hi,

Been testing this skin on my carpc. Everything is running slow. I tried to open the flash movie in IE. This works fine. I also installed the flashplayer 8 and the flash directx plugin (FAQ). There must be something to get this working smootly. My carpc is a 2.4 Gh p4 (HT) with 512 MB. This should be enough for a simple carpc
My desktop doesn't have any of this issues. Installs aren't that different. There must be something missing here. I installed the folowing:
Windowsxp sp2 (+automatic updates)
vb6 comes with freedrive
flashplayer 8
some codecs
powerdvd
bluetooth software
and roadrunner - fresh installed and updated

I also noticed that running the above consumes about 30% CPU while playing audio and even more while hitting buttons.. Memory consumes about 200 MB running winxp + winamp + roadrunner + bluetooth

I know this is a little! off topic.. but does the above make any sence?? Some friends of me expierence the same. please advice..

It is normal for flash to bog down when it is in RR. I test my skins on a 3.4 GHz XPS system and I can still notice about a 10-20% decrease in performance when the flash is in RR vs. in the Player or IE. I'm also working with the lists in flash and I can tell you that it requires a TON of messing around until it's acceptable. But if anyone can get it to run smoothly, it's CdR

CdR, good news I'd say.
I tried it on a 1Ghz Duron with 128SDRAM. It's a bit slow (noticeable), but definatly usable. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will run on the M10k.

btw, what's the status of the skin?

Come on guys, everybody knows CDR is the master. I got this running on my 500Mhz tablet and once I load all the screens its a little slow, but the WOW factor is amazing. One problem I have is the audio playlist and browser don't show. I can click on the blank spaces and it reacts just as if the file/directory text were there, just invisible.

Flash def. slows down a bit inside RR because of the graphics transparency that it has to perform when updating the flash drawings.. this is what allows flash objects to be seamlessly transposed over RR buttons/labels and images. Believe me when I say I did and re-did a lot of research on this stuff... if the flash object is not CPU intensive, it should not take much CPU at all when in RR.. a good example are the flash logos.. CDR has done a great deal of improvements on the speed from the first versions I saw.. DiNASTY got things to work very smoothly on the tests I saw too.. I use a little celeron 1.2Ghz to test everything.. so slowly but surely, they're getting there..

Hi peeps.. Ill in bed at the mo with the flu, but I did do a bit yeasterday morning. I have added a slider bar to the audio browse and change how it works, much more simple when you know. Also done the Video part, ut need to port the slider over to that. One thing I did notice was if RR is getting requests from the lcd module I've done the slider keeps loosing focus.. but this i'm sure can be worked out.

Anyway when i'm felling a bit better I will finish of the gps then do a little release.

You mean you're planning on doing a slider for the video browser list? Would that use CUSTOMDL, i'm not sure? I hope you're feeling better, drink lots of fluids -DiNASTY

WOW, this is a great skin. I'm filling in the blankes with functions from the BMV2 skin. I can't wait for this to be finished. Is anyone else having problems with color tool and the shutdown function?

When I load the color skin, the skin loads, but the color.exe program does not, and when I click Shutdown, nothing happens. I have to exit and use the start bar to shutdown the computer.

Hi m8.. I've not done anything on it for a week since coming down with the flu.. the color skin selector path will be wrong if it doesnt load.. goto the xeon skin folder and open up menu.txt .. at the bottom you will see cpath= .. make sure this holds the correct path to the skin folder. As for the exit screen, only the exit button is mapped at the moment I never did the others yet.. sorry if this is causing a problem at the moment.

Yeah the customdl defo works as I'm using it at the moment, just was going to add a dl slider. .. Congrates on your Flash skin.. it looks awesome. I noticed that you have a loading bar, is this where you are waiting for the array to be filled up ? if it is.. how are you measuring this and also doing it. I'm just doing mine on the fly, but it lags like hell when browsing.

I'm polling the CUSTOMDL/PL rather than constantly monitoring them. The loading stuff is just to kill the time it takes RR to update the label. It only takes one frames time at 20 frames per second to load the string into an array so I choose to go that direction. The code is myArray=CUSTOMDL.split("DIR"); or something like that. I'll send you my files when I'm done and maybe we could combine ours to make a sort of platform for others to modify/add to.

OH, BTW, I'm running this on a Dell 300m laptop (1.2ghz intel with 1gig ram) and it's running great. No performance issues so far at all.
