profit, this may seem like a lot of work so ignore this request if you want. I'd like the ability to export a skin to a new resolution, for eg. from 800x480 to 800x600. What SkinEditor should do is scale all the coordinates/widths/heights to the new resolution.

I'm trying the Alpha now. It works good so far. I think it's fine with the way it switches. I still have testing to do, my only suggestion for now, would it be possible to make it so that if you highliht a button on skineditor screen, then open virtual pad the text corresponding to that button would be highlighted already??

Ok, everything looks ok to me, the check boxes are a good idea as far as how to handle to one behind the other problem.

Cant you just change the RR resolution under INI settings. Or do you want to physically change the resolution then have the editor auto move all the buttons?

Yes, I can do that but most of the time I'd rather resize all my images in Photoshop to the new resolution since it'll look better that way (less artifacts). Plus, commands like LoadIMG don't work correctly in resized skins.

Yes, that's what I'm looking for.

Yah I thought about that too. Wouldn't be to hard to do. Did you like the save button or would it be easier to just have it auto update when you switch back and forth. I could put another option to autosave or manual save.

I also had a properties box i was working on, but it didn't look right so i pulled it out on the alpha. not sure where im going to put it.

Check boxes.....they select sometimes when you dont want them too but i think that will be a mild inconvienence to not being able to select objects. I may have to move them outside of the listbox but we will see if i can get it to work with them in there.

The save button kinda messed me up at first, after, I didn't mind having to use it. However, I can't see any reason why auto save wouldn't be good too. Now, when I press save button on virtual editor, does that save the changes to the skin, or just apply the changes to show me in the editor? If there was a way to auto apply the changes without saving the skin file it would super helpful to be able to see what you just did without actually saving over the skin file.

I was just skinning a couple days ago where I made about 15 of the exact same buttons, I would have LOVED the virtual editor back then - I actually closed down skineditor and did the work in microsoft word so I could take advantage of copy/paste.

EDIT, the more I'm using the virtual, the more I'm realize how nice it would be to auto highlight the text based on what button is selected when switching. it would even help beginners to Identify what the text should look like for each object and understand.

That would be a cool feature indeed.

Another small change that would be nice, assign some unique Keys to the objects that are available, so that when you click on a box and it comes up T01, you don't know whether its a touchwheel or a textbox until you look further. Then there are ALL those Ss. Playlist, Dir List, slider, etc.

I was planning on having a properties box instead of the add object box/edit object box. Where when you select an object all the properties would come up ie. x,y, type, command, etc. And would be editable. I could have the correct type shown at the top

Yah....The virtual editor only updates the opened skin file it does not save the skin file. I do have it save a ~temp.skin file in the same folder. Maybe I need another name for it or like I said auto update skin or manual update skin.

If its a ~Temp file, then I'd say just auto update, or if its not much harder, add an option to select auto update on or off...

profit, you've done a fantastic job and there have been several good ideas coming out of you and all of the people here making suggestions. i definitely like the idea of auto highlighting text in the editor when clicking on the object in the designer screen. i also DEFINITELY like the idea of a preview screen in RR.

keep it up and thank for opening this thread to let everyone be candid about their opinions and suggestions and for you to be open to these suggestions.

okay auto highlight works. Auto update skin from virtual editor works with the settings checkbox to turn it on or off. Still have to save the skin from the RRSkinEditor with File/Save Skin. I'm still working on stuff but will release another alpha for tonight some time. Not sure what features i need to add to Virtual Editor. cut/paste/copy are already available with right click of the mouse. Undo will take some time to implement into the program. probably only have it undo one object setting at a time. i.e changed location changed size pretty much any change in the properties of an object. not sure about virtual editor having undo for character at a time. time will tell what i can get into the program.
