i just (finally) got a new carpc and the cpu is 900MHz Celleron M with 512Ram and the skin runs perfectly on it, with ilist enabled and screen transitions turned on. So i would have to say that anything that is above this should be more than enough.
The skin is developed on a 2GHz Pentium M with 2GBram and nvidia gfx card.
Tested on a 2.6GHz celleron and an old P4 laptop. I have yet to find a box that it runs slow on.

My playlist directory is set correctly.

when looking at my playlist directory it functions normally, load/save/rename playlists.
but when i assemble a new on the fly playlist and then hit save, and type in a name, and press enter, the iList does not update itself to display the additional playlist that has been saved to my playlist directory.
the playlist IS created/present in my playlist directory.
if you rename a playlist even renaming it to the exact name it had before, then the iList DOES update.
-----
by double clicking on a playlist in the iList, I can browse into the playlist and see the individual songs
but I can't back out of the playlist at all. theres no button for it.
so my playlist editor is stuck inside ironmaidenplaylist.m4a until i restart RR.
and hitting rename renames my music files! DANGER
-----
so in summary:
-ilist doesnt update when a new playlist is saved to the playlist directory.
-can browse right into a playlist and cant back out.
-can rename my mp3s - surely not intended??
i take it that playlist menu is not supposed to browse into the playlist files?
if i'm missing the point i apologise.
hope ive given enough detail
thanks heaps for your work, smoke.
will take a look into these issues.
From top of the head though, you should not be able to browse into the playlist, it should play the playlist instead of showing its contents.
How are you able to rename your mp3 files?

there isnt an easy way to add a custom url to those .net buttons. What i will do in the future though, is rebuild the system so each url is custom.

the code he pasted would only work if your sytem is set to standby when u shutdown instead of powering off. What ill do though since this is an easy workaround is build that blank.skin into the shutdown commands, so no matter how you exit, it will always go to the blank.skin screen first then exit.

i am able to rename songs by browsing into the playlist by double clicking on it in the ilist, and then hitting rename. the OSK comes up with the path to the song in it.
It didnt rename it right away, so I thought it was messing with the playlist entries, but after fiddling with RR and restarting a couple times I noticed the changes I made had in fact been applied to the mp3 filenames.
If it doesnt appear to rename them, give a RR a few restarts/ a break or whatver, mayb change to another playlist. im not sure exactly how to reproduce, but it DOES rename them.

well thats definitely not the intended functionality. The rename button is actually to rename the playlist file. But its arguable of which way should be the correct way, i can see some people wanting it this way, others the other way. Ill take a look and see if this has changed in RR and if not then look into why its doing it with the skin. Or see if there is some option to check to toggle the different methods.

Feature request:
I finally uploaded the newest void file to the carputer.
I noticed the ilist is gone by default an replaced by a scrolling song title bar.
I like it, but it only scrolls if the song titile is too long to be displayed.
Also, if the song title is short enough, it displays it twice on the same line.
Would it be possible to have the artist album and song title scroll across the screen continually instead?
Or have I just not found the setting yet?
Cheers

I've looked through this thread like 200x and it appears i'm the only one with this problem. I can't get the avs window to dock in RR. I can't even make it transparent when its in classic mode so i have to switch to modern and the its transparent but still no docking

IS there a place to set up file associations or recognized file formats? i believe this is where i would find my fix, yes/no
LS you originally suggested the audio file association but it didnt work this did..
AWESOME i found the fix for the video there is a VIDEO file association in the RR.ini
videofiles=.mpg,.mp4,.flv,.avi
adding the above line under the [video] options worked and fixed the .flv issue now i can watch all the youtube videos i want (pinkfloyd synced with the wizard of oz, how can you miss out?)
also there is a spot in the RRconfig on the video tab, my eyes overlooked it till i was here "focused" at work

Any help please?? I'm using winamp 5.13 and my settings are
rr.ini:
AvsTransparent=TRUE
screensaver.ini
AvsTransparent=True
FadeOnIdle=False
SecondsToFade=300
FadeInterval=10
DefaultOpacity=70
MaxOpacity=255
I can't get the avs window to embed i can't get it to be transparent at all. It doesn't seem as if winamp has this feature for the winamp classic skin. I tried using the modern and has the same result. Can anyone help me out?

Haven't read the rest of you posts but:
Check RRconfig, the utility, not the file.
Under "music" check "AVS window", then under AVS/Screensaver check "AVS Transparent". At this point, it should be working if you are in the classic skin for winamp.
It's pretty simple with the new config..............but by the looks of your ini, you have this correct.
If it's still not working, you've got a bug in your install somewhere.

I figured this would be a good place to ask this question. How can you get the visualization to continue playing in the background when you go to the next screen?

If I understand you right, Find this Line>>/ DEFINE GOOGLEVIDEOWEATHER "googleplayer.swf?docId=5527390467850863231&hl =en" in LSXCOLORS.txt and replace it with (San Francisco)
"googleplayer.swf?docId= 5711754632996851703&hl=en"
Hope this helps you out antimatter. In addition, I have mine coded for the Detroit area and it loads weather from last summer. Its most certainly not 80 degrees and sunny here.

unfortunately for those looking into the weather forecast videos. They no longer are being updated, so even when u do change it from the default chicago, it will be old data in the video. So this feature will likely be removed or replaced if i can find a good replacement.
