Thanks, b8bboi, the skin is great.
For those who are interested, attached is the modified XM.skin properly aligning the XM signal strength indicators in the new 800x600 skin. Note that the XM skin in post 144 does not work for the new 800x600 skin, but will work with the existing 800x480 skin.
To update the skin simply unzip the attached file and copy the file "xm.skin" into the CFX_800_600 folder.

Replace Video Button with XM
b8bboi,
I would like to replace the Video button in the main menu of your skin with the XM button. I am new to skinning and trying to work through it. I have looked all through the skin files, but haven't found the code I need to replace. Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Kevin

modify all the .skin files and replace "VIDEO" with "XM" (usually on line 9).

Thanks. I did that and it changed the functionality, which is good, but not the labels. In other words, when I click the button that says "Video" XM comes up, but how do I change the label of the button to say "XM?" Do I need to use a graphics program to change the jpgs?

b8bboi,
I'm really starting to develop an appreciation for how much work goes into making a skin like this. Thank you for your efforts!
By the way, do you happen to remember what font you used for the text of the main menu buttons?

Pretty sure I used Moto. It's one of the 3 fonts in the "fonts" folder inside CFX.

The link to the skins are on the first post of this thread:, I also pasted it here: http://underconstruct.4t.com/LS%20Clocks/
I believe you want to replace the car_logo.jpg and clock.swf. That should do it, I've never had to do it since I have a Toyota. This should put you in the right direction though.

MoonShiner and theheel, you only need to replace the current clock.swf with a new one downloaded from Dinasty's site. Do not remove ore replace car_logo.jpg.
However, Dinasty's site is currently down or something. I can't download any of the stuff.
In the mean time, you can use RR's logo if you don't want the Toyota logo. Read the bottom of menu.skin and menu2.skin for instructions.
You can also try the spinning logo but that might look out of place.
(Or you can just make your own logo, resize it to the same size as car_logo.jpg and replace car_logo.jpg with it).

Is there any way that you can make it so that after about 30 secs or so it changes to different screen that has only menu up on top (where it is now), volume (also where it is) and Exit (change to lower right corner) and in the middle has the song artist / title with the song info (time remaining, kbps, etc) underneath it, along with a digital clock and below that the date... Of course it would only go to this screen if and only if you are not in any proprietary skins such as video or gps or so... I made a Photoshop hack (and when I say hack, i mean hack, because my Photoshop skills aren't so great so you'll have o forgive me for making your awesome skin look like crap; but you will get the idea of what I mean) of this but have no way to host it (I can email it you if you provide me an email address). This is just so that you dont have all the distractions while driving (Say if you wanted to know what time it is, right now you'd have to look at the small print in the very right upper corner...)

Also related to that whole "if a cop stops you and sees something that can play video while driving" thing; if all thats on the screen is the time, the date, volume controls and a menu and exit button, they really can't say anything. After that it's up to the driver to use his common sense and not watch a video while driving...

You're right, it was Moto. Being new to graphics as well as skinning, I downloaded The Gimp and used that to manually edit all the relevant jpegs (replace "Video" with "XM"). That was a fair amount of work, but everything looks pretty good. It then occurred to me there must be a reason why the skinners usually also make a PSD file available. I opened your PSD for the 800x480 skin with The Gimp and voila it appeared. I assume that one should just edit the appropriate layers in the PSD rather than editing every jpeg like I did? If so, is there a PSD available for the 800x600 skin?
This is kind of fun, but it sure has a big learning curve.
