RRSkinEditor BUGS / FIXES / COMMENTS / CURRENT PROGRESS OUTDATED

Well Guino added a ton of things to the editor to keep up with RoadRunner. Check out his thread here http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/rr-s...or-v0-5-a.html

Okay This should make it easier to find the current version of RRSkinEditor. If anything changes I will make it known in this first post. Except for the occasional post whoreing in my own thread

First off: Lbooker Wrote the original version of this software, Guino added some functionality and then I stumbled onto it. I have been fixing and adding functionality to this program for a couple months now. So I'm getting the hang of where everything is.

Second: This thread is for RRSkinEditor only. Bugs in the program. Any functionality that you may want or feel would make it easier to use. Or things you hate about it would be okay too.

Okay here is the good stuff.

Current Version of RRSkinEditor With new Virtual Editor V0.3.019
http://home.comcast.net/~cstrachn/RRSkinEditor.rar

Beta Version of RRSkinEditor With new Virtual Editor V0.3.024 Use UNDO/REDO at own risk
http://home.comcast.net/~cstrachn/RRSkinEditor024.rar

Current Source of RRSkinEditor found here
http://home.comcast.net/~cstrachn/RR...itorSource.rar
Source may be behind a couple versions

Microsoft VB Runtime Files Version 6.0 sp5. May be needed to run RRSkinEditor
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...D-CDF2D29A79D5

Current Suggestions that I might work on are:

JohnWPB: Add PNG support to editor. 4-15-2007 <-- will look into.
4-22-2007: working without transparency will need to investigate the png format some more.

Royn: Add Ctrl Click on buttons to open the skin it points to when the command LOAD is used. <-- still thinking about this one ......Probably use the update RoadRunner skin command to reload the skin in RoadRunner
1-3-2007: Still not implemented

liquid_smoke: Enable/Disable Objects from displaying there box. That way you can click on an object that is behind something else without selecting something else. <-- started on this one. Got side tracked with virtual editor and some other bugs. Still working on it.
1-3-2007: Added to version 0.3.020

Display image attached to an IMG object <-- next on my list, somewhere on my list
1-3-2007: Added to version 0.3.020

Virtual Editor with Undo/Redo commands Directly embeded into RRSkinEditor <-- Virtual editor is working but needs improvement still.
1-3-2007: Added to version 0.3.020

Properties Box: Like in photoshop or frontpage. Would get rid of the double click to adjust settings. Click on an object and the Properties Box updates to reflect currently selected object. <-- started to work on this but can't find the best way to do it yet.
1-3-2007: Still on my list of things to do

Fixes:
Version 001-005

Version 012

Added Auto focus to done on all objects to make it faster on objects that don’t need more then xy coordinates

Version 013
Fixed auto focus bug that caused curser to go to done when ever the command box changed.

Version 014
Fixed mouse adjustment when zoomed in or out
Fixed y slider style crash when pressing up/down/left/right

Version 015
Fixed GENERAL.INI failure during save when creating a new skin or skin folder with no GENERAL.INI file.

Version 022 RRSkinEditor [1-5-2007 1:00am]
Vixed copy paste key commands in virtual editor.
Switched auto lock off and now have it default to unlocked objects.

Version 023 RRSkinEditor [1-15-2007]
Switched auto lock off comming out of virtual editor
Switched drag object back to left click!!!!! some people are never happy
Soon to be selectible left or right click for the leftys out there.
added auto space between groups of objects. Make it easier to read. Plus it used to do that before i added comments

Version 024 RRSkinEditor [4-22-2007]
Added PNG support for layout.

NOTE: Transparency will be filled with white by default. Until further investigation into PNG. I may use Guinos GDI+ code. Once i've had time to understand how he is doing it.

Please feel free to send in the BUGs so I can help the mp3car community. And Guino of course

I have been using RRSkinEditor for several months now. Not sure what version I'm on, but just found this when looking for drag and drop functionality. Can't wait to check it out!

My only desire at the moment is an efficient tab-index. I prefer keyboard navigation to mouse at most times and the tab-index on the old version completely blows. It's all out of whack. Hopefully it's been updated or can go on a to-do list. Thanks again! This will help me to wrap up my skin even quicker!

ok heres a simple request.. can you add a button on the menu bar or somewhere to open current skin folder ? I'm unsure how others skin, but I use a mixture of notepad to edit the skin and also your editor.. infact thinking about it.. two requests, 1 to open current skin folder and 2 to refresh current loaded skin :-)

cheers

actually, thinking about the last 2 request, i too use the skineditor alot along side of textpad. It would cool to be able to open the current screen loaded into a text editor of your choice.
Like an edit source button, (just like in a web browser) and in the settings you can point to the text editor you want to use for editing.

that's ana wesome request liquid.. after starting my new skin, i am also using a text editor alogn with the skineditor and find myself doing quick layouts with the skin editor then tweaking it in ultraedit, but having to close skin editor and re-opening to see changes. good job with the adidtions you've made to this app, profit.

yeh, it sucks when you forget you made changes in a text editor then go back to skineditor and resave the skin. Doh!

Another idea, if you could implement some type of buffer, perhaps you could create an UNDO feature (with the CTRL + Z shortcut of course)

I find that when my screen is in 800x600 mode and I open the properties to an object and the objects properties are really long I cannot see the bottom of the object window and the up down scroll dosent work when a objects property window is open.

is it possible to
a. Fix the Tab order so that when you tab it goes in sequence with the boxes?
b. Make it so that when a textbox gets focus, the text is selected?

it would make skinning way way faster.

Alright guys hit me all at once

Notepad sounds great. I dont have the current source at work so I will have to wait until I get home. The Notepad gave me a good idea as to how I will add undo to the editor. I'm not sure how easy it will be to add undo across multiple skins but I should be able to do it with current skin in view. Not sure if it will slow down the program but i guess we will see.

Default directory? Current version will use rrskineditor directory/skins for the default skin folder.

CdRsKuLL: Link to current folder should be easy to do.

Okay before i start on notepad here is my idea on it. To make it a virtual notepad linked to RRSkinEditor. So that when opened it will pull in the current skin and from there you can save and auto update to RRSkinEditor. That way you wont have to worry about not saving changes between the notepad and the editor.

Although if you want to have RRSkinEditor to just open any text editor with the skin file linked to it. You will have to worry about saving from one editor to the other.

Let me know what you guys think I can go either way or maybe even both

JPuma: Thought about that for a while. What if I created a properties box inside the view screen Sorta like photoshop has property box. Then I could display current object properties when selected?

J187: I will have to look into tab order. Not sure what you mean by text in the textbox?
