thanks for the effort, but no luck... still get the error no 13, type mismatch...
will do a format and reinstall of my computer later tonight, and see if that helps...
maybe it got something to do with the vbruntime files or something??

Well, it may have something to do with VB...I think Profit is not getting an error either, but both of us have VB, libraries and files on our Pcs...

marazi: Have you tried to open it with an earlier version of RRSkinEditor. Guino has the original v0.3 on his homepage. It might be a DLL or VB runtime files issue. I could try and create a packaged installer with all the dll's needed. Ive done it before but the file was like 5 megs and it just seemed easier for everyone to download a small file instead. You could download the VB runtimes to see if that fixes it. I will post a packaged download when i get home.

yay, at least i didn't cause it
Does it matter what you move or does anything cause it to crash? Do you have the VB runtime files? Do you have administrative rights to the PC? can you edit the .skin files with notepad without errors? Are you trying to run RoadRunner in the background? You only have one program using the files.

Maybe this will fix it Microsoft VB runtime files V6.0 sp5
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...D-CDF2D29A79D5
If this doesn't fix it I dont know what I can do to fix a problem I dont see on my end. If i can reproduce the error i should be able to fix it.

one thing i keep forgetting to ask for, is for rrskineditor to remember the last window state and position when last closed. Everytime i open it at night it damn near blinds me.
Also, before i forgett, this is another one ive been meaning to ask about.
The white area outside of the active area where the skin is. Can this area be changed to another color, like grey and also posible to drag objects into this area. A lot of times i want to re arrange objects and have to drag them all over the place etc, then its hard to move them around later depending on where i moved it (if its ontop of something else).

The only problem with dragging off the background image is that where the grey (mines grey or off white I guess, what color is yours?) there is no picture object to draw on. Everything gets updated and drawn onto the picture object. Maybe I can inlarge the picture box and shrink the background image down. Ive had a really really bad headache all day and thinking about how I would start something like that makes it hurt more that and the codine is kicking in and im starting to get tired.
I think the hide object will work for you in almost the same way. I'm going to add check boxes in the listbox next to the objects. When clicked the yellow or white border will go away and you wont be able to select it with the mouse. Almost like a hide object checkbox. Maybe even a select all de-select all box at the top that would hide or unhide all objects on the screen.
To tell you the truth im kinda worn out this week and probably wont work on this until saturday. As far as new skins it seems stable, there are a couple known bugs when creating a new skin in an empty folder. Or trying to open a skin when there arn't any. Flash will only display if its in the top 20 objects in the listbox. Plus if you try to reoder them they go "display" crazy and i cant figure out why yet. But they save okay and reopen fine. If an object is not in the objects.txt file then you will get a subscript 9 out of range error <- probably could fix it where it would ask for the correct layout of the object. couple other small things that could be fixed before I continue on the undo/redo.
Thats going to be a pain enough to figure out without crashing
dont worry though if i can repeat the error i can fix it. just takes time with work and life and its taking away from carputer building time. I guess the codine is working because im rambling.
Keep posting bugs and ideas and i will try to keep up.

Marazi, I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that Cranium skin uses triple digit button numbers - like B001. That's the type of "mismatch" those errors refer to often, its a lot of variable assignment and decimal place stuff. I'm gonna give you a version to try.
