"Infobar"...
Hello!
I guess the thread title is a little off but it was the best word that came to my mind...
I'm trying to create a "infobar" display in my skin. Its supposed to be a text field which shows different text based on what I press on the screen and what happens on the computer.
Example: Default text shows (GPS route info) -> I press "next song" -> text changes to music title for five seconds then goes back to default text (GPS route info).
Is this possible with RoadRunner? I know I can use variables to make the text change but can this be based on a timer?
Btw: Is this the correct forum for asking this or should it be under Road Runner directly?
Cheers
Borte

You can use the SwitchLabel code for that. You need to put this in the button code you press, like this
B1,9,82,96,63,"NextTrack||SETLABEL;!MYLABEL1||IDL, 5"
In the EXECTBL.ini you need those two lines
"!MYLABEL1","TRACKTITLE"
"IDLE","EXIT"

Could you elaborate a bit on this since the skin commands.txt doesn't say so much about it?
Would it also be possible to make it show the music track for 5 seconds if the player changes song by it self?

This is not very simple.. any solution you come up with will have different quirks.. unless you make an extension plugin for this, it will not work perfectly everytime.

10 If you already know VB, then download the "Base Plugin" and start from that... IIRC that includes methods of sending/recieving info from RR.
20 If you dont know VB, well first learn VB, THEN GOTO 10

Take a look at the "extension plugin" sources and the FAQ about how to use it.. the code is fairly well commented, you just have to add a few things to it to create a new label code like "TRACK5SEC", the hardest part will be to monitor the current song.. I'm actually going to release a new interface for this soon, so you may want to hold off a little or PM me so I can send you the beta..
