Album Art & Vis -- across entire skin...

Guys,

Seems like on a skin or so I've seen this - and think I have it skin'd correctly but should this indeed work. I want to have the Active Album Art (folder.jpg) on any skin page, shows fine on the Player Screen .... and also AVS VIS. I've seen a trick or so to load a skin page and force the VIS to load with it (mixed results)... I can't seem to do this at all with the album art.... I will search more as well.

LS - when I posted this I compared against VOID and for certain in void it all works for me - with some of the skin work I am doing I can't seem to carry them across so am comparing - but confused... Did you find anything special you needed to code in the VOID skin or transtion to the next screen to maintain.

LS - let me ask this in another way as well, I would like to have NOW-PLAYING-ALBUMART and then also in the audio browser screen as I select and build playlists have SELECTED-ALBUMART....

LS - Guys - am I missing some tags.... or can this be done? or not?

I thought that's how it worked already... unless you mean have both the "now-playing" and "selected" on the same screen. I don't think that is possible, not even with flash. well maybe but it would be pretty messy.

That is correct Dinasty - a tag for both, actively playing - and selected. Not a super critical need but on many pages I will have "now playing track info and a mini thumb almost global...." When I am in a playlist creation page where the slection is being made and want to view the album thumb - which you can kind of picture in your mind - I could not do this.

All in all not major at all - but thanks for jumping in to at least assist.

I did a lot of skin work with many HTPC apps and we had to establish tags for NOW PLAYING and also for SELECTED. We then used those for piping to VFD/LCD's also because we realized having just the one tag in certain areas was an issue. Here it is not that major I just was curious.

LS - we discussed this a little when you were starting VOID, did you finally accomplish VISU start and then not have to start it on each page you wanted it on - or do you have to do that.

I have 2 issues with VIS, neither end of the world but odd, and could be related. I am working with the LSX skin as the template for some of the work.

1 - I am using your VIS from VOID via AVS. I had been using Satan and loved it but did not scale large enough. ISSUE #1 I am having to click 2 times for it to load in the page... odd.

2 - On each page I need to load it (VISU button) which could be related to the previous issue. It will show then when I return to those pages but I need to start it there.

Hope - I could have it clicked ONCE then any screen that supports the VISU will then show it as active...

Did you find either of these as normal behavior?

Not sure if this will fix your problem, but you can keep some vis embedded on any page using the RUN command like this:

RUN;;windowname (Window name of vis)

In your case, you should add that command on any button that could change screens. For example on the main menu.skin, add it to the audio button like this AUDIO||RUN;;windowname etc... It's worth a shot.

sorry i missed your posts, you prob should of PM'ed me.

For embeding the visu on multiple screens, DiNASTY has the right idea.
This is how it was explained to me by guino
"Just set the vis to other in RRConfig and set a window title that is close but not the same used by the milkdrop/avs options.. then after loading a new screen, either specify an empty command to run with the same window title to embed, or use the run command with just the title to embed (the same you used in RRConfig).. for AVS, the suggestion is to use this: !Winamp Ge!AVS (the normal setting is !Winamp Gen!AVS)

That way it won't be embedded into RR's skin and will be able to be embedded in other screens (it will however stay with a border).."

I tested this and it does work, but with the border of the avs still visible.
So for the time being im not using it in my skin, but guino said that he could do something about the border being visible. You could also find a winamp skin (classic skin) or even edit the stock skin to have a really tiny border, like one pixel or maybe even invisible. I know this should be possible, but ive never made a winamp skin so i dont know how hard it would be to do.
