane and a few other things to make it work just a bit better.

Dang.. you really put some work on it... I guess anybody not willing to spend the $$$ for a high-end GPS software could get S&T instead (~$40 last time I checked).
Regarding closing the application, RR will not "close" it by default when exiting the front-end, BUT if you go back into RR and launch the GPS again, RR will use the running application that was "hidden". You can adda "CLOSE" command to make it actually close out of the application when needed. Optionally, you can make your "exit" command (on the exit menu or wherever you exit from RR):
"CLOSEWINDOW;Map - Microsoft Streets & Trips||EXIT"
This will close the "hidden" application in case you left it open. It won't do anything wrong if S&T was not open.

I got S&T 05 for 15 buck from costco.
I may try this skin.
I really like the routing part of this software. It's worth 15 buck but NOT 50.

Guino,
I added that line to my main exit and it did the trick.
Updated the website with instructions.
Thanks,
Chris

oh, btw, I updated line the GPS line in the Audio_Player.skin file so that button works as well. I'm going to modify your skin files right now to work with the brushed metal skin.

I like the look of the skin that's wrapped around S&T. Nice Icons!

Yeah, my wife just informed me, it looks like my T1 is down, after trying to connect via my tampa network and my datacenter network, it seems my downtown office network (X freakin O) is off line. I will just have to wait until it is back up. That is what I get for free rack space
Sorry guys, it will be obvious when it is back up.

While I am waiting for XO to get there act together,
So today, I found out another issue with this skin, it breaks. If I save the open map or open a previously saved map, the application name changes from
"Maps - Microsoft Streets and Trips" to
"(whatever I named the file).est - Microsoft Streets and Trips" and then the skin breaks because the app name is wrong. It ends up opening a new instance of Streets.exe, hiding the other one under RR and generally making things strange.
When I get a minute, I will test it with the class name and windspector to see if that works. I'll update the skin if I can make it work better.
= = =
I also decided my amber is to yellow and needs more orange to match my car.

Well that worked, I will update the skin when I can get to my server again but in the mean time, if you already have it, change all occurrences of (menu.skin, streets.skin and exit_menu.skin)
Map - Microsoft Streets and Trips
to
!Afx:400000:8:0:0:103c6
and you will be able to use saved maps normally.
