Sling Freedom

Here is a skin for SlingPlayer and RR Freedom 2.1.

1) Download the "VideoFrameOnly" skin for Sling Player and tell sling player to use it and to auto connect to your sling box.

2) Uncompress SlingFreedom.zip to your SKINbedder folder.

3) Uncompress Sling.zip and Sling-FS.zip to your RR\Skins\Freedom 2.1 folder.

4) Add the following line to your ExecTBL.ini (in RR root):

Code:

"SLING","PAUSE||LOAD;Sling.skin;Streaming-TV;c:\program files\SKINbedder\SKINbedder.exe|SlingFreedom";SKINbedder - SlingFreedom, Streaming-TV

5) Set a button to run "SLING" in Menu.txt:

Code:

&mainbut1=Sling@icons\tv.png@SLING&

That's it. Enjoy.

Whoops... I didn't include Pressed.gif. Download it seperatly and copy it to RR\Skins\Freedom 2.1\Sling\Pressed.gif

Screen Shot of SlingFreedom streaming XM Radio from my friends Direct-TV box. (Yes, it works for TV too if you have a EVDO card, but I think it is cool that with this you don't even need a seperate XM skin for an in car XM reciever.)

Thanks for posting, I had created one as well but was still ironing it out. Your simple approach helped me out, I had worked thru all the skinbedder stuff some time ago and really embeds awesome..

I am a HUGE fan of Sling with RR if you have EVDO and can appreciate the limitations. I thought about a tuner - but you have issues with that too, and if paying for DTV which I have why not take it with me on the cheap like this. If you tweak to your bandwidth it works fantastic, and Verizon's EVDO is going thru another major upgrade.

RPM,

I installed the skin to my install and it works for the most part. However, none of the keys on the virtual remote work. Another question, how do you keep from sling player trying to launch mulitple times, when you switch, say to GPS, and then back to sling. I get the "another instance of Sling Player is already running."

It is not embedding correctly. Try this:

1) Add the following line to your ExecTBL.ini (in RR root):

Pardon my newbieness, but I made the changes and now Sling will not execute when I click on the sling button.

Strange that exec table thing doesn't work? I still don't know as much about RR as I assume to I guess

This is tested and works for me (I didn't test before because I don't use freedoms menu.skin, so I had to restore that in order to test the menu.txt syntax):

The buttons send keys and it works. You can exit and switch back to it and it comes up instantly (it does not launch another instance). There is a "bug" where if you click the video it will move the embedded window 100-pixels down and to the right. I have no clue how to fix this, just don't click the video window.

Anybody know where I can find the aforementioned "VideoFrameOnly" skin for slingplayer? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

how do i tweak my bandwith I have a sling play with a 6700 and teather it , I live in a evdo network area, how can i make this work for me?

please help me out if you guys can. thank you
